OWNERS OF PATTAYA HOTELS CLAIM OFFICIALS DEMANDED 40% KICKBACKS
Owners of hotels in Pattaya have claimed officials have demanded kickbacks if they want their hotels to be chosen as Chines Corona Virus centres. They have urged Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration to look into the issue. Since the hotelier’s accusations officials were quick to deny any involvement by legitimate state authorities. Government spokeswoman Narumon Pinyosinwat said on Saturday that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had ordered an investigation into the claim. He vowed to take tough action against wrongdoers taking advantage of people and hotel operators during the Chines Corona Virus pandemic.
HOTELS IN THAILAND OFFER PROMOTIONS IN JUNE-JULY TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS
Hotels across the country are expected to restart this month, though in low numbers, as bookings were not high enough, Thai Hotels Association (THA) president Suphawan Thanomkiatphum said, urging them to offer promotions. “[All or most hotels] will reopen in July, when more Thais dare to venture out for tourism,” she said, advising all hotels to offer promotions in both June and July to attract customers.
