Lavender Fields travel tips (Valensole, Provence, France) 🪻🇫🇷

Don’t visit lavender fields until you read this.

I visited Valensole in Provence and learned these 4 mistakes will ruin your trip! Since I have lupus (autoimmune disease) it was so important that I paid close attention to these factors otherwise this would’ve made the trip horrible.

    1. You’re in trouble if you have no car or tour! It is not easy to get to the lavender fields and you definitely are not going to have luck with public transportation.

    2. The best time to visit is late June to early August but that is not a strict timing. Locations vary and harvest season matters. If you are going to Valensole, earlier in the season is good. By the end of July, most will be harvested. If you’re coming later in the season, you’ll want to go to a higher altitude because those lavender field will not be harvested yet

    3. BEES 🐝🐝🐝 You can’t avoid them. Don’t wear fragrances and don’t make certain movements or swap them and you’ll be fine. I had to walk through fields of bees, but they’re just living their best pollinating lives.

    4. Prioritize your safety and comfort! It is very easy to roll your ankles with the uneven ground and rocky surface. And the heat is intense. I usually do well with heat and I definitely felt sick during my visit because there was a heat wave. If I could do it again, I would’ve definitely brought a wide brimmed hat too.
