Banking is a problem for an expat.
I was in Riyadh Saudi Arabia for the last 2 weeks of 2025. I had cash so i was able to deposit that in my GF local bank account and then she could pay for our activities, food etc. I attempted to use my Schwab debit card as well as my second card that I have from my US local bank. Both debit cards failed. To be fair I had spent the previous 2 1/2 months in Da Nang Vietnam and I did not try those cards. I had cash and it was an easy process to change money to dong from US $100 bills. At the end of this month I’ll be in Panama so I’ll try again there but I will keep as much cash as I’ll need for the trip expenses
