Just ordered a black out tent and looking online for reflective material to place over tent to maximize the cooling but there isn't much option. Surprised I can't find a normal plastic tarp that's reflective. This stuff is apparently great for keeping the temperature down but it's a cloth material apparently so not water proof at all. Not sure how durable either.
I guess I could put a normal tarp over the tent and then this over top of the tarp (probably the cheapest option). Anyone find a waterproof material that works for reflecting heat or would this with a tarp be the best option? Price wise as well.

A roll of reflectix will do the trick. Cut to fit your tarp and tape the edges/seams.

I did this for my truck cap to keep the heat soak from the sun out. Works quite well.

If I’m camping in a place with no shade, I take a tarp with four poles and hang it above the tent. It does great for keeping the tent cool.

    3. A popular solution is to but a 10×10 ezup over your tent. With or without that fancy reflective material.

In reality – keeping a tent cool in hot temps is not easy. Anything that keeps the heat out will keep the heat in. I find that airflow is the key to staying cool.
