60 or 70k isn't enough, not if you want to retire ever or have a social life, that's the issue. Everything has every penny squeezed out of it, as well as it's soul. I'm just under 40 and even clubs have changed so much in 20 years, they aren't even fun anymore. They've always been expensive, but it's unreal how and all the fun has been sucked out of it.
Also pretty sharp guy, the purchasing power parity of Phillipines to US is about 4x so he's spot on what his lifestyle costs back home

interesting video. what is Skype's unlimited calls and texts to the US with a US number for $33 a year? I googled and Microsoft won't offer new phone numbers and is switching to subscriptions

Glad to see Brit's found his happy place. I was married to a philipina for 18 years and have friends here and there. As for me I like living in smaller towns and I live like the Philipino's do, my cost of living as a single old fart would shock everyone.
I early retired in Cebu city and am pleased with my relationship and life here, but Brett is off the charts exaggerating the positives here, which can seriously mislead others. He is not street smart at all and sees everything thru a dream and fantasy lens.

The Philippines is the extension of the US, could have been the 51st state but not did not happen though. The best thing is the Philippine culture and traditions, the fanily community culture and the humanity inside are so alive and so rich. The Kenny Rogers Roasters had already been in the Philippines since 1995. That is how connected the Philippines to the US is. Inside the huge malls are the cinemas where senior citizens have a discount, sometimes in other areas they are free to watch.
That seems like a lot of money even for IT Park Cebu.

I lived in the Philippines for over 9 years, Thailand is a MUCH better choice. Better food, not as 3rd world, less crime, better beaches, safer cities.

I was in IT, I retired at 36 making close to $200k a year, I saved most of it as I was never married, housing and food provided. Problem with a 200k job is all the stress that comes with it. Now my budget is 1k per month in the philippines, I'm compounding nicely so far, been here a decade. Philippines is a overcrowded, polluted shithole with anyone that sees me begging for money. I mainly stick to the gym, cooking whole food from the wet market, hanging out at home with my gf kids and dogs. Life could be worse but I would look for a less polluted more developed country if i did it again with actual rights for foreigners. It's open season on foreigners, it's all about what they can get out of you.

Our plan is to retire early by 61 and move over to the Philippines because we can no longer afford the US but Iโm starting to feel like we might be the oddballs there because Iโm retiring with my wife and all the videos it seems like thereโs just mostly single American men. are there American couples there.
