What Makes ANA’s The Room Business Class So EXTREMELY LUXURIOUS?

After an amazing time in Japan, it was time to fly back home. And as luck would have it, a couple of seats opened up on ANA the room, allowing me and Yang to fly together for the first time. But first, the drama. Now, I always rave about how everything is amazing in Japan, but I can tell you this time the airport was an absolute shambles. Perhaps because it was a new terminal and new staff. I have no idea. Basically, they asked us to not wait in the business class line, but to wait in the excess baggage line. Now, this line went on and on. There were not many people. It just took a really long time and we were getting very nervous. And asking over and over again, they said it was going to be fine. Well, that was not the case. In fact, they checked in all of our bags until the last one. And when they got to the last bag, they turned around and said, “I’m sorry. You guys can’t fly anymore. You have timed out.” Absolutely shocking. And as you can see, the bags had already been tagged. Well, this was the first time that I’ve ever raised my voice in Japan. And indeed that was the only thing that seemed to work because a supervisor came over and suddenly it was possible to get us through. It took them over one hour just to get our bags through. Then they told us that we cannot fly and after a lot of fighting with them, we were sent through like the diplomatic route. Now we’re finally about to get the plane looking like this. Yang is also pissed off but uh at least we’re making it. So, let’s hope that the the the flight is worth this hassle. Despite being drenched in sweat and dampened spirits, we were still hoping that the experience was going to indeed be as good as it had always been, cuz this was the first time that we were flying together. And let me tell you, from the moment we walked in, everything was perfect. We were welcomed super warmly and shown to the best seat in business class in the sky. At least in my opinion. Here we have the ANA, the room, the widest business class seat that exists. Seeing the menu, the free Wi-Fi, the amenity kit, and a glass of champagne very quickly took away any bad taste out of our mouths that we had just had. Indeed, sitting down here, I remembered how incredible this plane and this specific seat is. Not only that, but this was our first time flying together in business class, and that was on ANA, the room, and so we were super excited for this experience. Hello. So guys, as you can see, me and Yang can very easily sit in one seat together. Look at this. This is just one. There’s my seat. And aside for the food, absolutely. Uh yes. to show you the most that we can. We’re going to order completely different meals like the Wagyu beef shank. Looks crazy. Yes, indeed. Now, you can see how quickly you can go from absolutely upset to extremely excited. We had these two big pillows for each person, and we were very ready for our very comfortable flight. We were looking at all the controls, ready to turn this into a nice comfortable bed and enjoy the Wi-Fi on this 14-hour flight. Now you may be wondering how did we get two seats on points in business class on ANA the room and that is called flexibility. We actually just got uh an alert that told us there were two seats available about 2 days before we were meant to fly with our original flight on Swiss and we were able to cancel that and rebook on ANA. Anyway, let’s get down to checking out our rooms. And here you can see with the doors closed and with the middle partition open, you have something akin to a double room together. If you’re flying alone, I would advise you to take the window seat. And if you’re interested in how that feels like or what that was like when I flew, please check out my other video. And here you can see the doors that close. You can close one of the two parts so that it is easy for someone to give you your drinks or whatever else. But of course, most of the time you want to keep everything closed so you feel like you’re on a private plane almost. To be honest, I’m not sure you’d even have more space than this on a private jet, unless it’s some gigantic one. But this will definitely do us. And uh you’ve always seen me in one of these seats. Now you see what it looks like for a 50 kilo lady. Absolutely gigantic. She absolutely looks like a little child in her little room there. and she was very happy, ready to sit down, take some photos, have some drinks, and wait for the most delicious food in the sky. Now, I do have to say Qatar Airways has some amazing dishes, but I do have a soft spot for Japanese food. First, let’s check out how this turns into a bed. Here you can see Yang putting down her seat, and this shows what the actual bed shape looks like. Later on, we’ll show you when the bed is made. Now, I received quite a few questions in the comments in my previous videos asking whether this is really that comfortable. And let me say, unless you’re taller than 2 m, yes, this is extremely comfortable. If you’re over 2 m, you might have to sleep at a bit of an angle. But if you’re less than 2 m or as small as Yang, this is what it’s going to look like. A little haven in the sky. I’m about 5’11 or 1 m 78. And when I sleep here, I have absolutely no problem. I even sleep in kind of like a superman position with my arm outstretched, which in this case, I do have to keep my arm at an angle. But let me tell you, I’m not going to be complaining. If I’m sitting in a business class like this for 14 hours, I am just in heaven. And I have to say that unless, like I said, you’re really tall, you are going to have a very comfortable time. Now, what is true is that you don’t get a very thick mattress topper. So, if you like very soft beds, you might want to ask for an extra cover or an extra mattress topper to make it softer. But for me and for Yang, this was absolutely perfect. Super comfortable and very good for my back. Now, keep in mind that we gave up a direct flight from Tokyo to Zurich to fly via Heathrow. And let me tell you, it is absolutely worth it. This is a business class where you really don’t want the flight to end. I do know that some people have found this flight to not be ideal. But as somebody who values space and privacy and amazing Japanese food, this is really I mean there are very few flights that go between Japan and Europe that are better than this. Now, here is the bed in its full glory once it’s been made. I mean, you cannot tell me that this does not look comfortable. And especially if you’re traveling with your partner, this is a really cozy little setup. Now, yes, this is the only flight from Haneda to Heithra where you get the room, but there are multiple other US routes where you can also enjoy this amazing business class. Here’s a view from above. So, you can see our little room closed on both sides. And believe me, when you’re in there, you just feel like you’re the only people on the plane. It feels like a private flight. And uh perhaps you noticed this earlier, but we are actually flying backwards. Yes, indeed. The seats that are together face the back of the plane. And although this was quite a strange thing to feel while taking off, once you’re in the air, you don’t notice anything. Now, let’s look a little bit more around the seat. You have the 17 in LCD screen, which is definitely a very big bonus. It’s like a little cinema when you’re in the seat and watching this and the lights are out. Really cool. You have an international power socket and a USBC as well as an HDMI port. This little storage area here I find very cool. I just find the whole design of this thing really amazing, I have to say. And yeah, it’s a great place to put like your phone or your iPad and so on. As mentioned before, the two doors are actually operated individually and both with a button. Something that is surprisingly convenient is having the audio plugs for the headphones on both sides of the seat. Right under the screen, you have another little nook where you can put your phone or something small, some coat hangers to hang your coat, some individual reading lights from both sides, and the fabric is great. And the leather paneling also amazing. It just uh not very colorful, but still it just works. It’s just so perfectly Japanese, I feel. Now, 14 hours might seem a bit daunting, but I can assure you that it passes in a flash. With these amazing TV screens and amazing entertainment, time just flies. Now, time would definitely not fly if you were hungry. And that is one thing that you won’t be on this plane. Once airborne, we had our drinks and we got served our first Amuz Bush, which is a signature cracker with some chicken, ham, tomatoes, and olives. Now, as Yang had chosen the Japanese menu, this was the Japanese starter. It was made of three different dishes. The first one was the grilled anago, which is sea eel. It also had, I think it was poached red sea bream. Absolutely delicious, too, with a special jelly and like a chicken tin roulette. Now, this was my starter, which was the western starter. Doesn’t look very western, does it? But I can assure you that doesn’t mean it’s not absolutely delicious. Now, nothing is ever spicy enough for me, so it’s carrying my own chilies. But this meal consisted of grilled octopus and a funny jelly. There’s a lot of jelly involved in these dishes, but I can promise you it doesn’t taste bad at all. In fact, it was absolutely delicious. There was lobster there, some prawn, and a tomato, and some salmon eggs. Absolutely amazing. Like I said, not that western, but it comes also with olive oil, butter, salt, pepper, and some deliciously warm and crusty bread. This was an absolute winner in my eyes. Now, here’s a look at the Japanese main course, which was a grilled fish and also beef cheek in a stew with mushrooms. Yang said it was very tasty, and it also came with a side of avocado, a plum, and some soup. I, on the other hand, had the absolutely mindblowing Wagyu beef shank. This was absolutely delicious. And again, I wouldn’t call it specifically western food. I can tell you it was 100% amazing. It was so soft. It was just breaking apart with just a bit of pressure. So succulent. And the sauce, oh my god. Finally, for dessert, there was a kind of vermicelli thing. Very tasty as well, but I was absolutely stuffed from the main course and the starter. Now, before I overload you with even more delicious food, let’s have a look at some of the things that you get with your flight. Now, of course, you get some earphones to use on the flight. These are really good quality, sound cancelling, and also very comfortable. This is the amenity kit. It’s a real shame that they’ve changed from the old one, which was so cool, but this is also not bad. Nothing to complain. They have some good quality items in there. Some creams, you know, moisturizers and a sleep mask, socks, and also a little shopping bag. What’s also really cool is that there are extra amenities in the galley that you can pick up whenever you want. You will also find a selection of little snacks in the galley. This is our hall for a little movie session. All kinds of delicious little bits. But this is not everything. You can actually order warm food at any time. Our first warm snack from the alakart menu were these warm onigiri with some tempura and an omelette. Yang ordered a little sandwich too, but this unfortunately was quite disappointing, she said. But that was the only thing that was disappointing because after this we had the very fabled and delicious Iudo ramen. Warm, spicy, and hearty. This is something that I never miss when I fly with ANA. Now, there was something that I hadn’t seen on the menu before, and that was the Platon rice curried. And let me tell you guys, this absolutely vegan dish is unbelievable. Just like the ramen, this is vegan, too. Anyone can enjoy it. And I can tell you that the fake chicken katsu tastes exactly like chicken katsu. We were both so impressed. And the curry was so hearty and thick and spicy. It was absolutely delicious. This is 100% now my favorite hot snack to have on ANA and the best hot snack that I’ve had on any airline in my life. But now back to the main courses. This was our next meal and I chose the fried rice which is the western choice. Basically supposed to be maybe a paella kind of thing but I can tell you it was really really delicious. The prawns were cooked perfectly. This here was Yang’s choices the Japanese menu and she had a very very delicious piece of poached fish in a nice sauce with some rice, miso soup and a side of vegetables. She was over the moon with this. She said the fish was so succulent, delicious, flaky, and she had no regrets. I had no regrets. All in all, amazing food. So guys, another amazing flight, another incredible experience with ANA. And uh I can assure you that I’m definitely not sponsored by ANA because I promise you if I was, oh my god, my life would be complete. And of course, I would tell you if that was the case. But this has been uh a really immaculate experience, I have to say. It’s so nice. It’s so private. I really cannot explain to you what it’s like to to be able to close these doors. You feel like you’re the only person on the plane. You really do. And that makes it so nice. And especially if you’re flying with somebody else. I mean, I usually fly by myself. Not always. I fly with her, too. But, uh, to be able to experience it like this, you know, 14 hours together next to each other. Amazing. I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
