TRIP REPORT | First Time on Korean Air B747 | Seoul to New York | KOREAN AIR Boeing 747-8i

Korean Air Trip Report flying from Seoul to New York on board one of the Korean Air Boeing 747-8i on a beautiful spring day.

A comfortable flight onboard the Korean Air Boeing 747 from Seoul to New York JFK. Although the flight was fully booked, the cabin on the 747 gave enough space to make this almost 14-hour flight doable.

We took off from Seoul-Incheon with the last lights of the day and quickly made a 180ยฐ turn to start our route to New York. We overflew the city of Seoul, which offered us some amazing night views of South Korea’s capital. From there we flew towards Japan, before starting for the first time our cross of the Pacific Ocean.

The sunrise was over the Pacific Ocean. A lovely 30 minutes in which everyone onboard was sleeping and I could enjoy in complete silence one of the best moments of every flight. We continued towards Alaska and before reaching it we could see the Sea Ice. The mountains to the north of Fairbanks all covered by snow were amazing.

We then entered Canada and crossed all the country from northwest to southeast. The views of Northern-Canada all under the ice were amazing, as well as all the area of the Hudson Bay. We finally entered the US around 40 minutes prior to land, directly to the New York state. After a beautiful night approach we landed at JFK International Airport around 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled time of arrival.

Regarding the onboard service, there were 3 services on this flight: dinner, snack, and breakfast. For the dinner, 3 options were offered: Korean rice, chicken, or beef. The mid-flight snack was a sandwich. Around 2 hours before arriving in New York, the lunch was served. In this case, there were 2 options: scrambled eggs or porridge. I chose the first and I must say they were really good. In fact, Korean Air catering is really good when they carry enough amount of western style food ๐Ÿ™‚

    Now it’s your turn!
Have you ever flown with Korean Air? Which route? How was the experience? Have you ever flown on the Boeing 747? Have you ever been in Seoul? Maybe in New York? What do you think about the Korean Air onboard service?

    1. Whatever is wrong with Boeing these days, we all owe a debt of gratitude to them for having bought us the magnificent 747 which was the main aircraft that brought affordable long distance travel to us all. Excellent film using a 747 again, thank you so much for bringing it to us.

    3. That's interesting details about takeoff and keeping interior lights dimmed. It is odd that on this flight it was brightly lit. I've flown on KE via A380 and they always dimmed or softened the lights during take off.

    4. if the plane kept flying straight instead of making the 180 degree turn it would end up in North Korean airspace which is a big no no

    6. Si!!! hemosas vistas con esas formas tan unicas del hielo t antes de entrar en Alaska las nubes tenian formas circulares formando como una espiral en el centro…me llamo' mucho la atencion. Heromo vuelo. Muchas gracias desde Canada'.

    7. 14 hours in economy?!! I don't know if I could do it, but I enjoyed your trip report! I love the 747; I'll be so sad when the last commercial flight happens.
