This cathedral is located in a city famous for lighting things ablaze. Sitting only 800 meters from where they burn Jonah Bark alive, the city of Rua roast the most beautiful building in town with one of the most ridiculous light shows you will ever see. We found out about this show from a bus stop ad because I guess when your McDonald’s is as beautiful as this, it doesn’t need to buy up all the advertising space in town. By day, this cathedral is a must visit. The details on the outside are insanely intricate, and the western facade, where the psychedelic nighttime magic happens, is the widest in all of France. I mean, just look at this. Just like people, beauty can sometimes be found on the inside. And the interior of this Gothic masterpiece that is free to visit is on par with the most beautiful cathedrals in all of Europe. There were Viking and English kings buried here as well as tributes to the legendary Jon of Arc. But that’s not why you clicked on this video. Unlike most cathedrals that keep things old school, the Cathedral the Notraam Dua is writing a fresh history and setting the bar for how cities can showcase the greatest buildings in the world. So when other buildings like this go night, this cathedral goes into party mode and has been doing so ever since 2012. At 61 m wide and 82 m tall, even Elon Musk doesn’t have a TV screen this big. Attracting over 300,000 people every year, this show takes place every night, rain or shine, during summer. They say the best things in life are free, and this show is a new school testament to that expression. There are two halves to the show. The first half is a light show that spotlights the rich culture of Normandy and is just a ridiculous display of where technology is at these days. The second half of the show is where the people who engineered this light spectacle somehow managed to outdo themselves and turned this cathedral into arguably the most trippy psychedelic display ever created. Now known in France as the Cathedral de Lumiere, this cathedral’s night mode is beyond enough of a reason to make the trip out here to Rua that is located only 100 km west of Paris. All you can say is this is absolutely ridiculous on an 800-year-old cathedral. This is just a perfect example of France flexing its muscles once again to show us why it is the most visited country in the world year after year after year. The show last about 24 minutes, with two halfs.
The first half is a show that celebrates the tradition and cultures of Normandy France. Castles, knights, vikings, serpents and more, the church turns into a cinema that puts on one of the coolest movies of Normandy you will ever see.
The Second part is an insane light show that makes the Cathedral go into Psychedelic Mode. The way the colors transform and patterns overlay on to the already ridiculously intrecate church facade make it seem like its gained another dimension
