Ji-Cube is a Sichuan / Japanese fusion restaurant in the Roponggi neighborhood. I had seen it recommend a few times here, so thought I would give it a shot.

Ended up really enjoying the meal here. Sichuan is one of my favorite cuisines, and I hadn’t had many “elevated” takes on it. I was a bit worried that the heat would be muted being in Japan, but that did not end up being the case. Some of the Japanese diners were struggling with the spice of a few dishes.

My favorite were the tilefish and waygu. The peach compote dessert was also fantastic given it is peach season at the moment.

This has to be one of the best value meals in Tokyo at around $100 USD. Service was very kind—one of the waitress went out of her way to try to explain the dishes to me.

It’s a pretty easy place to book and I will certainly return in the future. I was told they change the menu every 2 months, so curious to see how much menu turnover there ends up being.

Thanks to all the people on this sub who put this on my radar!
