Solo diner at Anglothai, trying their plant-based tasting menu.

My experience with vegan / plant-based set menus have always been a little hit and miss, with many places feeling like they just took the protein off and replaced it with a vegetable. A lot of the courses at Anglothai were very very good – hitting on those strong thai flavours, with well-prepared veggies. For their signature poppy seed cracker, replacing the caviar with truffle was not the best substitute. The steamed and wok-fried oats were a standout dish. Lots of blended and pureed nuts, which added that fattiness missing from the lack of dairy.

Service was great, and staff attentive – there were only a couple covers at the start of service, but was full by mid evening and service remained very attentive and friendly. Table-side saucing of dishes was sometimes a little messy, with spills and uneven pours on a couple of dishes. Don't love that solo diners can only book at the start or end of service.

Overall great meal and good value for the amount of courses, though I do think the plant-based menus should be slightly cheaper than the meat one.
