Bayeux, France and D Day Remembrance Sites

The Normandy Region in northwestern France has a rich history dating back thousands of years. The town of Bayeux, in particular, has been the center of two history-altering events nearly 1000 years apart, both involving a crossing of the English Channel. By no means a definitive or even detailed history, here is a brief day-excursion tour with glimpses of the Bayeux Tapestry Museum, Our Lady of Bayeux Cathedral, two D-Day landing sites and the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, the final resting place for 9,387 American service members who died during the Allied liberation of France in World War II.
