Amboise: the little royal town that could

Ambu is one of those places that manages to be charming, walkable and historic and is somehow still not swamped with tourists. The town dates back to Roman times, but things really took off in the Middle Ages. Ambas became a favorite of the French kings. Over time, it turned into a cultural hot spot with names like King Francis I am and Mary Queen of Scots all hanging around. It was the chat donos that was the place to be.
