Exploring the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, France – A Pilgrimage Journey

    [Music] hello sers my wife and I are doing a short visit of France our final destination is the sanctuary of Our Lady of Lords in the city that bears its name about 830 km from Paris in our previous video we showed our arrival in Paris Turing the city for a couple of days which is not nearly enough on this video we are heading to our intended destination the sanctuary of the Lady of Lords we are taking the tgv trains which will take about 5 hours that is half the time if we were to take the bus covering approximately 830 km with a speed reaching up to 320 kmph we posted a video of the trip as well I’ll add a link in the description the train ride was a unique experience on its own and we strongly recommend it we arrived in Lords as in the schedule there were taxis waiting at the station the driver seems to know where we are headed to even with a slight language barrier we only had to tell him the name of our hotel driving to our hotel we were immediately greeted with Lord’s charms the narrow cobblestone streets are lined with cafes souvenir shops and historic buildings but more on that later [Music] [Applause] we arrived at the hotel in no time at all we checked in and wasted no time we made our way to the church the sanctuary of our lady of Lord is one of the most famous Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world it is believed to be the place where the Virgin Mary appeared to St Bernadet Suburu in 1858 millions of pilgrims visit annually seeking spiritual renewal and healing particularly at the sanctuary’s miraculous spring we were here in the fall the crowd was small during our visit which is able to us the site includes The Grotto of Mel basilicas and baths where the faithful immerse themselves in the sacred Waters so come on and let us give you a that runs along the grotto of Lords it flows through the sanctuary of Our Lady of Lords providing a natural setting for the pilgrimage [Music] site we arrived in Lords late in the afternoon but as I’ve mentioned earlier here we didn’t waste any time we even got lucky enough to have attended a mass at the lower Church the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary it is getting a bit chilly now so we headed back to our hotel and we’ll resume our self tour right after breakfast [Music] [Music] let [Music] you s feet [Music] pleas [Music] we head on early to the cathedral hoping to catch a mass in any of the Tabernacles the hotel staff did not have any information about the church’s schedule incidentally there was a mass at The Grotto it was in French but no matter it follows the same order as in any language we’re just happy to celebrated here at The Grotto of Lords The Grotto of Mel fore PA for [Music] [Music] [Music] fore [Music] it’s the sanctuary of our lady of Lord features a low Stations of the Cross also known as the new way of the Cross inaugurated in 2008 it was made so that it would be accessible to pilgrims with reduced Mobility it is located in a shaded area along the g River and features 17 imposing stations in Carrera marble there is however a Station of the Cross only minutes away from the sanctuary that is of great significance to the sanctuary of our Lady it’s called the shaman daqua it is one of the most significant and Powerful ways of the cross in the world it is located on the espel UGES Hill above the sanctuary of Our Lady of Lords it features a path that is about 1.5 km almost 1 mile and takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete depending on your pace the depth of the route is steep and hilly making it a more physically demanding pilgrimage lur is a deeply moving and peaceful experience nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountain Range lured is a place of pilgrimage and reflection as you walk you may start at The Grotto of Mel the sacred site where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to St Bern dead in 1858 many pause here in quiet prayer or touch the smooth rock walls worn by the hands of countless pilgrims nearby the flow and lured spring offers water that many believe has miraculous healing properties whether seeking healing spiritual renewal or simply appreciating the beauty of Faith expressed in stone Water and Light walking the grounds of Lord is a profoundly moving experience this holy place is not visited by Catholics alone the sanctuary of Lord attracts a diverse group of visitors including pilgrims seeking healing religious deves volunteers and caregivers families and Faith groups clergy and religious orders and last but not least tourists and history enthusiasts a visit to Lords is a fulfilling train operates on a Hop On Hop Off basis allowing visitors to conveniently visit various sites around the city the train takes you through significant landmarks including religious sites and cultural points of interest you can hop off at any designated stop to explore and rejoin the train later making it a flexible option for sightseeing it’s especially beneficial for those who prefer minimal walking or have Mobility considerations [Music] one of the petty train stops is Le PTI Lords it is a miniature reproduction of the town of Lord as it appeared during the time of St Bernadet in the mid 19th century it’s a fascinating open air mum that gives visitors a glimpse of what Lords look like before it became one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world it was created by georgees seanan a skilled model maker and Artisan he designed and built this miniature Village to Faithfully recreate Lords as it looked in the 19th century that is all the video we have for now there are a
