This is Hiroshima. We have always wanted to travel here and visit the city where the first atomic bomb was dropped. In all honesty, before arriving we didn’t know what to expect and how we would feel in the place that has felt and witnessed so much heartache. Hiroshima is Japan’s most infamous city. This is all because at 08:15 am on the 16th August 1949, Hiroshima became the first place on Earth to feel the devastating effects of an atomic bomb. It’s a day that changed the entire World forever. The atomic bomb decimated the city, killing nearly all nearby the blast and injuring tens of thousands more.
However, Hiroshima and its population have completely rebounded since then, and has the city changed since those dark days. People now travel here & to the surrounding areas from all over Japan and the wider world. This is why…

  1. I can hear by the accents that you are travelling with some Australians. Can pick a bogan anywhere. Seriously though, my daughter read the book about Sadako and the cranes when she was in year 3 at school and then set about to fold abour 100 cranes in honour. We still have them now even though she is now 16. From a fellow Australian.

  2. Admirals Nimitz, King, Halsey and Leahy opposed the dropping of the atomic bomb, along with generals Macarthur, Arnold and Eisenhower. We were reading the Japanese diplomatic code and knew the emperor wanted to end the war. The hang up was the survival of the emperor, which we agreed to anyway. The bombs were dropped as a warning to Joseph Stalin, that we were capable of anything. In fact, Churchill had proposed an atomic attack on the USSR, killing most of the population. This was Operation Unthinkable, aptly named. What saved the Soviets was their development of the bomb, with the aid of courageous Americans, Britains, and Canadians. To those people, we owe a debt of gratitude.
As for Truman, he was a war criminal. Any decent society would have locked him up. However, at least he didn't nuke China in 1950, at the start of the Korean War.

  3. As a Brit, I was in Hiroshima last week…the ferry trip to the island is highly recommended plus the bonus of being able to use your JR rail pass ( for the ferry crossing)

  4. The Japanese did not introduce it. During World War II, this was the command headquarters of the Japanese army. Japanese war criminals gathered here. This place planned the war of aggression against China, invaded Burma, invaded Indonesia, and planned the Nanjing Massacre, Burma Massacre, and Indonesian Massacre!

  5. 広島を訪れる外国の皆さんが広島平和記念公園を訪れて、その朝何が起きたのかを知ってくれることに感謝します。
    そして今ある平和な日々がいかに大切で、そして脆いものか理解してくださることも。
    ありがとうございます。

  6. Americans are a terrorist state. The only country on this planet who proudly talking about their proxy war's nukes and murder of innocent civilians…

  7. Добрый вечер, Мэтт и Юлия!
    Добро пожаловать в Хиросиму😊
I‘m quite baffled to see you guys walking around in my immediate neighborhood😱 I‘ve been a silent subscriber of your channel for quite a while now (mostly for the content in Russia and the former Soviet Countries). And now, on my way home (riding the street car „Miyajimaguchi line“) I see you guys visiting Hiroshima and Miyajima feels kinda surreal😅
I could have bumped into you, which would have been pretty amazing tbh!

Btw, I am a German living in Hiroshima (just right in front of Miyajima) for 8 years now.
And Matt you were absolutely right about the oysters being freshly caught.
On your way to Miyajima Island, did you recognize some wooden planks offshore? Underneath those wooden rafts are hundreds of oysters cultivated and waiting to be harvested. Fun fact: Hiroshima accounts for approx. 70% of Japan's oyster production.

It‘s a shame that you weren’t able to make a longer video, because besides cuisine Hiroshima has a lot more to offer. But the weather seemed to be shite and Julia was feeling under the weather, as well.
I‘m glad she got better during the time filming.
I hope you can visit Hiroshima again, on a nice fine weather day and enjoy the beautiful mountains and the Seto Inland Sea once more.

Enjoy the rest of your stay in Japan! I‘m looking forward to the next video.

    Пока пока 👋🏻

  8. The start of America's war on Terror. Japan was in the process of surrendering, America didn't need to murder all those innocent people, but that's the beginning of their never-ending wars. Sorry, but I can't watch this episode after watching that beginning, I grew up with this tragedy ingrained into us from birth. Japan did some atrocious crimes in China in the 1930s and during WW11, but the people didn't deserve that.

  9. Isn't it a shame that a country so sophisticated and cultured and who strive for perfection in many of the things they do, should emerge into a modern mechanised world with a medieval mind set and bring so much wrath and destruction upon themselves.
It's a testament to the character of the Japanese people that they have literally risen from the ashes and brough peace and prosperity back for the benefit of generations that followed.

  10. Oh dear. Cried and sniffled the whole way through……the images at the beginning of the video just reach in a rip your heart out, Got a bit happier to see you enjoying the food so much.

  11. Smiling: the oysters at Brighton Beach just might have come from France; but by the time they got served to you they weren't so fresh! The contrasts in Japan are amazing (saw it on my one trip to Japan about 25 years ago) with the beautiful gardens, old temples (so calm and well: zen) and the what I'd call tacky shops and boring looking fast food places. (Some of the food did look outright dangerously delicious). And lots of electrical wires in your city shots, too. Japan is not on my list to revisit, but, as always, you two capture the down-to-earth tourist experience and not the glitzy, slick, hyped travel clips shown on TV (especially) of countries around the world. Appreciate the good and the bad of a travel experience which you show. And you do it in spades. Merci, thanks.

  12. As long as we learn from our past, hopefully, we will never have to go through that history again. Japan is now a friend and ally. The cabbage, noodle, and egg dish looked good, especially with beer. 🇯🇵🇺🇸

  13. Big question is where is all radiation from these nuclear blast ? when people measure its "normal" radiation.Applause for the Japanese, they are strong nation, developing, living with honor, it's a pity that they eat everything that floats in the sea.

  14. thanks a lot to visit hiroshima and so happy to see you guys enjoying trip.
as a japanease,i really try to take any small action to avoid using that crazy bomb never ever .
please come back japan again and please explore many country side japan!

  15. Just found your channel. And such a great start to me watching my first video. I must admit, it was a bit emotional but thank you for taking me on this journey.

  16. That was interesting. I have always wondered how they rebuilt the city so fast – what happened to all the radiation? Thought it would be like Chernobyl where ground is still contaminated. I thought radiation lasted for like hundreds of years. Would like to know more about that.

  17. As a Japanese national, the title of this upload is very offensive. There is absolutely nothing "infamous" about Hiroshima. That is a grave insult to Hiroshima. That is because you foreigners dropped a bomb and destroyed the city and killed mercilessly thousands of people, again there is nothing "infamous" about the city. I demand that you apologize to the city and change the title.

  18. What's wrong "infamous" with Hiroshima? They did not do anything wrong. You have no right to call it "infamous". Your ignorance shows. Another click-bait by shallow Youtubers.

  19. Great vid guys yet all successful YouTubers have good audio, I could barely hear you & that music bass was over the top. Constructive opinion 👍

  20. It was Jardine Matheson & Co. of international financial capital Rothschild, not Britain, that started the opium war against China. At the end of the Edo period in Japan, Commodore Matthew Perry, who came to Japan to open the country, was related to the Rothschild family.Japan's Meiji Restoration was a farce between the British and French Rothschilds for financial control. They set up a civil war, lending weapons and funds to both sides and making the side that wins a huge debt burdened with financial control. For this purpose, Thomas Glover of Matheson & Co. was dispatched to Nagasaki, Japan.Japan's invasion of China and its annexation of Korea were also Rothschild's strategies for controlling Asia using Japan and countermeasures against Russia. They invested huge amounts of capital and know-how in order for Japan to advance overseas, and forced Japan to undergo rapid modernization while drowning in debt. This led to the Sino-Japanese War, the Anglo-Japanese Alliance, and the Russo-Japanese War.For the Russo-Japanese War, the Rothschilds handed over huge amounts of money directly to Japan. So Japan won the war, but priority was given to repayment. It is impossible for Japan, which does not have natural resources, to modernize rapidly or pay for huge invasion equipment on its own.World War I consisted mainly of the British and French Rothschild attacks on Germany and Italy.Japan had to obey even in Asia because it was financially paid.Japan would be deprived of Asia's vast resources and assets forever, so it went against it in order to be liberated.Japan aimed at the Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. So Japan made an alliance with Germany and Italy.American Jews put pressure on Japan to go to war.The United States, knowing in advance, neglected Pearl Harbor to participate in the war, and appealed that the United States was a victim.Neumann and the Jews developed the atomic bomb to drop it on Japan from the beginning. After the war, they claimed they had no intention of dropping it in Japan.Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has long been full of Koreans, delayed Japan's declaration of war and made it appeal overseas that Japan was vicious.Of course, they had leaked various information about Pearl Harbor and other things overseas beforehand. The international financial capital also used the later crushing Soviet Union to fight back against Japan, brainwashing China and Korea into thinking that Japan was a vicious aggressor and perpetrator.China and Korea have been faking history and anti-Japanese education for many years to steal money from Japan.China obstructs the liberation of Asia, conceals its vicious obstruction, and still pretends that it is a massacre and a cruel Japanese army.Japan, which was hesitant to annex it because it would increase its debt, abolished the corrupt royal palace, democratized, and created a proper environment.Korea, which wanted to be like Japan and wanted to be annexed, appealed that Korea was a victim after Japan lost.Korea still asks Japan for money for all kinds of fabrications.Japanese who aimed to liberate Asia were judged and executed.Emperor Showa Hirohito apologized to MacArthur to protect the people. In Japan, Koreans have been trying to fabricate history for many years. The atomic bomb was not to destroy the Nazis.
