Does any here have experience with the Igloo overland coolers? There’s a 72 QT one for $66 at Walmart and I’m wondering if it’s worth pulling the trigger on

    1. I’ve heard great things about them. I have yetis and rtics but probably wouldn’t spend that type of money now.

No experience with the igloo but I will say I bought an rtic a while back bc during 1 summer I went on several trips with my old school igloo while other people had rtic or yeti and I bought ice daily while theirs lasted 5 days. Over the course of that 1 year they saved enough money on ice to pay for the expensive cooler. Kinda made me mad tbh but easily justified the investment if you’re living out of a cooler enough.

I have a slightly smaller version of that Igloo and I love it. Works really well, way better than the coolers I grew up with!

I love mine I have 2, it’s rugged, but the rubber locks don’t allow you to open and shut the top. So what I’m saying if your putting beer inside and lots of people r open and close the rubber strap will keep it from shutting so u have to flick the straps with 2 hands to let it close and seal. I wish they would just stay upwards and then lock them when u need too.

I have one works pretty good, better then just an average cool but not better then a yeti. There is just no rubber gasket around the lid like my yeti cooler so I improvised and added my own definitely helped!

    6. I have a smaller version of this cooler that I bought at Walmart about 2 years ago. I think I probably paid around $60 for it, so the price is great on yours!

I’ve taken that on camping trips in the summer in the desert, and ice retention has been really good. Depending on how much stuff is in the cooler and how much ice I start with, it’s usually at least a couple days before the ice is completely melted and warm.

I have one. Will keep food/beer cold for close to 7 days if you pre chill it and load it full of ice. Tons of space so they get super heavy. As someone previously noted the rubber handle/latches will prevent it from closing.

The screws for the hinges failed on my second season with it, maybe 10-12 uses on it. They are small stainless steel screws that go into the plastic of the cooler, which is very thin. I replaced them with some larger screws and some glue but will probably have to replace them again.

It’s a great cooler for the price, even with the issue of the hinges.

    8. I have a similar igloo. It’s excellent. I would never buy anything at walmart ever though.

    9. The Marine line (and another) is a great one by Igloo. I have several and they do indeed hold ice for nearly a week with the larger ones when done properly. I can 6 of those for a Yeti…

When Yeti’s et all came out they were the bees knees, the knock offs are the same thing, roto-moulded plastic with t locks. There may be a difference in hinge or seal but they’re just as efficient.

All my experience with igloo coolers is not very good. Coleman used to be good, but I don’t think they are anymore, but I haven’t bought one for about 15 years due to a metal one melting and warping on my back porch so it can be used as a storage box, but not as a cooler
