CamperVan Tour Normandy France Part 3 Honfleur
Heading over the Ponty Normandy or the scary bridge as we like to call it. Cost us about six quid. It goes over the river. And we haven’t actually said good morning, but good morning. This is part three of our French Odyssey. And we are on the way to Honflur. Have I pronounced that right? Ol. Oh, you don’t pronounce a lot of stuff in French. What’s the matter with them? Anyway, this is the river s as we just said or the sen [Music] and it’s pretty awesome. So, not far to go, only 8 minutes. Hopefully, fingers crossed there is some space in the uh elder camping camping cars. Didn’t know Creo’s looking at the hotel, aren’t you? Yeah. What you’re laughing at cuz pronunciations drop. Yeah. The camping cars. So, yeah. What do you want me do? Do you want me to say it? You tell me on Oh, you’re on. Crack on. Tell me what it is. Yeah. You said it perfect actually. That’s why I was laughing. Turn right then your destination will be on the left. Here we go. S Princess Lomboot. My god. There’s a space that this one. There you go. Perfect. We got in the place with no bother at all. And it looks like we’re right next to an electric hookup. So, we’ll have a little look at that. I did have a bit of an emergency braking situation going on. I forgot that the uh traffic comes from the left on the roundabout and I had to slam the brakes on. And look what’s happened. Everything’s come flying through from the back. Well, we know the brakes work. Basically, this is the uh Damon car in on floor. We are over here. I was backed up into a space there, but the electric wasn’t working. Yeah, this is where I was parked, but I’ve ended up a little bit further around the corner. And as you can see, I’ve got some electricity in and it is working. Powering the fridge anyway, but you’re going to need a long lead cuz it goes all the way along there. So, this is right where we parked virtually in the middle of Flur. You can park on the uh left or on the right over there. And all you do when you want to come into the town, you just come out over this bridge. It’s a swing bridge. That’s what it’s called. I’m not going to try and pronounce it. And I think uh I videoed the two ships like the river cruisers that were in here last night. So I mean that’s the town there. You can see it’s pretty close. So pleasant little few minutes walk. That’s all it is. Just along the keyside. So this is basically an inlet of the uh River Sen and it’s uh it’s got lock gates on it. So, it’s up and down. And the two big boats, I heard them go out. It was either last night when I went to bed or it was this morning when I woke up. I can’t remember. Now, you do have some little shops here and a couple of cafes just over the road there. But it’s basically round the corner where you want to be. I don’t know whether you can see them fish, but they’re quite big. got to be about 18 in long or so. We can see how the blazing sun behind me there. So, we got it crossing across. It’s a busyish road. They are pretty good at stopping, he says. You’ve got two or three hotels here. And this one in the end, the budget hotel. That’s where Crimo has got his little room. I’ve been up there and had a look at it. It’s carry enough. Nice and clean. Does the job. All you’re going to do is sleep in there. Trying not to get run over. You can see how close we are to the town where I was parked. That’s Creo’s Hotel just on the left there. And you can see the big boat. So, it’s literally just I don’t know maybe less than 4 500 yards or meters through the pretty little streets and round to the old harbor. And wow, what do you think of this? It has to be one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been to. And we had a chance to do this with at our hometown uh which is Harley. We have a lovely marina there, but they built it back to front. So the shops and everything are behind a car park. Some kind of pies selfish kind of cheese with Primo is having some kind of well it’s a little tasty. So you take it out bit by bit. It’s like a snail. See snail but big fish. There’s a bit of a shell there you take off. It tastes like uh what do you call piri pi? So tender then. So cream’s persuaded you to have a little of this uh rubber rice thing. So I haven’t even had that much to drink. I’ve only had about half. [Music] All right. Good. It’s all right. And what have you got? You’ve got fish. I’ve got a uh skate skate wing. Skate wing. And I’ve got the uh local sausage in a creamy sauce. It’s chicken. Chicken. I’ve got chicken. But I did order the sausage. I did order the sausage. Yeah. I’m sorry. You said sausage. I thought it sausage looked very much like chicken. I’m sorry. Mo, what have you done? Me the wrong when she came over to to take the order. I was thinking sausage, sausage, sausage. And then I said chicken, but I know I’m sure it’s lovely. Right. Let’s have a try of this chicken. [Music] Sorry. K’s just ruining me video, coughing all over the place. I’m a drink. So, it’s basically chicken. What should we try? Beautiful. Yeah, beautiful. But it needs to be for the price. Not like me to be extravagant, but you know There you go. Last piece all gone. It was the sauce what made it absolutely beautiful. This is rice pudding. Meal has got ri which is rice pudding with caramel sauce. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I know. It looks nice. And I’ve gone for the basic ice cream. So, I’ll leave in charge of uh ordering the food and everything. She says, “Oh, yeah. This isn’t a bad price. like a three course meal. It’s only €24 and we get a uh a beer with it. It ended up being 80 180. We misinterpreted what it said. Yeah, but I don’t speak French, you know. He he he should know better. The very very small writing at the top. Oh, that’ll be what it is. That’s what it was. Little walk along on flur. We got a little seagull down here. Well, he’s not a little. He’s a big one. You see how beautiful it is just sitting out here on the side in the sunshine? What do you expect? It was never going to be cheap, was it? It’s for sale there if you fancy that. What a beautiful little spot, eh? It’s a bit like Whitby on steroids. [Music] To be fair, I did really enjoy the food. It was really nice. What you scoring it? I would say at least eight. Yeah, the food. The food. Yeah, eight. Definitely. Definitely an eight. That uh creamy sauce was absolutely beautiful. So, this is what they call the old basin. I’m guessing it’s because it’s u the old base. [Music] Meanwhile, over in the Caribbean, Brendy seems to have got the party started early in the day. She’s even stolen a golf boogie, I think it is. God knows where she’s got this from. And what have I told her about drinking on an MD8? [Music] Yep. Any of these would do. Of [Music] course, this is the church tower over here. I think we might have made a mistake and ended up in Whitby. Actually, it’s pretty much just like it [Music] has just remarked that the place is just like a living museum. The whole place everywhere you turn and look so beautiful. dog having a And just like Darham, there’s cars coming up ridiculously small, narrow streets, getting in everybody’s way. But I guess there’s a reason why. It was a bit like stepping back in time really. Very early. Look at this. Absolutely fantastic place. [Music] So, here we are again in another bar in another town. We’ve got pint of Goudal blonde. Cheers, my dears. Let’s have a look. Taste it. And as Crimo said, we haven’t had a bad V yet. But then again, we’re not paying two quid a bite either. But have a look. I think this one is the cheapest we’ve had. Yeah, it is. And it is $850. Yeah, just the 850. Yeah, €850. It’s ridiculous. But you know, when you’ve been here a week, you sort of just get used to the price, don’t you? It’s ridiculous. We’ll have a look and that’s where we sat. It was turning into a beautiful calm night. And just look at the place. You can’t help but fall in love with it. More beers is needed though, I think. But we’re definitely not going to be eating tonight. Oh, that’s nice. So, that creo said we weren’t going to be eating anymore today. No, this is nibble. This is not This is not Mr. Seagull. He’s uh he’s keen on this. Are you mate? Well, a perfect end to a perfect day. Just got to walk home now. It’s not too far though, is it? And what a beautiful night and a beautiful place to have to walk home in. So, these big boats or ships, I think the ships. They’re actually river cruisers. And I’ve just had a look at the price and it looks like the from about £2,000. That’s for 8 days. That’s with two people sharing. It might be a posh shape. They’re still drying the underpants in the window. Well, it’s a lovely morning, so it’s time to get up bright and early, make tracks, and head on to our next venue. I was really happy with the solar panels that I put around the van before we left. I’m getting up to 340 W there. Brilliant. Now would I recommend Onflur? Absolutely beautiful place. Little bit expensive but these touristy places are around the book. It is a beautiful spot. So don’t forget give us a thumbs up and uh subscribe and ring the bell and all that. Carry on and we will catch you next time. Bye-bye now.
