good morning Welcome back to On the Road Adventure And today we are in a gorgeous Dutan More specifically we are at Camping Gorgees Dutan which is really very nice indeed Yeah it’s right by the river It’s full of uh people who are active not like us And they just they packed all the stuff in little barrels and they uh after their canoes or whatever and they climbing and all sorts of stuff And then there’s people we can see from the distance but it’s quite far to show you They ziplining up somewhere that they’re going to be climbing So we’re going to have a look in a minute Yeah Once we’ve been fed first obviously priorities I’ll tell you what else there is a lot of here Massive ants I woke up this morning and opened up the little zip and the vest there and I caught one trying on my crocs He was halfway up the road See honestly the ants here they’re massive like this I’ll try to find one for you and show you in a minute Huge things Well we should get some breakfast and get going We should do Yeah It’s half past 10 now and we’re still sat doing nothing aren’t we Let’s do that Just making a simple omelette this morning It’s actually quite good Look at this master chef Look making omelets now on the trans Yeah Well I did it the other day And here you go Rich That’s your breakfast And I’ve got some um three different French cheeses for you to try Watched No I bought this selection of three little cheeses yesterday I’ve no idea what they are but I’m going to get rich to taste them What sort of cheese is this then French French cheese It’s le from cows I don’t know M Oh that reeks man That one’s gone moldy Oh bloody hell That’s got me gagging already That smells worse than you could ever imagine Oh I don’t know about that She’s trying to force this to me Bugger off with that That reeks This one looks like a little common M Very sticky Nice The second one I don’t smell my food No way You can keep Okay I’m on the second cheese Could be something not cow maybe That one’s black And this one what’s it like inside It’s white inside but outside is dark It’s got um a lot of mold on it Oh man I can’t That is horrendous Rich Everyone’s going to think you are pretending Well you’ll see a pile of puke in a minute and I’ll show you Anyway because we’re traveling on the motorbike so we don’t really have anywhere to keep stuff like this That’s why I bought a small selection And it looks like I’m alone with it and my omelette So I better start it This is why I can’t even do cheese tasting with just going to have to eat all of that cheese by myself that has actually grown mold That’s the whole point isn’t it That’s what it is Moldy cheese French are known for it Dirty bastards It’s nice You should like You should forget about the smell and just give it a go Why would anybody pick up something that smells that bad and eat it Oh don’t worry Just forget about the smell Oh no That’s enough to make you gag but it tastes lovely What a nice place I always say that leaving the campsite I think it especially helps though when it’s sunshine I mean to be fair we’re right by this river and I signed Eva up for these activities There’s a caravan down there in front and you sign up there and then they’ll take you climbing up in those rocks and um ab sailing and I don’t know whatever else you do Dangle from a wire and all that malarkey Well she didn’t seem very keen for that I don’t blame you to be fair Gorgeous dutan This place what a place it is If you’re going to come around here I would definitely recommend staying at this campsite here which is that sign there Look less gorgeous Dan twostar campsite I’ll tell you what the showers and all the rest of it absolutely immaculate in there Really really good I think we’re paid short of €20 or something for that If you want to do you know canoeing here for example you can do all that or climbing around and dangling off rocks if that’s your thing Or you can walk along the river on the other side and walk up to the town and sit in restaurants and whatnot as well Well from what I can see on the maps it looks like we’re not going to be short on really good scenic roads today Now I have had problems actually choosing a direction and a route because you can’t ride all the roads and we’re surrounded by national parks here And as Eva said it is just really really twisty looking roads What a nice place Look bars and restaurants sitting outside in the sunshine Very nice too I really like these sort of like small villages and places right where they I’m sure they could upgrade their things and have all modern petrol pumps and modern things and the shops and all that but they don’t They like it as it is and it’s left as it is And that’s what keeps the charm of these places You don’t want it to look like everywhere else I spend my mornings answering uh questions and uh comments and things on the YouTube videos And something that came up this morning was somebody asking about what we do about insurance because if you get a policy in the UK you can only have usually it’s 30 or 90 days in Europe over the whole year And obviously we do more than that Well our friends at Bike Shore are supporting the channel and are helping us out a little bit And what they’ve actually done is they’ve searched out through different brokers to find a broker who will insure our bikes the whole year round in Europe which is absolutely essential to us You need that peace of mind to know that your pride and joy is insured should somebody uh take a like into it try to pinch it or you know any other bad scenario So thanks to Bike Shaw for supporting the channel You know it really does make it possible for us to do what we do and bring these videos to you guys a hot day This area of France strongly reminds me of actually being in Spain I never thought of France like this with these twisty sort of hanging roads and things you know and hot sunshine Bloody brilliant Look at that I wonder if they chiseled that rock out to make the road more naturally like that This tener is a lot of fun in these twisties It could be one of the best handling bikes I’ve had with the combination of the 21 up front 18 rear wheel and it just being so light and comfortable Just makes this bike so much fun And it feels easy and effortless as well A lot of people keep asking in the comments are we missing the Africa Twins Heat Heat Heat up here Hello bikers Are you hot From Estonia I think I can see why this place is populated with bikers And again in the comments I was discussing with somebody they used to go to Spain every year but the ferry now to Spain is so expensive that for a couple of them to go there and back and pay for the cabin and whatnot as well you know it’s like £1,000 and he’s saying he can do his whole trip coming over to um Sherburg and do you know a France trip for the cost of the ferry to Spain and so now they come to France instead Loads of these little tunnels coming along here You can only imagine how much work must have gone into you know chiseling this road out I wonder how long it took them to make this See those twisties there And if we look over there there looks like a a pass I can see some bikes coming down there But sadly our route is not taking us that way This is what I was saying this morning There are so many roads that look like that around this national park And you could probably spend a week exploring these areas riding all these roads Does make you wonder whether we should turn left there doesn’t it Let’s stop here a minute Let’s have a little look in the map Where does that go Eh All right So we are going to go up this path We’ve no idea really where it goes but it looks great on the map So we’re going that way Sometimes when you see something like that you you’ve just got to take the opportunity and and see where it goes because otherwise what happens is somebody will be in the comments later when we’ve edited this video and it gets to you guys in a few days time and they’ll tell us just how amazing it is up that place we just missed It looks quite tight and scary to be fair It does That’s all right We need some practice on the switchbacks with these little clutch control This is what I absolutely love about the way that we travel We don’t have a deadline or a hotel or something that we got to get to Tell you what this must be some effort to cycle up here You got to give it to them cyclist didn’t you Not my idea of fun That’s a long way down This makes hard lock Pass look like a a straight motorway doesn’t it We’re both finding with this bike that the um clutch control is very challenging There’s a very small amount of area between on and off with the clutch And I know that that’s been a thing with these bikes in previous models and Camelway DV have come out with a clutch mod for that and um we’ll definitely be trying to fit that to our bikes before the next trip I think Well this is a must and I’m getting that clutch before I even go back to UK because I have to have it I’m not sure if that part actually exists yet for the uh 25 model I’m sure at Camo ADV will be working on it cuz there’s a new thinner clutch cover on this one So I’m not sure that there’s the clearance there for the longer arm So I consciously put myself on this roads but I would not go on roller coasters because it’s too dangerous Isn’t that interesting I think it’s a thing about having control I’m exactly the same I’ve no interest in things like that at all but I’m in control of my bike and if I mess up it’s my problem We’re just driving by and I noticed this structure It made out of all of these uh stones Imagine being somebody that take the time to lift all them stones in place and build that It’s got a sheep on it Must be some sort of shelter for um people farming or something in case you get stuck up here in bad weather or something I have no idea But it’s admirable the amount of effort that somebody’s gone through to put that there Any road we take it just turns out to be magnificent I know we said it so much today but it really is great And if you’re a biker and you’re looking for somewhere to come you won’t be disappointed here for sure All I could do with is a nice coffee stop No point me trying to film them because they uh they look like dots in the sky on a GoPro camera but there are vultures circling around Wow Sorry I got distracted again Every time you go around a corner it’s like mind blown Yeah they’re huge vultures They’re riding the thermals Really really impressive birds Massive wingspan They got to be 6 ft across I reckon The rock formations and stuff is just stunning There’s absolutely no way if I had seen photos of this before I would ever have guessed that this is France France of all places Everywhere we’ve been through France every time it’s just flat and farmland and I don’t know what we’ve been doing Come down in the bottom of the valley now Another beautiful little town down here Question is is there a lunch and coffee stop What do we reckon There’s some people sat outside over here Bar ale resto whatever that is I reckon that’s a good place to stop Nice sat here in the restaurant outside And as we did sit down feels like it’s going to rain in a minute It might be Well we managed to order some food Hine beer Very nice too So I’ve ordered a uh a steak and Eva’s gone for a goat cheese salad warm goat cheese In the meantime we are having concerns about these clutches that we’ve got on these bikes As you might know they were replaced within a few hundred miles I think 350 mi and they were replaced because the clutches were dragging that was replaced Sorry I don’t really understand mechanics that much Well the bottom line is that the um previous models the 23 and 24 CP2 engines were recalled because of the clutch and we’re both finding on our bikes now the clutch is immediate It’s either on or off which is a real problem for the slow control stuff So I did have a little look online and uh chat GPT and yeah lots of other people are also now reporting the same problem So I’m guessing there might be more recalls on that So we went when we when we sorry when we were riding up the uh tide turns I had a moment where if I was recording I would include this or I would have included this in the video a couple minutes ago and just impossible to gain the control of the bike Once you go too far with the clutch you are on a tight corner There is a stone wall ahead of you What do you do now So I do feel like you know I’ve only been riding just under 3 years and I don’t think it does zap your confidence The friction zone on the clutch is well it’s basically non-existent It is either engaged or disengaged And as Ev said the problem is on the slow speed hair pins it it’s like just dropping the clutch carelessly Um so it’s a bit of a problem I know that the camel ADV fix I I’ve looked online It’s been confirmed that the um ADV one finger clutch which opens that friction zone doesn’t fit the 25 model So we’re going to make some phone calls in a minute back to the UK and um see if Rugged Roads know if they’re actually developing that perhaps from Camel um or if somebody else does it I’m not sure But it’s it’s an immediate concern that needs to be dealt with It’s going to cause a problem without doubt Do you know of any other brands that made a a part like that Yeah Okay no problem All right Well all we can do is hang on for a couple of months and try not to launch the bike over a cliff Yeah As soon as you get it put on your social media I suspect that you’ll sell out pretty damn quick Thank you very much Speak soon They working on it Doesn’t exist yet probably be a couple of months cuz mercy voila mercy mercy Now as our journey continues along this uh river tarn in the gorgees the road is just epic Hugging these sort of cliff faces as we go through turn after turn after turn You never get time to get bored of this This is awesome passing all these trees for a long time trying to guess what it is And we think these are cherry trees Yes And we saw a man in the last village who had loads in the back of his car for sale Definitely sweet cherries They look amazing They nearly black Do you think we get in trouble Yeah definitely I’m just going to have a closer look Just a quick look Just a quick look Just look Don’t eat Don’t eat No No Oh hell I’ve never seen that before Oh it fell off They got bugs on now Yeah of course Oh there’s lots of bugs on it It’s a field Oh look at that I’ve never never seen that before Hey you shouldn’t probably be doing that Oh look There’s people picking it Yeah you can go and ask to buy some fireworks Yeah Nobody’s a tree like that I had no idea it come from France He’s such a city boy I can’t believe it I really have Yeah I could not work here because it would be one for the pot two for me One for the pot two for me What a nice way though to spend your afternoons like earning money Yeah Picking the cherries off the tree Put your your earphones in or whatever Be right in the sunshine wouldn’t it Yeah I went to pick strawberries when I was 15 Wake up 4:00 a.m A van would pick me up from a village and some other people go and pick the strawberries Be home by 3 4:00 Terrible Oh yeah I only did it one year There’s a bridge in the back there If you can see it’s quite long and impressive We have added it to our map of things to see But to be honest with you I forgot why was it special I think it’s just a massive scenic vioideuct bridge And it does look impressive from a distance but I think it will take us a little way out of our way to uh go to that one Our route took us on the uh main road for a little while So we turned off that and immediately look what we are greeted with Straight onto these twisty roads running alongside beautiful lake Time and time again you turn off the main road and just things improve tfold Sure it might take us 2 hours longer to get to where we’re going but what do you care when you’re looking at this These roads just seem endlessly good We changed from one environment to another and we’re on a fairly fast road now But look how good this road is Endless sweeping corners a decent speed limit perfect condition roads and blue skies and sunshine Well I have found a campsite but in broken language situation uh camping entry 30 m Uh so the lady said in broken English French that we should call her when we got here because it’s shut at the reception There’s reception there So hopefully she’s going to come and let us in or sort us out Well we’ve got the pitch number 18 This one is one of those campsites that I really do not like Pound for this pound for that Just charge me €30 and have everything included I really don’t like that sort of pettiness of a little bit for that a little bit for this But well hopefully it’s not too bad Well I can tell we are south because it’s so dry There’s no way of putting pegs in at all The campsites and the pitches look like they need some love But we will make do for one night And this is exactly why it’s so important to pick the right tent When you’re traveling in Europe you definitely want a freestanding tent like the MSR Elixir 4 or many other of MSR are freestanding Um the one that we have that is a tunnel tent it would not even go up in here I will be sw stressing and swearing a lot uh to try to make it work We just pack the bike close by and Rich’s going to clip this Don’t know if that’s a wise idea You think Well we can get in that now at least don’t we Tonight for dinner this chicken we bought in little It was already spiced Some cheese because why not And bit of coleslow Wow It’s not proper cheddar cheese is it That’s for sure But I’m willing to try this one At least it doesn’t stink like the last stuff you had And good It’s not bad It tastes like you know when you buy um really cheap mild cheddar something like that That’s that sort of like soft cheese taste Just don’t eat the mold on the other end It’s edible but it’s not pilgrim’s choice is it Wonder if you left that long enough it would properly mature and crumble like cheese should You know you know nothing about cheese I know It should be proper crumbly extra mature cheddar Nothing else Well we had a good feed there Sometimes the simple things are the best You bit of chicken and salad Job done Very good too Well we had a beautiful day riding and would recommend this to anybody It has been fantastic Yeah you don’t even have to plan the routes too much Just get yourself to a good region and any road will be good anywhere where there’s national parks here in the south of France You know we’ve just had so much
