Exploring Germany’s famous Romantic Road.
hi I’m Rena and this is my channel a
full of
Worlds me my husband and a couple of
friends have spent the last few weeks
exploring the locks Hills and Glaciers
of Scotland and Iceland and we’re slowly
making our way south towards the much
needed European Sun we hope you continue
to join us on our
adventures the sun is shining
the shin
Down’s
i”s i’
ra morning um so this morning we started
off on a slightly somber note um we went
in to see the daau concentration
campsite and for obvious reasons I
didn’t really want to bring the camera
in there but I just thought I’d start by
saying that if you have the chance to do
something like this whether it be decal
or asts or one of the other sites
absolutely take it um I think it’s
really important we learn about our
history and about the atrocities that
were
caused um to other humans by humans um
and if we don’t learn about them we
don’t learn about what set up this
eventuality then I don’t think we can
prevent it from happening in the future
so if you do have the chance really
implore you to to take it and
come and check it out and check it out
seriously
um from now we’re going to hopefully
lift our Spirits a little bit um we’re
heading off to the romantic road um
which is 460 km stretch of sort of old
style romantic German architecture we
haven’t got time to do all of it so
we’re going to go a little bit north and
do a little bit of the northern stretch
today and then tomorrow we’re going to
do the most southern Point um yeah
that’s what’s planing for the
say bad
baby 1
[Music]
70 our first stop along the romantic
road is the town of Augsburg which is
the oldest town in Bavaria and it was
named after the Emperor Augustus because
it’s actually a Roman town initially um
so we’re really just here for a lunch
stop but the square is beautiful and I’m
excited to see what the Romantic bir
holds if this is stop number
[Music]
one
the sun is
shining there’s nowhere i’ rather
[Music]
be
[Music]
yes how fast you 184 it won’t let me
go5 and that’s a
c
[Music]
well we made it to Rothenberg which was
our next city on the list however it’s
taken us much longer to drive here than
we thought we would so this is our last
Town unfortunately and we haven’t even
got that long here before we’ve got to
get back and get a car back but it’s a
really cool medieval city so right now
we’ve climbed up on top of the walls and
we’re just going to have a little bit of
a wander and check out the city from the
old uh old
wall
[Music]
[Music]
and
so while the town we’re at earlier is
the oldest town in Bavaria Rothenberg is
probably the best example of medieval
architecture that’s been well preserved
it is such a cute town all the houses
are colorful you’ve got that kind of Tor
style building it’s a really gorgeous
City to walk through um I wish we had a
bit longer here but we’ll wander around
and and just have another
[Applause]
look
[Music]
[Applause]
seriously though how beautiful is this
town I really wish we had more time here
I think if we came back to Germany we’d
probably grab a car and do that romantic
road slowly so we could stop at all the
towns like this and just take it all in
a bit more it is honestly it is a
stunner
which Snee ball to choose there are so
many good ones I’ve never had one before
but no idea what a is but I want one I
want
one I don’t know what flavor are you
going to get don’t know the yeah but
they’re different so they’re like a
little like what call sugary ones or is
they which I’ll get the sugary ones
Moment of Truth Snee
balling
yum show there you
are oh my God so what are they I think
they’re like pretzel but like wrapped in
a
bowl yeah like cookie or pretzel off
cups and then like fried and like
bashed
kind of tastes like ice cream
can with chocolate on
it it’s
dense so
sweet
good like
me they laid down the
foundations um
all right so we’re continuing our track
down the romantic road obviously we’ve
jumped a whole section but now we are
down the very tail end near the nin
Castle which for a lot of people you
would know as the castle that Disney
modeled their castle of so um it’s built
in a really romantic sort of period
style and I’m very much looking forward
to going to see it I can see it jotting
above the hills already and I’m very
excited to head up there
hey are you all right they asked sitting
with the glass who whis eyes glazed over
looking at the
skyline said friend you know I love this
city but sometimes you have to excuse me
I let myself get lost up in my
[Applause]
mind
so the first place we’ve come up to is
the Maran Bridge which there’s a bit of
a wait for but it’s supposed to be worth
it CU it’s supposed to have those
spectacular views over the
[Music]
[Music]
castle
[Music]
kid is probably one of the most stunning
places I’ve ever been in my
life
am home is not far from me I can go to
my country side take some time remember
night sitting by the fire leaning back
watching the Red Sky Sunset let those
bare feet Sway and swing feel that b bre
in that be so firstly the views from
that bridge are spectacular it’s
definitely worth coming just for that
kind of fairy tale moment um we’re going
to go do a tour of the inside of the
castle which I’ve heard is quite
different from the lavish outside not
sure if we’re allowed to film in there
or not so uh we might see you on the
other
[Music]
side it’s actually a real shame that we
got film inside the castle because it’s
probably one of my favorite castle
interiors that I’ve ever seen like it’s
so well done and because um King died
before he could complete it it was
turned into a museum only 6 weeks later
so everything inside is original
perfectly preserved um he’s even created
like a Garo like a fake cave and then
this throne room that’s basically
complete gold Mosaic like it’s stunning
so definitely worth the trip inside it’s
a shame I couldn’t show you anywh but
thankfully the views are spectacular
[Music]
as find a
Countryside take some time remember
nights in by the
fireing backing the
red all right that’s it from your steene
um so far we’ve had three days in Munich
and done three day trips out um but
we’ve got one more full day so hopefully
we’ll actually be able to take a bit of
a look around Munich itself tomorrow um
and then we are headed down to new
country so we’ll see you back in Munich
tomorrow
In our second installment of Bavaria, we try and visit some of the more famous locations along Germany’s “Romantic Road”- including Rothenburg and the famous Neuschwanstein Castle.
This castle has been a bucket list item for me ever since I heard of it, and it did not dissapoint!
