NEW Swift Command App | Control Your Motorhome From Your Phone (In Development)

So when we got this Moto back in 2019 there was an app for your phone uh called Swift command and what that allows you to do is control all the functions in in your moto or your Caravan uh from your phone now it’s been a few years but

There is an update to that app and I’ve been lucky enough to be sent one of the pre-release versions uh so they they let me have a little play with it and a little test of it and uh to give them some feedback but I think it’s good enough now to actually

Show you it in operation now there’s a couple of features that are really good on this and I wish he’d been in the original version but uh let’s show you how we set it up so the first thing you’ll need to do is to have a copy of the Swift

Command app now it will be available on the stores uh when they when they release it so you can download it from uh your um Google Play store or your Apple iTunes store or wherever you get apple stuff from uh but once you’ve downloaded it there’s a couple of things then you need

To do to set it up and the first one is make sure that you delete any existing pairings that you’ve used perhaps on a previous app so let’s do that first so into into settings I click the gear icon into connections Bluetooth and I want to unpair that so

Unpair so that disconnect it on the phone and then I want to disconnect it on the panel so on your panel go into settings and I will hit delete takes a few minutes for it to delete it so make sure you’ve got nothing paired on there

I should say paired zero and that you’ve got nothing paired on your mobile phone either so that done we can now press pair on here puts it into pairing mode and if I hit scan on my phone I should find then I’ve got Swift blle at the

Bottom that’s the one you want tap on that and it says a app is required obviously if you haven’t downloaded the app already you won’t be able to use it so Swift BL is at the top we can now use the app now couple of things to point out

Here depending on what uh model van you’ve got you’ll have two there are two different versions there is a 2019 version and a 2024 2024 they updated the comm’s unit the communications unit in the time so there is a separate version for 2024 Vans and there is a version for Vans

Of9 and onwards I’ve still got a 2019 version on mine so I’m going to use the Swift command app for 2019 and the other thing to mention is there is an issue with the communications software in the 2019 vans that the first time that you connect it may disconnect the Bluetooth after 1

Minute and we don’t really know why uh I just thought I pointed out when I find out that this disconnects after a minute that’s why it’s nothing to do with the app it’s to do with the software or firmware in the uh in the unit and where

I’m sitting so let’s go into the app so this is the app here now first thing I want to point out on the app is there is a blue too button at the bottom uh the bottom right left and right sorted out and if you tap that you’ve then got connect disconnect and

If you were to move to a different motor home you could delete the vehicle pairing as well so I’m going to tap connect and I know it’s connected because on the top right there is a blue Bluetooth icon and that tells me I’m connected I

Can use the arrow to go back so the left Arrow to takes me back to the home screen and before I say anything else they’ve also added on this app a help file as it were so there is a uh question mark which takes you through

The help file and it gives you a little write up about what the various things do on the display and it says functions may vary depending on what vehicle You’ got you may have a caravan you have Alco uh functions on there and the radio function obviously we won’t have uh

Hitch stabilizers on a motor home and we won’t have the radio uh the the radio in the Caravan is the radio that’s fitted inside the Caravan not on the in in a Mot home in the cab it doesn’t control that one and you’ve also you could also have

Controls for air conditioning as well so different sort of things on there and the top tab follows that format so you got a back arrow youve got a help and you’ve got a Bluetooth connect or disconnect if you find it’s become disconnected then you can click on that

Uh little Bluetooth icon at the top to reconnect so let’s have a look what’s in there and we’ll work from left to right top to bottom so the first one is lighting so it can control most of the lights in the mot home um the only one I can’t really

Control are the foot lights there’s two foot lights in this motor and one at the front and one in the bedroom so I can control the entry light let come on I can control the awning light so that’s really how many times have you um have you gone to bed

And you’ve had a knock on the door and someone said switch that blow in awning light off well you can do that from bed now you’ve got the dimmer at the front here at the back rather the dimmer one is the bedroom dimmer that one you don’t

See that and you switch it off from there and dimer two are the lights in here I can turn the brightness up there nice and bright in here now I can turn it off because it’s daylight okay there we go so most of the lights there you can control

Remotely power that’s an interesting one there and uh it takes a second or so before it comes back to tell you what’s going on here and I can see in the moment top one is my leisure battery and that’s the main battery because it’s it’s highlighted in in yellow on the

Right hand side there and it’s charging it’s 3.7 volts and it’s providing uh Power into the load so that will be the charging circuits in the motor home the fridge uh the panel itself any lights that I’ve got on and I’ve also got the the uh the the one at the bottom the

Icon for the power and that’s 2 Amp at the moment and that’s going into charging uh the Leisure battery I’m getting no solar on there but the solar will show it’s not very bright today but this solar will show if there’s a significant amount of solar power coming into the

Van uh it basically because we’re fully charged we’ve been on hookout for a while here underneath that we’ve got the vehicle battery it tells it condition is good 13.3 volts it’s in its resting just been charged State and underneath that we’ve got the mains and what it tells me there is

Capacity is 6% I’m using 6% of the mains capacity that I’ve I’ve got and I’m on a 16 amp uh hookup here but I can if I’m on a 10 amp hookup or or or if you’re on the continent 5 amp hookup you can reduce that down

And that will reduce the amount of current that you can take before the trips come in uh or before you trip the Ballard on the campsite I’m going to leave it on 16 amps there and that’s very useful to be able to do that if you

Get to the Ballard obviously you can go on your phone and you can adjust uh the current limit and if you find it’s 5 amp or or less so very useful that so back to home the next one is water it tells me the various level s of the of the water uh

I’m I’m drained down at the moment but uh if there was some fresh water in there the left hand one would tell me how how much as a percentage and the right hand one is the waste waterer I can switch the water pump on w’t do that for long I

Can say do I want a water level alert well I know I’ve got no water in this I don’t really need a water level alert at the moment so switch that off now the next one underneath that is the really useful function I I said when

I I think I first reviewed this command app it would be nice if you could drain if you could open the auto the it’ be nice if you could open the powered uh waste and fresh tank drains from your phone well now you can I don’t know if you can hear that but

That’s the fresh tank drain opening okay and that’s the disconnection I get after about a minute so just okay that I can then go to the Bluetooth and reconnect so let’s close the fresh tank drain there it goes under that I’ve got the water tank heating now if it’s cold outside uh

We’ve not got fully insulated tanks in these Vans but we can switch the water tank heating on which hopefully will stop the tank freezing so we can do that I’ve not got any water in there but you do need at least 25% in either of the

Tanks for the water tank heaters to work so bear that in mind and the final one and probably the most useful one is the waste tank drain that means you can drive up to a motor home service Point uh you can step outside make sure you’re properly positioned and when you’re

Ready you’re going to open the waste tank drain been waiting for that for absolutely ages go just close it brilliant it’s made my day that has next one is environment it basically just gives you a sort of read out what the temperature is inside is 16° in here

76 uh hum humidity which is not surprising the amount of rain we’ve had uh the external temperature is 6° I thought it’s actually a bit warmer than that but that’s what it says it is um heating next it’s quite a complex screen this one but I think it’s fairly

Straightforward to see what’s going on at the top is the heating uh the central heating if you like the radiator heating uh the air heating they call it and the actual temperature in here is 16° uh I’ve got it set are to a Target temperature of 10° and that’s only

Really because uh we don’t need to be heating it in here when we’re not in the motor home it’s sitting on our drive on hookup uh so I don’t need to be heating it very much to the right of that you see the little clock symbol there and

That’s the timers so I’m going to go into that and this is what I’ve found as it takes a while to read this what I found with this is I had to go into it and then come out of it and then afterwards it’s it’s redit so if

You see it come up with all zeros and nothing in there come out of it and go back into it and it’s got all the settings so it’s four timers on a swift mot home with a command panel or Caravan with a command panel and you can set the

Time that you want the heating to come on so at the moment from the top I’ve got it coming on at 6:30 heating the air to 21° and using a normal um setting for the uh the Water Heater you can choose boost on that as

Well so if you want a quick heat of the water perhaps uh water’s not quite warm yet and You’ got up early you can put boost on there I haven’t got any water in here so really probably ought not to be doing that we’ll put it back on

Normal for now then at 10:00 I’ve got it coming on heating to 21 16:30 heating to 21 and at 10:00 I’m going to cool it down a little bit we do like things warm in here as you can see but you can also see you can also turn the water heater

Off if you don’t need it Heating the water after that so that is really useful uh water heater water heating is actually off at the moment because I’ve got this on a manual mode I can put it on normal or could put it on Boost as

You saw from the timers but the mode settings control whether your your heating is off whether it’s on manual takes a couple of seconds for these to come up or if you want to put it on timer again when I press that it takes about 2 seconds to come up there we

Go I put that on manual just heat just woken up that’s why it came up the controller was busy there we go so I’m on manual underneath that I’ve got the energy source so the two do dashes tell me I’m on 2 Kow of electricity could put it on

Three I can put it off wait for it I could put it on 1 kilowatt I can put it on two and the the button next to it is for switching the gas on so at the moment the energy source is 2 Kow electricity and uh heating with

Gas as well so that’s a good way of heating up your van uh if it’s a little bit cold um can’t remember how many kilowatts you get there I think you get 4 Kow of gas heating and 3 Kow of electric heating so it should heat up pretty quickly with

That I’ll turn that off there I don’t want to be wasting gas you know just heard the gas part switch off so back now so that’s heating the final thing is the fridge I can control the settings on the fridge and I I confess that I find the

This um where it says temperature warm I find that a bit confusing um I’m not quite sure what it’s trying to tell me here I think dtic sort of got a bit confused about how this works if you turn the coldness up it says it’s getting warm so I think

It means it’s warm compared to the setting that you want it on if you that makes any sense I’m going to I normally leave it on about four so I’m going to leave it on four underneath I’ve got the mode I’m in Auto which means it will automatically switch between 240 volts

Gas and 12 volts the 12 volts only works if we’re driving uh so if I put it on two 230 Vols there we go or I can put it on gas so if you find your fridge feels a little bit cool obviously you can do

That on this app I’m going to leave it on auto there I’ll go back now so that’s the main functions of the uh the Swift command app underneath um we’ve got the remote facility now what that does is it takes you to the Swift command page and you can log in

There and you put your password in and uh that will allow you to control your m motor home functions from a distance and there’s a few more facilities in there and uh it’s probably um a subject for another video but uh we’ll come out of that now because I really wanted to

Concentrate on the app itself the only other information there is like I said you got the Bluetooth connection there and come out of there and we’ve got the about so you can see this is version 1.0 not zero and it’s under development so let’s hope that they uh

Speed up the development and get this released um I’ve not had any major issues with it other than the app uh disconnecting occasionally and it’s just a case of being patient waiting for something to happen couple of seconds and it responds um I’m not a great fan of

Bluetooth I’ve got to admit um but it seems to work pretty well and I’m really pleased that they’ve included the facility to open your waste your motorized waste and fresh water valves with a phone so what did you think uh is that a big Improvement on the previous

App I think it is and uh if it is leave a comment below um anything else that you think of or any questions if you got any questions I may not be able to answer it myself but I can forward it on to uh the Sergeant te are developing

This app so I’m really pleased that this app is has come out now and it seems a much better version than previously so if you found this useful why not subscribe um that would really help us out and it will know that this been has been a useful I’ll know that this has

Been a useful video and give us a thumbs up and uh I’ll see you soon bye then it says I’ve got two paired there uh and that’s because I paired it twice so I’m going to delete both of those good start it I didn’t say you need to download

It it is it says got it yep start again

I’ve had the opportunity to look at the pre-release Swift Command App. This allows you to control your motorhome dunctions from your mobile phone. Please note this is still in development.

  1. Interesting video – Nice they are updating it as too many apps seem to get abandoned now and not see many updates.
Good to see the extent of control from then app. Some things are much easier to do on the phone than at the panel aren’t they like setting timers.
Imagine the heating remote would be handy (bit like pre-entry climate control in a car)
    Thanks for sharing.
    All the best, David 👍

  2. Good video . Am still waiting for Swift and Sargent to fix the app on my 2023 784 . Doesn’t pair on iOS with the van . Dealer , Salop Leisure , has no news on when Swift will fix or if they ever will .

  3. Usual garbage from Swift Bob, I have a 2023 Kon-tiki the new 2024 app should work with my unit but it doesn’t neither does the 2019 app!! Swift state that the 2024 app is being released in stages to incorporate 2019 models going forward, should have been released in February but still waiting! 😡 we’re in 2024 we’ve put men on the moon for decades but Swift still struggling to build a usable app!!!
