Lake Okutama In The Tokyo Ozarks
About Lake Okutama (or 奥多摩湖 in Japanese), the internet says “Surrounded by mountains, the lake is beautiful throughout the seasons and makes for a popular and easily accessible day trip from Tokyo.”
But the town of Okutama (population: 4,949) serviced by Okutama Station which is the very last stop on the JR Ome Line actually is in Tokyo—–albeit, on the farthest edge in the western part of the “Big Mikan” city I’m calling the Tokyo Ozarks because it looks like that part of Missouri to me.
