Thailand has long been the undisputed king of tourism in Southeast Asia — famous beaches, legendary nightlife, and some of the best food on earth. But lately, something feels different.
Tourism numbers are slipping, the vibe is changing, and more travelers and expats are quietly choosing Malaysia instead of Thailand.

In this video, we break down:

Why Thailand’s tourism is declining

How over-tourism and changing visitor behavior are affecting local life

Why Malaysia is rising as the calmer, more polished alternative

The real differences between Thailand and Malaysia for travelers and expats

Which country offers a better quality of life right now

This isn’t about hating Thailand — it’s about understanding how Southeast Asia is changing and where the smart move might be in 2026 and beyond.

If you’re thinking about traveling, relocating, or living long-term in Asia, this video will give you a clear, honest comparison you won’t hear in most travel vlogs.

  1. There is no reason to choose Malaysia over Thailand at all. Everything is better in Thailand, and cheaper. Even the Thailand beaches are better. Malaysia just a slow and boring Muslim country.

  2. The comparison in this video focuses heavily on infrastructure and tourism numbers, but one important factor was not clearly depicted – Malaysia’s multicultural foundation. Malaysia is built on the coexistence of Malays, Chinese, Indians and indigenous communities, and that diversity is reflected in its food, festivals, languages, architecture and everyday social life.

Tourism is not just about beaches or nightlife; it is also about cultural depth and variety. Malaysia offers multiple cultural experiences within one destination, and that layered diversity is a competitive advantage. The video would have been more complete if it had acknowledged how multiculturalism contributes to Malaysia’s tourism appeal and national positioning.

  3. Please come to my city, Kuching Sarawak for totally different vibes. West Malaysia is more developed in infrastructures, while East Malaysia more relaxed and calm.

  4. All lies here…Thailand is no 1 in South East Asia.. Malaysia has nothing..poor Internet, poor food poor people..no beaches..just rocks and rubbish everywhere

  5. you all need to know that southern Thailand was once a Malay land colonized by Siam..hopefully it will gain independence and to be honest Malaysia is better for tourism, the place to live is good, friendly people, delicious food, many interesting places

  6. I am Thai, and I also love Malaysia…It's my lovely neighbor.🇹🇭💕🇲🇾
    Tourists also like both countries
    😊👍💕🍄🐶🎡😼🍭🎉❤️

  7. Of Course… Thailand❤❤❤ Willnot choose malaysia… Their mindset are very extremist.. Mindset not open, very narrow.. Nothing special in msia, the enviroment in malaysia isvery common… In Thailand is very freedom.. As long we didn't do anything wrong against the Thai laws. In Malaysia…Like this cannot , Like that cannot.. Everything they said against their religion.. U see…. other country, they have male beauty contest, got female beauty contest.. Here malaysia got nothing special.. Those smart people from oversea , once they visit malaysia for the first time.. Next time they will not come to malaysia anymore… Nothing attractive… That is the true.. Myself i go to thailand more than 50 times , especially bangkok. Future time must another provinces, outside of bkk. You can feel the aura very different in between malaysia & Thailand.

  8. DON'T WASTE TIME AND MONEY, I AM A MALAYSIAN, THAILAND IS ALWAYS CHEAP ON SPICY FOODS, ALCOHOL, EXOTIC AND WILD WOMEN, AND MARIJUANA OPENLY, U CAN'T GET THESE GEMS IN MALAYSIA. ONE GREAT OLD AND WISE AMERICAN EVEN SAYS WE LIVE ON TREES AND HAVE NO MONEY .

  9. malaysia or thailand? easy to answer – of course thailand ! you won't last a day in Malaysia – too boring 😆 sincere review from a Malaysian

  10. Honestly your holiday experience these days is closely tied with your race and nationality.

Thailand is a net negative experience if you are a tourist from India for an example.

General feeling of Thailand not being as fun as it used to be if you are caucasion etc etc.

If you are Malaysian than Thailand is a gem for short holidays and getaways.

    So there is that.

  11. Go to Cambodia, go to Vietnam. Truthfully, Malaysia is really bad, too difficult. We have gon thru and still ongoing hardship. Not peace and calm as you expect. There's nothing here like the vid claimed. Cambodia and Vietnam would be better. In fact, Indonesia also is great. Don't come to Malaysia, we have nothing to offer. Really.

  12. Whatever in the vid mentioned Malaysia this and that, nice try. Those are at Indonesia. Jakarta and Jogjakarta and Surabaya. It's not kuala lumpur or penang or whatsoever. We don't have that so called vibrant. Again, there's nothing here in Malaysia. That's Indonesia, don't get confused.

  13. พวกเรายินดีต้อนรับทุกท่าน เที่ยวเมืองไทยให้สนุก ขอคุณพระรัตนตรัยคุ้มครองทุกท่านครับ.❤❤❤❤❤
