When planning my trip to southeast Asia, this was the part of the trip that I was most excited for. We booked a private tour of the Komodo Islands, in which we spent three days traveling by boat all around seeing some of the most amazing things.
On Day 1: We landed on the Indonesian island of Labuan Bajo where a lot of diving and sailing tours start. We set sail after grabbing a few snorkeling items and headed straight to our first island to see some Komodo Dragons. We hiked around the island and saw a ton of the huge dragons and even a mother’s nest. After our first tour, we found a spot to snorkel and check out some of the amazing sights under the water. After snorkeling, we set sail to catch a glimpse of bat island where the bats all wake up and fly away for the night at sunset.
On Day 2: We woke up early to hike for the sunrise at an awesome lookout spot where you could see three different beaches. After sunrise, we made our way to the next island where we hiked and saw additional dragons along with deer, wild boar, stick snakes and even a rare baby dragon we spotted in a tree. We grabbed some lunch and headed to pink beach for some more relaxed snorkeling and some pink sand. We ended with my favorite part of the boat tour, by snorkeling with manta rays. They were incredibly large majestic swimmers that we were able to get up close and personal with. We finished the evening with some freshly caught fish and a nice sunset.
Day 3: On day 3, we started a little later with some snorkeling on another pink sand beach that had some amazing coral. The next stop was to a hotspot for sea turtles where we were able to swim and see them up close (Definitely a close second favorite part!)! After the sea turtles, we went to a beach island where we relaxed and were able to see an incredible amount of fish when snorkeling. This was the last part of our tour and we returned to Labuan Bajo to take a warm shower =).
Overall, this was an amazing trip that I will never forget. If you are traveling to Bali or southeast Asia, I’d highly recommend booking a tour of the Komodo Islands.
