Colourful LE PUY-EN-VELAY, And A 🪗Musical Host 🎶
Days 232-233. 46km (82412kms 7yrs)
Being under the trees had kept the tent clear of the overnight dew so I packed away a dry tent in eager readiness for another couple of Warm Showers stays. Friendly hikers greeted me on my way into the first village where there were several charming drinking water sources to choose between.
After which it was mostly downhill to Le Puy-en-Velay, though by taking the winding back roads a small amount of climbing kept me warm under the grey sky.
Le Puy is a gorgeous little town of tall pastel buildings with cheerfully bright shutters, and lanes cobbled in the local black red volcanic stones. It being in a crater it is a place better explored on foot than pushing a heavy bike up and down cobbled hills. So I was very lucky to be hosted by Sylvain for two nights giving me a nice rest and proper explore of the town.
Sylvain is an accomplished musician too, treating me to accordion and Balkan flute recitations in the evening. Having lost much of his eyesight he is no longer able to bike tour himself but still invites cyclists into his home, an act of generosity which blows my mind when you consider the additional challenges of other people with their belongings in a place you otherwise know your way around.

what did you wish for?
Growing up 50's & 60's in a Scottish/Irish town in Canada, 2 things young people avoided: Bag Pipes and a ukulele playing. ..lol
You sent a prayer that your mother would become photogenic and want to be in videos. Introduce herself to your audience. !!
