How Much I Spent In A Day As A Tourist In Singapore | SEA’s Most Expensive City
[Music] well good morning from almost what looks like apocalyptic downtown Singapore because it is the weekend and downtown is like dead but this is my second time here in Singapore friends and this is one of my favorite city/ countries I like how things are run here I like that it’s overall super clean very safe people are lovely but of course it is extremely expensive and it is one of the few places that I would say justifies being this expensive so for my week here in the city I am making two videos this one where I’m going to show you just how much it costs to spend an average day here in Singapore doing some of the most touristy things and the second will be a much more local video where I’m going to have two fantastic singaporeans take me around the city to some of the Lesser known areas try some local food so definitely stay tuned for that but I wanted to do this video because the most common question that I get about about coming to Singapore is how much does it cost now to start off our day with our first expense which is of course accommodation more than likely this is the area that you are going to be spending a lot in if you are not a fan of hostiles so in my last video where I had just arrived to Singapore I had mentioned that I was staying at wink on mallum street I’ll actually link it in the description for anybody interested because it was actually as good of a place as you can expect for a hostel and checking the price it was actually a little bit less expensive than I had quoted you guys it’s about 43 Singaporean dollar which is approximately 3233 us per night if you’re looking to get the lowest price possible in Singapore I would recommend staying more on the outskirts of the central areas you can find hostels as low as $2 uh per night uh hotels maybe for around 120 but personally I would prefer to be in the more central part of the city and be within walking distance to all of my favorite places we have arrived to one of the most famous downtown Hawker centers and here we are guys the most popular stall there is because they have such a good price if you are just getting the traditional Kaya toast set it is $280 in Singapore dollars which it’s a little bit around $2 us let’s just say that extremely reasonable you what uh K to set please pleas okay Cofe or tea H Cofe and here we are a cute little breakfast set for $280 Singaporean dollars no way you could get this kind of food in Canada or the US for that kind of price now I’ll be honest with you guys do I miss my avocado toast and you know fruit smoothies and you know all the fancy sort of things that I usually get in Southeast Asia that are super westernized for breakfast yes I do yes I do but this is also really really nice I’ve actually come around to this copy coffee which is the traditional way of making coffee here with like condensed milk I actually really like it Kaya toast if you don’t know what it is it’s like the kind of traditional thing like I said that they have here it’s this sort of like marmalade spread on it as well as butter the thing that I do struggle with is the soft Poached Eggs especially when they have them soft poached in the Shell cuz you kind of got to you know break them on your own there we go not bad here we are dipping it into the bread very nice very nice but yeah you couldn’t start off the day in a more budget friendly way than a $280 breakfast set definitely a must try in Singapore as far as things to do in Singapore there are actually so many different unique neighborhoods to check out in the city I did Cover the most famous touristy ones in my last video like Chinatown Little India campong Glam so if you haven’t already seen that video and want more information about those areas definitely check it out but another thing that I really enjoyed doing this trip that is more of a local thing to do actually is to take the subway All the Way North to mrii Reservoir this is a huge Park area where there’s a lot of different hiking trails and most famously a treetop Adventure where you are walking way above the trees on this little bridge that only goes one way and it is just such a beautiful area to make you feel like you’re outside of the city Singapore does have the tagline of being called a city in a garden and it is pretty incredible just how many beautiful green spaces they have on such a small area of land while still having these bustling incredible uh Metropolitan centers as well before this video I decided to go to an area that I strangely didn’t know about last time which is Orchard Road one of the most famous shopping and entertainment areas in the city if you’re coming from the Central Downtown part where I was staying the easiest way to get to Orchard Road is to take the MRT the price of public transport in Singapore is extremely reasonable and is also scaled depending on where you are going so for me from shenton way all the way to Orchard Boulevard it cost a120 in Singaporean currency Which is less than a doll us so extremely reasonable for the high quality of public transport that they have here in the city there’s really no reason to get any sort of taxis [Music] here welcome to Orchard Road friends look at this absolutely spectacular luxury mall behind me and all around me like this whole street stretching down for like a couple kilometers is more or less all luxury malls hotels beautiful restaurants and bars and it was only in the 19th century that uh this whole area was quite literally an orchard that is why it is called Orchard Road because it had a lot of different fruit trees and I guess a pepper Plantation so in not that short of a time it has transformed into a shopping metropolis and the oldest shoppingall that I read that first spurred the district is right across the street here it is Tang’s Plaza so I’m definitely going to make a stop in there absolutely spectacular uh District if you love to shop like I do and I’m surprised that I didn’t make it out here the first time I came to Singapore [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right so my friend who lives here suggested going to 313 at Somerset Mall because they are supposed to have a really good food CT so let’s get that for lunch oh my gosh look at this oh this is a food court there’s even a giraffe guys the food court has everything even beer why don’t we get that in Canada where do I file a complaint I’ve decided to go with Korean cuz I have not had that in a long time and look at these CES guys like I mean for Singapore this is great for 680 you get a whole Bib and Bop with like a little soup and kimchi that is a deal in my opinion I am actually so excited for this guys I have not had a bib and Bop in such a long time if you don’t know what it is it’s basically like a Korean rice bowl dish I got mine with beef comes with veggies and an egg I upgraded to the DOL set Bib and Bob for an extra dollar you have a hot bowl and I prefer that cuz that makes the rice uh nice and crispy so this was basically eight8 Singaporean dollars and then next door I got a Japanese green tea to drink for $2 so basically my lunch today has come to 10 Singaporean and I feel like that’s a fairly reasonable deal [Music] [Music] we are back to the more downtown central part of the city friends we’ve got the Singapore River to my left we’ve got the famous Fullerton Hotel behind me and while the sun is still kind of peeking out the weather forecast now says it’s going to rain any minute so I think we need to pick an indoor activity and there is a place that I really wanted to go to last time I was here but just didn’t have the time which is the art Science Museum it’s the very unique looking building kind of beside Marina Bay Sands and actually I really hope it does rain now not later because at 5:00 I have a reservation for the observation deck of Marina Bay Sands which I also haven’t done yet and it’s nonrefundable so I hope the weather is going to be good [Music] oh [Music] all right guys so this is where you get your ticket and I actually didn’t know that there is a whole bunch of different exhibits that you can either get separately or get in a combo but the combo is a bit expensive it’s like $71 so if I was spending the day here than maybe but I just decided to go with the most popular exhibit that they’re really known for um which is future world and that cost $30 Singaporean dollars [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] that was super cool I would recommend but it was a much smaller exhibition than I was expecting I thought that this was going to take like I don’t know an hour and a half it took you know 30 40 minutes max and I will be honest going to the actual like team lab exhibition when it is touring different cities I think it’s permanently in Tokyo though either way I will have to say that is a much more like impressive experience when I went to team lab in Tokyo I think it took me like 2 and 1/2 3 hours and there were so many exhibitions [Music] go [Music] here we are at the entrance for the sky Park observation deck and if you guys are doing like I did and coming at peak times you know before the sunset make sure you get your ticket online as you can see mine cost 36 Singaporean dollar so you know a bit but it will be super cool to see the amazing [Music] view 1 2 [Music] 3 look you only make you feel like you could never leave do the same we can’t go back this is all we need follow me to make believe and make your dreams come true this night means forever and so does me and you we say we love we say we love we gave it all we gave it all we say we love we say we love but we were just until something better came [Music] along this is super cool guys I was actually you know not expecting to be this impressed I thought oh you know just another observation deck but because I haven’t seen Singapore like from a bird’s eye view it really is something else and obviously observation decks are way better if they are open air which this is over here is the famous s Sky Bar which you know also carries a very Hefty price T and then a floor higher is the super famous Marina Bay Sands infinity pool which you have to be a hotel guest to actually experience and I think even entry level rooms start at $1,000 a night so I’m not quite there but I am really happy to be on this observation deck like it is absolutely stunning they’ve done such a good job with it [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] there I am so confused about what I just saw at Gardens by the bay guys if I hadn’t seen the original show I probably would have thought oh you know nice cuz anytime you light up the trees and you know have all right music like it’s it’s nice it’s a great little show but if you know what the original looks like it’s like 10 times 100 times better than what they put on cuz first of all they’re using some kind of Disney show music which in my mind didn’t really fit I don’t think I can leave the original music in they’ll probably copyright it like the original show is incredible I don’t know why they would change it to that like I could even tell with some other people they kind of seemed a bit underwhelmed and some people were even leaving early which would never happened with like the Regular Show so a bit disappointing that um they did that to be honest but anyways a free show is a free show I still enjoyed um seeing it but it is about 8:30 now and I’m honestly hungry and tired and I don’t want to go somewhere else so I’m just going to grab some dinner in the Marina Bay s’s food court all right guys I ended up getting the chicken rice set for one person and this came to $1.90 which you know for the Hawker centers is expensive but for Marina based fand that’s pretty good I guess all right friends let’s tally up just how much I spent today starting with my accommodation which was a dorm room at a hostel it cost 43 Singaporean dollars I had a super budget friendly breakfast of copi coffee and Ka toast for 280 my first MRT ride was a120 I then had my Korean lunch which came to a total of $10 my MRT ride back was a130 my admission into future world was 30 Singaporean and then came the sky Park which was $36 and lastly we end our day with dinner at Marina Bay Sands food court for $11.90 so my total for the day came to $1 13620 in Singaporean dollar currency and approxim ately that is $1 in a way I guess that’s reasonable for a city like Singapore obviously staying in a hostel really brought down my total if I would have stayed even at a budget hotel you could easily add basically another $100 on top of that so let me know in the comments let me know if you guys think this is a reasonable amount to spend in a day do you think Singapore is wor worth the money and if you have been here before let me know approximately how much you spent so as I had mentioned before guys I’m going to have another video coming out about a more local part of Singapore so stay tuned for that I hope you enjoyed this one and as always I’m sending you so much love and keep being your own kind of beautiful bye guys
Singapore is known as one of the best cities in Asia (and in my opinion, the world!), but it does come at a hefty enough price tag. If you are traveling here as a tourist, expect that things will cost substantially more on a whole compared to the rest of South East Asia. But having said that, there are some ways to make it more budget friendly, so come join me for a day of touring around and checking out some of the most popular tourist attractions to see just how much I spend in a day in Singapore!

Thanks for sharing the good times with us..
Liquid-like half-boiled eggs with dark (sweet) soy sauce and pepper, will be tasty enough.
To be healthy, there is no need to dip into the soft-boiled eggs that toasted bread sandwiching thick slices of butter and kaya.
U can ask for toasted bread without butter and / or kaya, n dip the toasted bread into ur coffee or tea.
In the old days, people ate toasted bread with thick slices of butter and kaya for energy, especially for physical work.
Nicely videographed.
It's such sad to see lovely gorgeous women like you alone. I blame Western society for ruining women by deceiving them into being alone and you can do better by yourself girl.
For 8 years this lady is still traveling alone.
If you're a big fan of walking and wandering in a city, Singapore can be the place for you. What you're really paying for in Singapore is something that most countries in Southeast Asia CANNOT offer : A quiet, extremely SAFE place to walk and wander without having to worry about anything. I agree that hotels are insanely expensive. But public transport is very, very affordable, and hawker food is very, very cheap and very good. There are always good things and bad about any city. Singapore is no exception.
See if you can take a picture of the bus or how I can get to the Hawker center? I'll be headed over there soon. I have heard other Youtubers who rented Air BNB rather than staying at a hotel. What do you think? My wife and I need privacy and she loves to cook. I love Singapore and Hong Kong! Keep up the good work!
Nice one Alina. Pls plan to Visit Brunei as well. Its only 2 hours flight from Singapore. I will be your host. I am also a Travel Vloger. Learning from your vlogs.
Singapore is a place for foreigners to work, not live unless you are amongst the top 1% wealthiest people in the world. Only then you will be treated like a king by the government
how can you afford to travel around the world :]
Thank you for showing the world that it is possible to have fun in SG on a S$100 daily budget ๐
Singapore can be pretty affordable by visiting the heartlands, away from the usual tourist spots. And you can get even tastier food at the more local places. Plus there are many different malls and places for activities as well.
Try Jurong East Interchange(3 malls), Tampines Station (3 malls), Punggol Mall with nice coastal view and great parks….
I know English is widely used, but what language do people speak, outside of business and education, that is, when local friends are talking among themselves?
I had a dinner in "Cut by Wolfgang Puck", and it cost me almost 400 SGD.
Singapore continues to take Bangladeshi male workers, many Bangladeshi men commit immoral sex and humiliate Southeast Asian women, this country is very dangerous for Southeast Asian women.
so im going for 8 nights in september for my birthday trip and i got hotel and flights booked but im wondering if 2200 singaporean dollars will be enough for spending money to cover food, attractions etc.
That is a reasonable price for a day
There's actually tons of musuems in singapore and some of them are free! A lot of Students do visit them as a form of National Education Tour
i am Singaporean. thank you for showing the world that it doesn't cost thousands to have a decent time in Singapore. many blogger these days like to make exaggerated videos just to get followers.
@20:34 Gardens by the Bay IC of the show, are you listening? Consider constructive comments please ! ๐๐โค
Well Singapore is not south east asias most expensive country.
It is worldโs number one most expensive country.
When I visited last year, hotel is definitely the most expensive part of the trip.
Thanks alot for complimenting Singapore so much luv ur video hope you enjoy ur time at sg ๐ by the way you are extremely beautiful!!!
So cool ! … ๐
spent like a freaking beggar, but you can't sustain being this frugal for a week let alone a month if you want to live and experience real high cost of living. Trust me
There's many budget-friendly things to do in Singapore! โค We always love learning good tips from you guys!
AlinaILoveYou
I do not like shopping, so any other place is worth๐คญ to go instead! ๐
2024 – June – About 5,000,000 people in Singapore, locals and foreigners, are spending an average of US$10 – US$20 per day on food & Beverage, eating out or cooked foods at home.
In any city around the world, you can spend as much as you want per day, per month or per year without limitations. It's up to you
Food & Beverage Prices @ Hawker Centers, Coffee Shops, Food Courts, Chinese Restaurants, Japanese Restaurants or Western Restaurants are affordable. It's all depended on your budget and your willingness to spend, from Michelin Star Hawker Foods to Restaurant Foods. Hawker Centers and Coffee Shops also provide a variety of Arabs, Bangladeshi, Chinese, European, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Korean, Malays, Malaysian, Myanmar, Philippine, Thai, Vietnamese or Western Foods cheaply from US$3 – US$15 per meal, depending on your budget and your willingness to spend to eat.
Singapore isn't expensive. Of course, you can choose a Lamborghini or a Rolls Royce, apartment or a villa, buses, MRT or walk
Travelled and lived in many cities around the world for decades, there were cheap and expensive foods & beverages everywhere
Singapore weather is the 0nly problem for many foreigners who are coming from the cold countries. SG = 365 days in summer.
