THIS IS MALAYSIA?! Kuala Lumpur Really Shocked Us

Today we arrived to Malaysia and we explored Kuala Lumpur for the first time, and let’s say, we couldn’t believe this was Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s capital city, where English is a popular language and there is a big influence of different cultures.

In today’s Kuala Lumpur travel vlog, we will be sharing our opinion of this hugely underrated city and taking you along on our first day out exploring KL.

Who are Carma Adventures?!

We’re Carol and Max, the duo behind Carma Adventures! Max is originally from Spain, and I’m from Brazil.

We started this channel back in 2021 as a way to capture our adventures—a kind of digital memory book we could look back on and share with our future kids.

After a year of working and living in London, in July 2024, we left our “normal” life behind, packed everything into a storage unit, and set off on a crazy journey through Southeast Asia. A lot of people thought we were mad to quit our jobs just as our careers were starting, but we couldn’t imagine spending the rest of our lives being dictated by someone else’s schedule and dreams.

Our goal? To travel as much as possible, uncover hidden gems, and inspire others to live life to the fullest. What began as a simple backpacking trip through Southeast Asia quickly became a lifestyle, and now, we’ve set ourselves a new mission—to see the world before we hit the big 30!

Along the way, we hiked an active volcano at 2am, bungee jumped from the second tallest bungee in the world, and discovered hidden gems that most tourists miss. Carma Adventures is all about showing that travel doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated—it’s about the experiences, both big and small.

Big thanks to everyone who’s been following along on this journey! You’re the best! 🩵✈️🌏

  1. Just like every other KL youtube video… Why so shocked? Everyone is 'shocked'. Didn't realise that Malaysians speak good English? No research? What makes this video unique or special? Just showing exactly the same places.

  2. The theme park is usually busy during the weekends. But not so much on weekdays during the morning and afternoon because everyone is either at work or school.

Welcome to Malaysia! Hope you both enjoy your time here!

PS: If you're still in Malaysia, check out either Village Park Restaurant(my personal fav) or Nasi Lemak Wanjo for some good Nasi Lemak in KL. Nasi Lemak is our national dish! Coconut rice, served with anchovies, peanuts, cucumbers and sambal sauce(chilli paste) and a side of any protein you'd like (Beef Rendang, Ayam Goreng, Ayam Merah, etc)

  3. just curious.. when you said Kuala Lumpur really shocked us.. what were you thinking prior to coming.. did you think Malaysian is full of potbelly children walking around with begging bowl sucking up to people like you whilst feeling superior in the process.. and millions people living in sewer pipe.. with severed head next to garbage dump.. if the answer is yes.. Jesus Christ.. you are freaking ignorant.. do some reading before you come.. and you need to be less patronising and condescending.. it freaking offensive..

  4. Hello sweet couple, welcome to the under-rated Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia 🇲🇾🌺
Kuala Lumpur is a laid back and chill city and a city with contrast, metropolitan and diverse, KL is a city that never sleeps.
Btw, most eateries workers are migrants especially from Indonesia thus they speak Indonesian language which a bit similar to Bahasa Melayu and they are less understand and speak English compared to the Malaysians.. English is a second language in Malaysia as Malaysia is a Commonwealth country and it is a compulsory subject at schools and universities..
Other than futuristic PETRONAS Twin Towers which are the tallest twin towers in the world since 1998, the MERDEKA 118 the 2nd tallest building in the world that still not open yet for public and KL Tower you should visit the new iconic gigantic structure TRX EXCHANGE..
Do visit Malaysian super theme parks which are in Genting Highlands Resort, IOI Malls other Berjaya Time Square itself.. I suggest you explore Genting Highlands world resort as it is one of the cold places in Malaysia, it is a quite interesting views and you gonna love it..!👍

  5. Im malaysia i learn english at 7 year old.. I live in small town call teluk anson vs teluk intan there a famous pagoda tower…im study at st anthony school with big cross in the roof.. Anyway im muslim.. For us in malaysia we dont judge any religion any culture any skin collar as malaysia we always said your grave is your my grave is my meaning we all human being this is how we live in malaysia😊😊😊😊

  6. Welcome to Malaysia…wonder why every foreign tourist coming to Malaysia and very shocked to see Malaysia. Wonder why they are not in shock when see Burj Khalifah or any buildings in western countries? People can speak good English because we once colonized by British long long long time ago. Kuala Lumpur is different from New York and London because Malaysians always 'rilek-rilek je' ..

  7. Welcome to Malaysia truly Asia good foods beach jungle other's Malaysia is centre off Asean region eazy to go anywhere Thailand Philippines Vietnam China Indonesia Australia others safe for family's holiday's single girl woman's for holidays here enjoyable can try cendol durian fruit Musang King Malaysia it's delicious too

  8. The roller coaster is real and its not moving because there is no one taking a ride. You can always take a ride and have fun . Another mall TRX The Exchange with a park at the top of this mall and i think you will be shocked as well. I say you should visit Genting Highland and Cameron Highland as well

  9. For your information, the Indonesian language's root is the Malay Language's words. 80-90 % of both languages are similar. Malay is the official and national language of Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore, and is spoken by the southern Thailand regions near the Malaysian border. The Indonesian language is just a variation of the Malay language. That is why you feel the sound of speakers in Indonesia is the same as that of Malaysian speakers. Thank you for visiting Malaysia. Enjoy your vacation. MALAYSIA IS TRULY ASIA.
