Personal vlog of Simon, Deryl and Toffee’s fantastic road trip to the Outer Hebrides, inspired by the awesome travel adventures of Andrew Ditton. Check out his channel here:

It all started in 2016/17, when after having a burning desire to visit Scotland for the first time, I Googled ‘caravan to Scotland’. The first YouTube video that appeared was one by Andrew Ditton, and I began to follow his journey and was astounded that someone could be brave enough to tow a caravan where some may think unimaginable, without electric hook up or anything!

We had a rough route in mind, but having booked nothing at all (not even ferry crossings) we set off to go with the flow in April 2018 at 3am and drove from Brighton to Glasgow, arriving at 12 midday. We set off the next morning and headed for Skye then the Outer Hebrides! While on the Islands we ‘off-grid’ for the entire two weeks we were there, and completely self sufficient ‘wild camping’ at various locations for around a week! The sense of adventure was so exciting, and also very relaxing. A real sense of freedom. The Scottish are always very friendly, relaxed and hospitable. We didnt want to come home!

We also visited Oban, Mull, Fort William, Edinburgh, including Arthurs Seat, the Kelpies, Falkirk Wheel, the Forth Bridge, and Royal Yacht Britannia, and covered over 2,000 miles in total with our Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE TD4 auto, towing our excellent Coachman VIP 520/4 caravan.

Hope you enjoy our little video, dedicated to Andrew and all the lovely people of The Outer Hebrides.

Thanks for watching!

Simon, Deryl, and Toffee
