Our Channel, At the Chateau, focuses on the restoration and celebration of Château Avensac, a listed French castle, designed in the late 18th century, and built in the beginning of the 19th century, on the ruins of the original 14th century Château.

In 2015 we began an adventure to own a French Chateau. It has been a long journey, and in September of 2021 we became the guardians of this incredible property that we now call home. I keep an ongoing record of the long road to Château ownership, as well as our continued restoration work on our website. 1. The kitchen is going to be FABULOUS! Really love the design the shape of the "cooker" hood. Once finished it will look like it has always been there. If it were me, Alex could finish those walls any way he wants and if I didn't like it I'd just have Judy bring him back to do it all over again and again and again…. Keep up the great work guys! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

  2. You could consider a library ladder for the tall cabinets. It runs on lateral wheels at the bottom and a rail at the top. They can be removed and hung on the wall.

  3. As always enjoyed this update so much. Just think of how far you have come. Your patience to see this project thru is indeed deserving of praise. Phillip, I noted right away that you looked very nice so don't be so hard on yourself. Mark better be aware that Judy may make a play for you. I just don't know if she can be trusted. 🤣😂🤣

  4. I miss you when you're gone so long and overjoyed when you return! You guys have a fantastic team working for you! The kitchen is really taking shape! I can't wait for the next installment! Love you guys!

  5. The stone structure of the chateau is amazing. So glad to see these ancient chateaux brought back to life. But please re-think your plan to paint the large cabinet and table in the kitchen! In this case, tradition knows best.

  6. Hope you had a nice visit with Mom and friend. I was hoping to see all the RED paint in the library. I am glad the kitchen is coming along. I disagree with others about painting the cabinet, it is not particularly beautiful wood; the table top I would leave natural wood.

  7. Phillip, I'm 62 and the only exercise I get is sucking in my stomach. By the way, you look great with your hair pulled back.
I am going to trust your vision in painting The large cupboard in the kitchen, but it did hurt my feelings a lot.
The wood mantle under the stove hood is my favorite detail so far. It's fantastic!

  8. Pain beure saucisson hummm c est bon n oubliez pas un bon verre de vin avec de l' armagnac et du cognac pour faire passer tout ce bon gras et vous vivez centenaire ❤❤❤❤

  9. No need to call Emergency!
As someone who had a solid timber kitchen, I say paint away… our kitchen is small so it's painted off-white, has cabinets to the ceiling, with glass paned upper doors on one side, it looks like a wall of china. The end with the range and hood is off-white subway tile, also to the ceiling… it makes the kitchen look so much larger. Paint colour in your kitchen could be anything as it's enormous, so can't wait to see the colour you choose. I was talked into painting the base of the kitchen table, so happy with the result, a blue very similar to your painted dinning room walls.
Bread, butter and cheese are a deadly combo, I know, so delicious! ❤🧀🦘

  10. It’s a real joy watching the way you are restoring the chateau with such respect for its history. So many of these projects across France are creating ‘Disneyland’ not nurturing the character of the building. Thank you for the recommendation on L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. It’s only a few hours drive away from our new home in France and we need to do some shopping as well. Best wishes. M&R

  11. Hi guys!!! 😁🤗🥰
The kitchen is really coming together nicely and I’m sure it’ll be warm and cozy even though it’s quite a large room. I’m “seeing” your vision 😁

  12. le pain et le fromage: c'est vital !😉. Quel beau travail dans cette cuisine, elle sera majestueuse. Ce château mérite qu'on prenne le temps de bien faire. Vos équipes sont des artistes. 😍😍

  13. Could you fill the wood with resin to prevent any leaks of fumes? At least on the inside ( not visible) looking forward to seeing the renovations

  14. With the built cabinets being so tall and yes tall, how did help get to the top?
Maybe add glass fronts in a few for beautiful vases or crystal, certainly for items you don't need every day.
With the knots is it pine? I'm okay with paint. What fun. Your to do list must be very long

  15. With the fresh bread and pastries and variety of cheeses I think we all would hold our tummies, but happily.
    Certainly no bakeries around here.

  16. Reaching the higher cabinet shelves:
    A wooden spiral “Library Staircase”
(about half the height of the cabinet)
that allows you to reach the top shelves
when comfortably standing on the top step
and would be on rollers so you can set it
    aside when not in use?
It would maintain that old-world charm you
    have going in the kitchen.
