Taking Our Kids to Jordan… Was It a Huge Mistake? 🇯🇴

The people here have been so friendly. I mean, the kids were going crazy in some of the shops. I’m currently standing at the ruins of the Hercules Temple. So, we didn’t have much luck with the food and we had to get back in the taxi. Oliver and Violet are literally trying to go in every single shot. We just headed up to some what looks like some ancient ruins. It comes from Did he say it was being made from the Dead in the Dead Sea area? Oh, wow. This is stunning. Just arrived at our next destination. We’re here in Aman, Jordan. We cannot wait. We’ve got a lovely day trip booked. So, we get to see some of the different sites here in Aman. Try some lovely food. So, stay with us and see what we think. We’ve just started our day trip here in Jordan and our first stop is one of the mosques. So, as soon as we got out the taxi, you enter the gift shop and they give you the coverings. So, Ed’s got one as well, so you’re not allowed in without being covered up. But they they give you the stuff for that just outside. This mosque is beautiful. The color of the blue and the mosque is really, really pretty. So, I can’t wait to see if it’s this stunning from the outside what it’s going to look like when we get inside. Kids have already run off. So, uh should we go and find out what the mosque looks like inside? [Music] Oh wow, this is stunning. We seem to be pretty much the only people in here. So maybe it’s a good thing if you come in in the morning. [Music] [Music] Now we’ve been taken to the Aman Citadel. So we’ve got a tour guide who’s taking us around, showing us all the different sites. You get a really, really lovely view of the city up here as well, which is nice. So, we’re just headed up to some what looks like some ancient ruins. Down below me is the the Roman theater as well. But others can believe that this was rather a winery designed for smashing grapes to make wine. That’s why the floor is uh sloping sloping towards the hole. Ow. Now, Dad, run. Dad, run. Catch him. Catch him. Catch him. I’m currently standing at the ruins of the Hercules Temple. A lot of it got damaged through earthquakes. So, this is what this is what we’ve got left. It’s really lovely up here with all the views as well. It’s a really lovely place. The kids are having a little bit of a run around. They’re quite tired because it was quite a late flight yesterday, so we haven’t had much sleep, but Oliver um is starting to really enjoy the facts as well, which is nice. All about it. The tour guide said that we’re uh going to have a quiz at the end, which will be interesting because with the kids, I’m not quite sure how much I can take in. But these ruins are really, really nice. What are you doing, Oliver? Is it a bug? [Music] Whoa. Come on. Let’s do it. That’s the last one. Yeah. Come on. So, here is a house of the ruins with no roof. So, we’re just seeing it from out from the top, which is incredible. So, the kids are quite interested. They think it’s like a maze. So, I think we’re going to see if we can go down in a minute and see what it’s like inside. They’re actually really enjoying it today, seeing all the different plants and looking at the ruins. What are you doing? Yeah. Wow. So, this place is huge. Every time But I think we’re sort of headed back to where we started. We find more ruins. It’s so peaceful up here as well, which is lovely. What tunnel? Wow. What tunnel? Here. We’ve been going through the through the tunnel of trees. There’s a cat. Come on, kitty. We’re trying to make a game of it for the kids. They love going over all the ruins, twists and the turns in the little tunnels. Really nice to get the view as well. What you got there? What’s this? Oh, wow. That smells What is it? That smells really nice. The tour guy keeps giving us the different plants. She’s gone around the side. The smells and the plants and the flowers. It’s stunning. What’s that smell? What’s this one? It’s almost like lime. But what’s the What’s the leaf? This one. What was it? Lemon. Lemon. A lemon. I was close by. There’s a lemon tree here. What are these ones here? What’s this? There’s blueberries coming in this way, Ed. All the blueberries on the trees. Yeah. Stone. It’s a stone door. What? We can’t open it. We have to smash it. Hold my lemon for me. I’ll hold your lemon. Yeah. You see the elbow and the hand? The hand. Can you see the hand, Violet? I wonder if you can. No, it’s not real. It’s a star. Yeah. Did you give me your list? Yeah. Give me my Here you go. Santa poo. I love you. Oh, it’s a chair. Is it? Come on. You come to me. I want a full toys. [Music] Now we are at the Roman theater. It’s huge again. Really nice here. It looks like they’ve got like a little market. Red light. We’re playing a game of red light and green light. That helps. Can I try some? Can I try both? Is it nice? The kids love honey. Thank you. It’s got like a lemon lemon. Oh, yeah. I was going to say it tastes like lemon. That’s delicious. We’re going to take some of this honey home. It’s amazing. It comes from Did he say it was being made from the dead in the Dead Sea area? It’s absolutely incredible. Do you want to see how he It’s creamy honey? How he What? Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Look, you can see all the bees making the honey. That was amazing. Where does it come out? Wow. That’s a lot of bees, isn’t it? That’s so many. So many. Yeah. I don’t know what that is. That is I don’t know. What is this? We’re going to take some home with us. What is this? That’s it. Cheese. Cheese fruit. How much is it? Thank you. Hello. Can I please get the coin? What is it? Do you want to try this? No. Mom, I have Let me try it. Coin cup. Mom, I have to get the coin cup. Oh, wow. Oh, Oliver, try this. Thank you. We’ve come down. It’s a bit noisier down here. We’re on the hunt for some nice food, some souvenirs, maybe a nice coffee if I smell one out. That’s nice. Some really nice. Is that the call to prayer? Yeah, I think so. Lovely being able to hear that. So, what souvenirs do we like to get? We like to get magnets, Christmas decoration, gold things. Should we see what they’ve got in here? Oh, all the shiny things. This shiny. That’s shiny. Unfortunately, cuz we’re only hand luggage, we can’t take a snow globe home with us this time. Oliver, they’ve got coins out here. What are these coins? Old coins. Old coins. Still on the hunt for our food. Coming down here, they’ve got lots of football shirts, clothes, gadgets, everything that the kids seem to want to touch. Got them both. Yeah. You’re playing hot. You’re playing There’s a pink one. Don’t just don’t just put your mouth around them. Right. Come on. Let’s go. Violet touches everything. Come on. We’re still looking for something. Come on. Violet. We’re on the hunt for food. Hello, kitty. Hello, kitty. Have a kitty. No, you don’t need that. We keep looking. Then we can wait. We have to look. Listen, we’re going to walk back this way. So, if you don’t see something better, we’ll get it. But let’s look for now. Okay. We don’t want to use it. We don’t want to get everything now. Violet, Violet, come on. We’re still on the hunt for our street food. Oliver and Violet are literally trying to go in every single shop. Lots of different gadgets and clothing and textiles. There’s not actually that many souvenirs. Actually, not many souvenir shops. Not much of a tourist place. Obviously, where the locals come to just do their normal shopping, but that is what I asked for. I asked for a local market. Yeah. It’s nice to see the way all the local things. This looks like It does look like grapes, doesn’t it? That’s cool. And this one looks like an apple. You want some nice grapes? They’re like apples. Would you like to take one of them both? Oh, they got pear. They’re heavy. Who’s going to put that in their suitcase? Which one do you want? I want one. Which one? You want to die? What about which one would you like? Oh, wait. Here we go. Look. Here you go. Come on. Look. Where’s Oliver? Come on in. We’ve been directed slightly further up for some food. Oh, wow. Look at all the beautiful color dresses. How pretty. Oh, I can smell food. What? Something smells good. But where is it? Mom, do you like that? Yeah. That’s pretty, isn’t it? Looks like this is like some more of the traditional incense perfume. [Music] Good. Yeah, there’s another sweet shop. Should we ask? See how much these ones are. How much is it? How much? This one. How much is this? Oh, you have to choose and weigh it. You don’t need the whole bag. Is it smaller? [Music] One dinner. One dinner. Yeah. Yeah. This your bag. Okay. Okay. We’ll just eat what you want from it then. Take it. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Well, the kids have eaten well today. They’ve had ice cream, sweets, sweets, and slushes and honey. It’s a joke. Is that? No, he didn’t like it. Still. Oh, okay. Lovely here. The gems. The weather’s really nice as well. Yeah, it’s really nice. Not too hot, but just right. All the traditional dresses and bunnies and Oh, look at the baby chicks. Don’t put your fingers in those. All right. Come on then. No, no, no. You don’t have a second. Here we are. And they’ve got chips. What is What? What are they? Yeah. Just show one of my chicken. Show them my chicken. That’s chicken. And the and chicken also and this one. Yeah, this sha chicken with mushrooms with cheese fries. And this one. Same this with the bread. Are they spicy or no? Yeah, this is fried. And this one. Same this with the bread. Are they spicy or no? And this is like So, we didn’t have much luck with the food and we had to get back in the taxi, but we did find some kebab. So, we’ve got it here in the in the taxi. You find the kebab. And daddy, how’s yours? M. Pretty good. Is it good? Yeah. Shawama. Shawama. And this one’s chicken as well. Let’s give it a taste. Yeah, that this one’s nice. I find it hard to believe we walked so far and we couldn’t find anything. Yeah, I was. Yeah, I know. I’m surprised about that. This is good. I thought it was going to be brimming with street food and stuff. It’s not really good. So, I had just come out to have a little look to see what dinner me and Ed could get tonight. And I got very distracted by this traditional sweet shop. And I’ve just come in and wow, they’ve let me try some of it and it looks incredible. And I’ve got a bag of it to take back. So Ed’s going to kill me because I was only supposed to pop out for a few minutes. But I couldn’t resist trying all of these chocolates. It’s incredible. And they were so friendly in here. Thank you for helping and letting me try so much. It was delicious. So I think that just about rounds up our first impressions video here today in Alman. We’ve had a really fantastic time. We’ve seen some amazing sites. We tried some lovely food. Little bit disappointed that there weren’t more choices for our lunch, but what we did have was delicious, so that makes up for it. I think everybody here has been super friendly, super welcoming when we were in and out of the shops. I mean, the kids can always be a bit of a challenge. They want to touch all the souvenirs and everything, but everyone here was playing with them. No one told them off and everyone just embraced the kids being in their shop, which was really, really nice. So, it also feels really safe. I mean, Ed’s actually already popped back into the hotel, and I’m just out here seeing what there is for our dinner, and I feel completely safe out here on my own, which is lovely. Everyone’s walking past and smiling. It seems like a really lovely place to be. So, thank you. Thank you. Even when people are trying to sell you things like that man just was there, you say no and they do just leave you alone, which is lovely. So, definitely worth a visit here. First impressions, Aman, we’ve had a great time.
