Berlin East Side Gallery Walking Tour 🇩🇪 Iconic Street Art & Berlin Wall | Germany 4K

This a relaxing summer walk along Berlin’s famous East Side Gallery, the longest remaining stretch of the Berlin Wall. The gallery is covered in iconic murals and street art created by artists from around the world, symbolizing freedom, unity, and hope after the fall of the Wall in 1989. The East Side Gallery is one of Berlin’s top attractions and landmarks.

This walking tour starts near the Berlin East Station (Ostbahnhof) and follows the Wall along the Spree River and Mühlenstraße to Oberbaumbrücke (U-Bahn bridge with interesting architecture), capturing the atmosphere of Berlin in warm spring-summer weather.

As a little bonus, there is one more short walk from the East Side Mall over the Warschauer Bridge, just a few meters from the East Side Gallery/Oberbaum Bridge. A very cool view on Berlin as the perfect ending of this Berlin Walking Tour.

Berlin history:

After World War II, Germany and Berlin were divided into East and West, with the Berlin Wall built in 1961 to separate the two sides. For nearly three decades, the Wall stood as a powerful symbol of the Cold War and the division between East and West Germany. When the Wall finally fell in 1989, it marked the beginning of German reunification and a new era for Europe.

Today, the East Side Gallery is the longest remaining section of the Wall, transformed into an open-air gallery featuring more than 100 murals. It’s a reminder of Berlin’s divided past and stands for freedom and unity.

Berlin is the capital of Germany and with 3,7 million inhabitants the largest German city. The origins of Berlin date back to the 12th century.
