  1. In Bulgaria you can try the local fast food choices
-BBQ places ( for kebapche kufte in breed or something like that)
-places for traditional food on self surving type (all famous Bulgarian homemade foods that require too much time to prepare and not going to find them often outside of lunch menu.)
-Banica and pastry kind of places
And ofc you can just go to average restaurant and find good suggestions for foods from the internet. I kinda agree with the comments being annoyed for you eating lebanese food and pizza 😀

  2. There is no such thing as "real Bulgarian food"… Anything you can possibly try exists somewhere else too. So I can understand that you try to find something faster and cheaper.
Having said that – there are nice and relatively cheap places to try things, which are a bit more related to Bulgaria and what Bulgarians eat daily.

  3. I thought that was Toronto TTC streetcars for a sec there, those red ones. So they are trams then? I can't remember what I called them when there, but I definitely tend to say streetcar based on living in Toronto my whole life. I am so glad you have been getting sunshine and decent temps to enjoy. I also really loved seeing the ruins preserved like that dabbled all over the place in Sofia and Plovdiv in particular, but also Varna and other places. The age of the civilizations compared to here in Canada is baffling and amazing to me. It makes me want to learn more history. I always say that if I had a super power it would be to be able to conjure up what a place was like in it's day, like being a ghost walking through and witnessing. You are definitely inspiring me to delve deeper into Sofia when we visit again. And… you know I can't wait until you visit Varna, my planned place of residence soon. And.. I'm good with corn on pizza. I am personally a lover of kvarma, a pork and vegetable stew that can be made with chicken too I think, that would be perfect for a cool day, if you come across it somewhere. Have fun on your adventures and thank you for these. I love them.

  4. Guys, save your time and skip Sunny Beach. It is absolutely pointless to visit it in February. The place is empty now, outside summer season that starts in June. Visit Varna or Burgas instead.

  5. Hello there, a good Bulgarian typical restaurant, for good for and just overpriced tourist attraction is the "Contessa" restaurant. No credits cards are accepted but the food there is really close to what the Bulgarians eat every day. Enjoy and have a nice stay in Sofia. I was in Hamilton, Toronto, Montreal and Sherbrooke, Quebec twice. Your country is very nice too!

  6. Canadians thought of putting pineapple on pizza, why not corn on pizza? Just kidding. Bulgarians ( Balkans in general), we always give advice, whether they are wanted or not. Most of us are trying to be helpful, we will keep advising you, as we are very far from the non intrusive Canadian nature. Most restaurants with BG food have turned to tourist traps and are expensive. Great video.

  7. On trams and trolleys and /sweet/corn. "Streetcar named desire" was I reckon the name of the play by T. Williams, that made Marlon Brando famous. And Yes it is Underground in UK, Subway in US/CA, Metro in Europe. And often the trains of the Underground/Subway/ go above the ground. Cheaper…
My point was that if you say to smbd in Sofia – Take trolley #1,2,3,4,5,/no 6/7,8,9 they will take trolley-bus, if you say to them – Take tram # 1,3,4,5,6,76,8,10,12, 15 – they will take tram…
Trolley-bus – goes without railway lines but with two el. lines above. From your words, I'd reckon you haven't seen trolley-bus in Sofia. Never mind, a trifle, just saying.
Now the tough one – should there be corn in pizza. It is OK, as they try to diversify, from tomatoes, peppers and… not much else as vegetables for pizza. So I've eaten tasty pizza, and cheap, with smoked chicken, corn, pickled cucumbers, smoked cheese etc.
But sweet corn, canned, is new thing in Bg. About the new harvest one can have it – it is eaten and sold on the outside stands in two ways – boiled or baked, but always with…salt. No two ways about it.

  8. If you're looking to rent an apartment, you might want to avoid the area near the mosque and Pirotska Street due to many illigal immigrants from arab origin (I do not think it is unsafe but I personally think it is the worst part of Sofia). Instead, consider neighborhoods like Ivan Vazov, Lozenets, Iztok, or Dianabad, which are well-developed and located near the city center.

  9. Thank you for your video, you are doing a great job. We are in Spain/Portugal for 5 months and we use Lyca mobile for our internet phone service. It cost us €10 for 30 days for 20gb. We are able to renew each month for the €10 and so they say it works anywhere in the EU. Keep on enjoying.

  10. As a native, I love watching your videos! Here are some recommendations for restaurants in Varna: Staria Chinar (many locations) – more traditional and meat-based food; Nemo (on the port) – seafood (their fish soup and italian bread sticks are delicious) and of course Happy 🙂 And you don't have to stick to bulgarian food only!
I'm glad you are enjoying Bulgaria even in this cold weather.
P.S. Yes to sweet corn on pizza!

  11. If you want to visit another archaeological site, visit the underground level of the Church of St. Sophia – there was a Roman necropolis there a long time ago. 😉 Enter the church and if you don't find it on the left side, ask for the entrance to the basement level, I think you'll be interested.

  12. Your opening shot was done in front of the Supreme Judiciary Council – the authority that among others promotes and fires judges, the chiefs of supreme courts, the chief prosecutor. This is one of the places in sunny Bulgaria where the eye of Sauron resides.
And boy the extent of corruption and Russian evil that there is in this beautiful country.
Enjoy your nonchalant stroll down the boulevards of Sofia.

  13. Next time you’re in the same region (old Sofia) – go ahead and try Los Muchachos tex-mex. It’s located on Tzar Simeon 51 street ! Great tacos and fresh beer just 2 mins away from Kaufland !
