Port de Soller Mallorca Majorca 16th November 2025
Today’s Sunday. It’s the 16th of November. It’s 2025. And uh we’ve come now to Port of Soair. And uh it’s only a short drive. And we’re hoping that the weather’s going to hold out for us. There are some dark clouds around, but uh well, we’ll see. And those are the dark clouds that I’m talking around about. They seem to be heading in our direction, but uh there are also some blue sky as well. We just had breakfast in Portals in Portals now and we’ve driven here so have a little bit of a walk and we did have a few spots of rain this morning but It’s brightened up quite a bit. There are still clouds around and we’re in the Traantana. We’re in the mountain areas. So, very difficult to predict and uh quite often do get a lot of rain. Temperatures though still quite mild. Still 20° or so. So, I’m still in my short sleeves and shorts. Not so many people on the beach though. I’ve seen a a fisherman over there trying to catch some. Actually, there is someone who’s been swimming in the distance there. And there’s obviously some places still open. Chairs outside there. We’ve just gone past a bar that was definitely open. There was loud music coming from it. And the port here, because it’s uh it’s so enclosed, it’s fairly calm. There was a a little bit of a breeze. That’s the entrance to the port, which is almost circular, meaning that it doesn’t really suffer too much from storms. on the odd occasion it’s coming from that direction. It really does suffer. Um, so it’s a very rare thing. I’m guessing that the the tram isn’t running anymore. It tends to be a summer tourist thing. I’ll keep an eye out. Restaurant Las is open. So is this one? This might be part of the Esplendido Hotel actually. Real oldfashioned sort of hotel. Yeah. to look out to see if they have any offers on. So yeah, and Porto so are very popular in the winter with people who like walking. It’s uh not just this walk. We like this walk cuz it’s flat, but other people like walking in the mountains and uh what a great place to start. Two lighouses here, one on each headland. When we were on the east coast, we visited what’s referred to as a castle, but it’s more of a lookout tower. And I’m just noticing we’ve got one on the top of the mountain over there, a lookout tower. Another restaurant open. And it’s actually just coming up to lunchtime. I don’t think we’re going to be seeking any lunch yet there. We’ve only just had breakfast. Just wondering what the girls were looking at. But up on the top there, there’s two statues overlooking the sea. Oh, I said the tram might not be running, but the tram obviously is running. Perhaps it’s a little less crowded now than usual. Yeah, plenty of seats on. So, I guess if the tram’s running, the train is probably still running. Nice views from upstairs. Sit, have a coffee, and look over the port. Have a look at this shop. We’ve seen a shop. feather jacket €40. That’s a good price. Jesus. Getting a bit breezy now. Still people on the beach there. Seeds look lovely. says Oliver setting at his tables ready for lunch and putting out the reserved signs and Well done. No problem. Okay. Thank you. We walked into a photograph then. Sunbathers on the beach. Not a lot of sun at the moment, but you never know. I love you. Children seem happy enough playing in the sand and paddling in the water. Oops. That’s cafe. And that’s it. parasols, but no beds, I don’t think. No lounges. Hey speech. Yeah. It’s a 30 years. This is Sunday as well and you get uh families, Spanish families coming down to the sea for a walk along the prominard before lunch and hopefully they’ll be dining in some of the restaurants along here. Lemon pie tea rooms to be here. Really nice. Yeah, we missed the lemon tart pie tea room. It’s a was a nice little meeting place. Always used to look at the cups and sauces to see where they were made. Quite often they were made in Stoke on Trent. If you come by bus and you get the bus all the way down to uh the port, uh the uh the end point is just at the top of this road here, just a short walk down. And that’s what we do. We will catch the bus usually to Soya town. We usually get off there and if you go on a Saturday, you go to the market and then uh get the bus down into the port and then uh get the bus back from here all the way to Palma and by getting on the bus here, it’s usually empty. So you get guaranteed a seat. Whereas if you go to Soyer and try to get on the bus there, particularly on Saturday market day, you find it very crowded. So that’s my tip of the day for visiting Soya. This is the Fergus. This is the Fergus that we’ve actually dined here. We’ve eaten there, haven’t we? I think we had a lunch there and it was really good. Really impressed by it. But they’re not open now. They’re closed for the winter. It’s one of the bigger hotels on the front. Looks a bit touristy. Knickknacky. me. This port doesn’t have so many of the really big boats here. It’s mainly smaller boats and uh lots of the the local boats, but not on this line here, but the next one along they’re called Youts. And it’s a very typical Mayo Keen boat for going out fishing and just generally enjoying the sea. They always have different works of art here. Some of them are more permanent than others. That’s what that one’s looks particularly murk I think. like that. Took a few photos, different angles. Just stop a drink somewhere. Yeah. Yep. Got a mixture of iron and stone there. There a lovely piece of granite. A piece of iron with it. I There are some of the typical Spanish boats that I was mentioning here. Have like a a tall mast at the front and then a short one at the back and then one a pole that joins the two together. And uh using that they can rig up a a shade and you can sit and enjoy the time on out on the sea. Is it here that you had sardines? Maybe I can’t remember. I do remember having sardines where I can’t remember where he’s So, the restaurants here are actually filling up. It’s just coming up to lunchtime really. It’s uh almost 1:00. We’re going to have a look at these shops. Yeah. I’m going to carry on walking up further and I’ll come back this way somewhere here. We’ll see. Yeah. So, the girls are going into the shop so I can have a a walk a bit further around. Nice to see the restaurants really busy. And it isn’t even 1:00 yet. It’s just before 1:00. Ombrech. For those of you who’ve been watching the channel for a long, long time, this is where I famously fell over. I walked into one of these um moorings, bit further around. And uh I filmed it with with two cameras actually. One which was just an ordinary camera like this, but one which is actually a 360 camera. And I think if you watch the 360 video, you’ll find the hole fall there in its glory. Luckily, I didn’t hurt myself or damage the camera, so I suppose that’s much more important. Um, actually, it was quite funny at the time, I suppose. And there was some uh can’t remember. I think there might have been Norwegian tourists here who quickly came to my aid. wasn’t really an issue. I was just walking along and I just walked into one of these and lesson learned one of the bigger boats. Stormbringer don’t want any storm but the clouds are now touching the tops of the mountains. There is some blue sky as well. Bit of a mixture. Clouds are quite high. So hopefully we’ll escape the rain. And there’s actually the island pretty much is on yellow alert for rain. But um I think they’ve become very very nervous about weather not just in New York but in Spain in general because of the the problems associated with the Valencia um storms that they had that killed so many people and devastated so many villages and towns. Anyway, anytime now there’s a there’s a slightest possibility of rain. and they seem to give a yellow warning and I just hope that it doesn’t um have the effect of crying wolf and people just start to ignore it which is I suppose what we do really. We sort of ignore it. We look oursel at the weather ourselves um or I do and then make a determination of what it’s going to be like. And the main thing I look at are the radar pictures. If you look at the radar pictures, and uh you can now do animations, little videos of of what the uh the clouds and the rain is actually doing, it’s not too difficult to predict what it’s going to what’s going to happen over the next few hours. So, my prediction for today was that we we’re going to have some rain this morning, which we did, and that it would clear up, which it has. But we are surrounded by like big dark clouds. So anything is possible. Got these engines on. This might have been something like what I walked over there. And they do creep out in front of you. These are all fishing boats. I’ll go out and uh bring the catch in. And here we’ve got making a video here just like me. So, this is the uh the fishing office here. I guess they do the selling the auction of fishing fish. I’m not going to go any further now. I’m going to go back a different view as I walk back and I’ll try not to walk into any of these things and go flying. So yeah, very famous for its fish particular and prawers. So yeah, prawn very big prawns. Mandela all the engines running. These um moorings are really quite dangerous because they they do sort of creep up on you and they do stick out a long way which is why I fell over I think. Nice houses here as well. Fantastic views over the port and the tramant and our mountain range. um on a worldly scale. It’s not um they’re not particularly high peaks, but they are really quite beautiful and some of them reaching well over a thousand meters. So, they’re not little either and some quite spectacular cliff faces. As we were driving up, Angela was asking, is mountaineering or rock climbing a a thing here? And it is quite a big thing. Uh quite a lot of groups go climbing in the mountains. There are some well documented routes and uh groups who will happily take you on those things. And they’ve all been marked out and they’ve already got their uh places where you can hang from. Not for me of course, but everyone to their own thing. And uh it’s quite a fascinating sport. if you’re into that sort of thing. I do do love the mountains. I think they are really beautiful. It is actually a world heritage site, so it’s recognized internationally as something special. Wonder when you see a hill like that is how much more will they allow to be built? Well over halfway up there. Who’s going to get the house on the top? Okay. It’s one of the restaurants we’ve eaten at La Baya above it as well. Come on now. Well, I’m guessing they’re in the shop. So, just sit down and watch the world go by. I guess the ladies and of course, Anita’s managed to find something to buy. I’ll show you later. Show me later. Okay. Guarantee as well. One thing you can do if you buy if you buy something here and it’s more you spend more than I think 90 um you can claim the VAT back. So that’s like 20 20 odd%. It’s a bit of a palava to do to meet at the airport. Yeah, but it’s not a palava apparently. It’s really simple. You have to do it at the airport. You have to do it at the airport. You go to the place, you show them your receipts and your passport, and they just refund you the money. I bet there’s a lot of tourists who spend more than 90. It’s It’s only on certain things, but something like jewelry, I think, would be included. Um, but obviously if you go to a restaurant and spend €200, that’s not included. But, um, if you buy an item, lots of things are included. It’s certainly worth looking into. I believe they still here. and we’re going to find somewhere to go for a coffee. So, I’ll catch up with you there. Well, we found a cafe and the sun’s shining and well, I’ve got a coffee and got a coffee, but Angela, she’s on holiday, so she’s entitled to a beer. So, cheers everyone. and very nice. It is so you’re not missing out. I’ll let you have a look at the view as well. Somewhere where you can sit and watch the world go by. We just seen the tram go by. Lots of people. The sun’s really quite warm. Excuse me. We both Heat. Heat. Nice. I’ve had a lovely walk here in uh Port Doier and uh we’ve had no rain. It’s been uh bit breezy but been quite pretty. Thanks for watching. See you in the next one. Bye bye. Where the mountains meet the ocean. Where the sunlight warms the bay. There’s a harbor full of stories that the tides bring in each day. Little boats are swaying softly in the early morning air. And the lighthouse on the hillside keeps a quiet vigil there. Poured the shoulder shining softly in your golden autumn glow with your harbor’s gentle rhythm and the trem shadow part is solar I remember every step along your shore. You’re the place my heart returns to be still a little more. Through the groves of ancient our lives runs the old and faithful tradies where the fragrant breezes stand. As the daylight fades to amber and the sea turns silver blue, there’s a piece along the prominade that feels like coming home to you on the path toward to epic where the cliffs rise. as wild and high. You can watch the gulls in circles drawing patterns in the sky from the headlands rugged edges. All the world seems far below. And the whisper of the coastline sings the songs the sailors know. And the cabross light is burning like a lantern in the dusk. While the waves keep on returning in their steady endless trust part to sher keep your promise of the cal beyond the roar. I’ll return to you, beloved, when my heart needs you once more.

Nestled between the Tramuntana mountains and the curve of a sheltered bay, Port de Sóller is one of Mallorca’s most picturesque coastal towns. Its calm harbor, golden beaches, and sweeping views create a unique blend of seaside tranquility and dramatic Mediterranean scenery. In the quieter months, the port takes on an especially peaceful charm: fishing boats bob on the water, cafés slow their pace, and the surrounding hills glow with soft autumn light.
Above the bay rise two iconic sentinels — Cap Gros Lighthouse and the historic Sa Creu Lighthouse — guiding sailors for more than a century and offering some of the most spectacular lookout points in the region. Nearby, the old watchtower Torre Picada stands high on the cliffs, a reminder of Mallorca’s centuries-long coastal defences.
From the waterfront promenade to the classic Sóller tram rattling between citrus groves, the area invites gentle exploration. Hikers can follow paths into the mountains, while sea lovers enjoy calm views of the bay even in the cooler season. Whether you come for the scenery, the history, or the quiet atmosphere, Port de Sóller offers a timeless glimpse of Mallorca’s coastal beauty.
Thanks for watching.

Good morning minus 2 here
Such a lovely place. We stayed there several times but as we had to travel in school holidays, usually August, it was always very busy. Lovely hotels and great walking area. Thank you.
Hi Steve. Great video, as usual. Did the Lemon Pie close permanently? That’s a shame if so. It looked very nice from what you’ve shown in your videos. I very much enjoy your Soller and Port de Soller videos. Thank you 😁
If I don't translate it to Spanish I won't see it.
I stumbled on this one by accident, what a happy surprise. The port always looks wonderful & it's great that so many places are open out of tourist season.
