On the Picasso Trail in the South of France: Easy French and Culture with France and French
To be an artist, you have to have a trained eye Let’s go and eat We have Mamie Colette with us today It’s 50 years since he died 83 years old I wonder how many photos and paintings by Picasso we can find in Mougins While he’s working in his studio Mougins is full of little galleries He used to come on holiday here and he painted the chapel several times He used to stay very nearby in the villa that used to belong to friends, the Guinness family and that house was bought by Picasso There’s the house with a view of the bay of Cannes We’re in the chapel and there’s a little exhibition on Picasso 50 years ago we could have gone to Pablo’s for coffee It wouldn’t have been bad Antibes, typical with its beaches and port with enormous yachts And the Mediterranean of an extraordinary blue Just behind us, at the point over there, is the Picasso museum Here’s the Grimaldi castle which used to be a military fort It was bought by the Grimaldi family Pablo had his art studio here And now it’s become a museum It’s a town of artists with all the arsenal near the port Now it’s all boutiques and creative arts studios If you want, we can go and see Each piece is unique And you can even do a workshop to make your own creation Art that’s a bit different I don’t know what it’s made of – paper or paint Things that are bit more modern here See you next time, bye
Picasso lived, worked and died in the South of France. We visit the bustling town of Antibes, home to the Picasso Museum, as well as the beautiful and tranquil hill-top village of Mougins where Picasso could be found until his death in 1973.
