Sit back, relax, and enjoy as we take an afternoon stroll around the Pink City of Toulouse, France.
Toulouse, often called “La Ville Rose” (The Pink City) for its unique terracotta brick buildings, is a lively city situated along the River Garonne in southwestern France. As the fourth-largest city in the country, it serves as a key center for the European aerospace industry, housing the headquarters of Airbus and the Toulouse Space Centre. The city is steeped in history, featuring notable sites like the Romanesque Basilique Saint-Sernin and the medieval Couvent des Jacobins. Toulouse is also celebrated for its vibrant cultural scene, with attractions such as the Muséum de Toulouse and the Cité de l’Espace, and bustling squares like Place du Capitole. Its regional cuisine and traditional sweets further enhance its appeal, making Toulouse a charming destination for travelers.
Today’s walk takes us through Saint-Etienne, Saint-Georges, Capitole, and Carmes neighborhoods. We’re just wandering aimlessly, turning whatever corner we find. Along the way, we’ll see beautiful French architecture with an obvious bit of Spanish inspiration, stumble upon Palais De Niel, and discover many fountains and sculptures. Winding our way through the busy streets and small alleys, we’ll pass many majestic cathedrals and churches, such as Saint Stephen’s and Notre-Dame de la Dalbade on the way to the Garrone River. From here, we’ll head back into city center and end our tour exploring more of the lively shopping and dining destinations.
