■ PYRENEES, FRANCE: A few years ago I vowed never to visit France. However seeing as it’s a rather huge country and the only one with land access to Spain, I was forced to reconsider. What I saw on this motorbike tour across the country was truly amazing. The mountain roads that pierces through the Pyrenees were particularly spectacular.
The people in this region of South-Western France, although French by citizenship, are Basque by language and ethnicity. France and Spain have feuded over this are throughout history which has rendered the region flush with medieval mountain top castles that still stand today.
