DAILY LIVING in KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA (Motorcycle TRIP PREP AND 4MYTU LUGGAGE)

just as Jay and I were getting ready to start our day it started pouring outside so not that you can see it very well from this uh from this view but I guess we’re going to come back a little later well that didn’t take too long the sun is actually out behind me and we are driving into what looks like more rain but anyways we have some errands that we want to run today before we head off on our big adventure up to the border to do our border run so we wanted to take you guys along with us so we’re back we’re here to get an oil change um it’s not quite due for an oil change but not something that Jay and I really wanted to do on the road even though it’d probably be easy to find places to do an oil change we figure we’ll just get it done before we go and then don’t have to worry about it till we get back just just oil change
yeah we’re uh we’re heading to Thailand tomorrow we’re going to drive up to Thailand so I want to get the oil changed and just check like check to make sure like all the brake calipers are tight check the tires all that kind of stuff just kind of give it a a going over and make sure it’s ready for a road trip
    okay
    okay
okay so I check the oil i change the oil change i change the oil engine oil and the gear oil
    okay
gear oil and then inspection inection
inspection yeah gear yeah gear oil engine oil and inspection for road trip okay sound good okay awesome how long will it take you think m
like half hour an hour we’re just going to go and eat so
    probably your helmet
    oh
I’ll throw that inside 1 hour yeah okay
    thank you all right
i’ll put them the helmets inside
    all right
so about an hour there we go scooty’s up on the stands almost already [Laughter] it’s been six seconds hey uh super quick
okay I just got to get under the seat
yep jay’s just putting his gloves away getting his hat so he doesn’t look like a hoodlm
thank you we’ll see you see see you a little later so the Honda dealership that we’ve come to is like in this big like strip mall so there’s a lot of different little things along here so
if you’ve been if you’ve been watching you’ll remember this this is the Honda MPNX in Cuching that we brought our bike about a month ago to have service and new belt and CBT service and all that
uh you guys were great said they gave us you know good fair pricing so we’ll come back to them yeah so yeah let’s go walk around this place and see what we can find for uh somewhere to eat so did Val tell you why we’re here
    you did yeah
    just getting the bike
well it’s fresh oil change and service gone over completely make sure it’s 100% ready to go for our trip starting tomorrow
so welcome to the Wednesday walk guys
    welcome to the Wednesday walk
    here we go
damn it you stole my line
i know you always say it we weren’t walking
i know so let’s go see what we can find
i know what we can find in here lots of good Honda stuff
yeah another thing we have to do is pay the rent so what we typically do will go to a May bank we found that the May Bank here is probably one of the better banks to use because it lets us withdraw the most money
um we’ve had the best luck there with
most of them allow you to pull up to,500 RM in one withdrawal we have been to some may banks that allow three 3,000
um but so what we do is um because our landlord deals with the public bank we’ll withdraw from the May bank and then we go to the public bank we actually go in fill out a little like deposit slip take it to the counter
    it’s old school
it is really old school but we don’t have a bank account here so
I haven’t filled out a deposit slip since I since I had a bank account with CIBC back in the ‘9s I know how old I am i get it i get it anyways so that’s what we’re going to do after we look around here and maybe find something to snack on or
    see if there’s a bank
pretty sure actually there’s a May bank and a public bank down the road okay
but they’re way on the other side of the mall so
    that’s fine
let’s stroll around this place and see what we can find
yeah we’ll take you for a little walk through here
i know there’s another cool little bike shop I want to check out but it’s like 20-minute walk away oh okay so this might be like the bike repair shop row it looks like there’s no there’s no food on this
there’s a whole like we’re on the outside edge of this big complex so there might be
all kinds of stuff going that way do you want to hop over this way
let’s go this way down the alley yeah this one might be kind of an industrial but a lot of um there’s a lot of places like this like we call them strip malls back at home but just on the lower level of maybe like three or four high-rise
that’s the way most of the neighborhoods and that are here when you get into these little industrial areas it’s just rows of strip malling in a in a city block
you get Pizza Huts coffee shops you know western food local food i did see a Pizza Hut here there definitely is one here but
there’s a Pizza Hut here so just like over around in here
yeah we’ll just walk up this way
    okay
yeah this one’s definitely a little more industrial there’s lots of print There’s some print shops and stuff and it’s funny how like in Southeast Asia we see it a lot more in Thailand and and Vietnam but it it’s it’s somewhat similar here how you’ll see groupings of similarly uh similar stores and that so if you find if you find the bike shop quarter it’ll be like you know 30 bike shops all around and if you find the electrical one it’ll be all the little electric shops all the way around where you can buy all your light bulbs and cords and stuff so it’s funny how they all group together and that but everybody seems to make money and stay in business so
    I don’t know how
    I don’t know
    that always wonders me but
um we get up to the end we can walk around the front side maybe there’s more on the front side
yeah so this is what I’m talking about so they’re like two uh two levels sometimes there are businesses upstairs we’ve been to a few like um gear shops that are you just go through a little doorway up to the
second level yeah second level yeah see lots of body shops and stuff at this point
yeah this is uh definitely a automotive bike shop repair shop area all right we’re going to walk around to the front
    and car washes
yes car washes too which you get we’ve gotten our bike washed twice and it was 20 ringit each time we’ve gotten the bike washed
yeah we went to the same place
20 20 ring it for a basic wash
you just drop it off go yeah
    pick it back up
they do a nice job so this is the side with all the shops let’s go check out the menu at this place
yeah why not it’s like a little local place
why not let’s try it look at the kids meal a little teddy bear little teddy bear plate
    that’s funny
so nasty go rain oh they just This is This is it so it’s super simple
yeah so a lot of just I mean not a lot of there’s one two three four fiveish dishes of varying things like I would just go for a nazi gorang or nasi goring I am that’s easy right yeah you want to do that
    sure
get some iced teas just eat here you want to walk any further
    no this is fine
    all right let’s pop in
all right so this is what the place looks like
you want to sit we’re going to have a seat right here and uh try it out hello
well they do have like a menu menu ah there we go
thank you got to take my sleeves off they’re so hot
uh can we get a tea tail ice da oh no one one tea ice one uh cham ice there you go and then I’m just going to get nasi gorang which one um which what is what what is this
this is roasted gar we fried
oh roasted roasted this is roasted
so it’ll come with roasted chicken with fried rice i’m going to get the roasted
that’s the uh nasi gor ring i am
    yeah that one
yeah so this is fried and this is roasted this has got something on it
this is a little bit spicy
    spicy
    a little bit
i don’t want I don’t want spicy though what about this one
this one’s very very very spicy
oh look at the red sauce
i know i know i saw that this is green chilies this is red chilies okay um Okay let’s uh let’s get two of those
roasted roasted yeah i always forget to say no pettis because I do not handle spicy jay he’s a little bit more tolerant than I am but hey
yeah you don’t you don’t realize how spicy some of their just natural dishes are and you’ll order it and get it and be like “Oh I’ll just get some of this rice.” And you’re like “Oo that’s that’s really spicy for just a normal dish.”
    Yeah
what did we What did I get yesterday oh we got some uh last night we grabbed some sweet and sour chicken just from one of the restaurants down below our in our in our complex and it was super sweet honey it was very very tasty but we noticed there’s like these big red peppers and that in it val took one bite and like she’s like nope
it tasted really good but it was a lot of heat with that sweet not for me it was like
it should be called sweet sour and hot
    yeah spicy meatball good
all right so yeah you’ll I mean what’s great about there’s there’s little places like this everywhere and they’re not typically on like Google Maps
they’re just like mom and pop shops but you know
Yeah a lot of them serve similar foods you know similar menus of different
fried rices and fried noodles and stuff
inexpensive like I think it was 12 ringit for a plate
    just now
    um
    so not bad
yeah you can eat you can eat as cheap as you want to i know we’ve been going to expensive places you know bagel sandwiches and things like that but
but those are just treats but
yeah those are more special occasions but you can really you can really eat inexpensively here like our budget here has been lower than anywhere else
um this time around has been lower than
we’re Yeah yeah by a lot which is great
we’ve been spending on other things
yeah which we are going to go through yeah we are going to go through our gear like our safety gear uh little bits and bobs for the for the bike what tools we’re bringing clothes all of that we’re going to share with that after we get the bike back
just a quick rundown on how we prepared for this road trip
yeah and of course we’re going to answer some questions along the way too well that was fast roasted chicken it smells really good really fragrant it a lot of the um meals here come with soups they’re just like clear broth soups the chicken broth
and um yeah the fried rice looks good
yeah we got roasted chicken instead of the usual fried yeah big old iced tea what do you prefer iced tea iced coffee or cham never had I never had cham until we came here i always got like iced coffee and then somewhere they brought me a jam which is supposed I guess half tea half coffee i’m trying it again first time I had it I thought it was kind of weird but uh I’m trying it again but what do you what do you prefer do you like the jam or do you just like iced tea or iced coffee all right so if that was lunch we had it got some ice refills and a lid put on our cup so we’ll take them with us down to the bike shop
    mhm
    and uh
    How much was lunch
    30 ringit altogether for the
like two dishes and two drinks
    like 10 bucks pretty good
there it’s better than 88 ringit like last time
like last time yeah but I mean it was a western meal but
last time yeah fish and chips australian fish and chips last time i don’t know the fish doesn’t care where it’s from
    no
all right so shall we go yeah let’s uh let’s mosy
    let’s mosy okay
woo it’s bright now the sun’s out clouds are gone hey they put a little lid on it more ice i find that when you get like an iced tea made they actually brew it hot and they put it over ice so the ice doesn’t last long so sometimes you have to get your ice topped up cuz it melts like really fast
same with the coffee but yeah and it’s like you drink half of it and then you get a refill it’s like you get a full cup again
    mhm
    it’s like two for one
    mhm love that
and I find if they give if you order something and forget to tell them less sweet
    Oh yeah
if you add more ice and let it melt it makes it less sweet yes that’s true
i’m not a fan of that super sweet coffees and teas malaysians are fans of sweet things
    and spicy
    oh my gosh
    how was your rice
super spicy it had like green chilies in it oh my gosh i only had half of my rice it was so hot
we never We never think about how they put Yeah they’ll throw the chilies in everything cuz she asked them spicy she said “Oh no it’s not uh Yeah we specific specifically asked which one was spicy and she said get this one it’s not spicy green chilies in the rice
cool so here’s um Pizza Hut
    pizza Hut
so they have No your standard little I was just wondering if they had anything like Malaysian on their menu specific
    yeah but they don’t really
    I don’t think they do
no because when you go to like the KFC here or McDonald’s Burger King they always have like Malaysian items that you can’t get in Canada which is always fun and interesting to try different little things okay so we’re going to uh I don’t know there’s a a plumbing home hardware shop we miss going through places like that we were always like renovating houses and working on stuff back in Canada so we spent a lot of time in the hardware stores looking at home decor stuff so it’s fun to go through them once in a while just to do comparisons
this is what their uh hardware shop looks like you can get keys made brooms all kinds of like cables for all your household needs wild you just got to know where to look and they’re usually all like kind of together like Jay was saying earlier there’s another one too right here even that was in an hour
it’s ready already we’ll go inside and sit
look they even got another bike up on the stands already it’s all ready to go nice that was quick it’s like a Jay was saying earlier it’s kind of like a
It’s like a NASCAR pit stop
you pull in and four people jump up and surround your bike and bam everything gets done is that me that’s a punch yeah we should Honda coolant honda gear oil cbt worksmanship what is that 4t pello what is What is that the oil
that’s the oil i thought isn’t Oh Honda coolant they topped up the coolant ah
so that’s uh is that uh
    the brand or is it
    synthetic full full synthetic
okay full synthetic Honda CBT check workmanship 205 everything looks good everything is good for a trip okay
    perfect
perfect i do the budget on my phone every time we buy something so that’s what I’m doing right now so now we’re ready let’s go
they gave it a clean bill of health we’re ready for the road
yeah so while we’re here we got to wander around the shop cuz that’s just what we do see anything you like wander around the shop
well while we’re here just like a while you’re in there you know the ADB 160s are super popular here there’s a lot of them
    mhm
the nice gray one nice red one oh this is a multiolor white and red black
a little bit of gear here like a lot like a little bit of uh
jersey and things get some red ones they don’t have any uh this black and red would match all of our bike gear we bought they just don’t have any uh long sleeve ones
no all righty so get suited back up or in town gear off to do more errands [Music] we’re just making a quick stop at the bank full out the money at the May Bank that’s what it looks like and then we’re going to head on over to the public bank to do the deposit for rent we paid 2,000 ring it for rent and we have a two-bedroom two bath in case you haven’t been following the channel yeah so we’re going to do that quick and then over to the public bank nice we were able to pull out 2,000 and not Oh we’re able to pull out 3,000 at one time that’s kind of nice nice [Music] awesome [Music] indian bullet [Music] you got like a little spoiler spoiler wing [Music] so this is the public bank i feel like in Malaysia they have very distinct parking for scooters and parking for cars so if the space is big enough to fit a car don’t park your scooter in that little parking slot so they have these little um ramp ups onto the sidewalks in a lot of the places and we just park on the sidewalk wherever we can the little deposit form that we have to fill out so then once you fill it out you take it to the till and all the information and account numbers and everything that we have from our um landlord is on on the slip so it’s take a number fill out the form go to the teller give her the money and you’re good to go rent check
    yeah rent check Jay says
so we got to find somewhere to a nice place to park in the shade and chat about
    a trip
    stuff
    a gear
well no we’re going to answer some questions have a little Wednesday walk chat go figure that out
we came back to the stork park back to the stork part
the painted storks they’re so pretty so we just wanted to chat a little bit um we got a lot of questions and some concerns about Pig Pen the last time we saw Pig Pen he’s the cat that that lives in the garage where we’re staying
the last time we saw him yeah he had a blue collar on and a little bell so I’m thinking
    I think somebody adopted him
    somebody adopted him
cuz he didn’t have a collar when we first got here for a week and then all a sudden he had a caller and then a couple days later we never saw him again
yeah so unfortunately you won’t see Pig F anymore in our videos
we’ll let you know if he comes back but I have a feeling he’s probably living large in a nice house now and
isn’t too worried about living in the garage anymore
all righty so if you haven’t been following we own we bought this um Honda 168V when we were here when we got here and uh we got all the gear we got all our safety gear um
just recent more recently we bought uh riding pants i bought a new riding coat
um all all vented uh mesh gear just for the hot weather
everything we need for you know for a longer road trip that you anything you would need for a longer road trip anywhere in the world
um it’s just it’s difficult to travel with all that stuff sometimes so a lot of times we’ll we’ll buy stuff when we get somewhere but in general uh the stuff we have now is something we’re going to travel with because we do tend to rent a bike or whatever wherever we go it’s our preferred mode of transportation so we’ll probably keep this gear um couple little things for this trip the a little cargo net so we can strap some stuff under here as we go just cuz we didn’t add any additional storage bag
yeah we’re only allowing ourselves one packing cube each for the trip so we’re packing like and one toiletry bag each we don’t have a we don’t have a lot of room really we just have the the trunk uh top box and under the seat um if we’re going to be here longer or per more permanently I’d probably add some bigger luggage on the bike but it’s not really practical for us to do that now yeah so so
    speaking of luggage
yeah if you followed our channel at the very very beginning when we arrived here my luggage got completely destroyed by the airlines and
the wheel got a wheel ripped right off her big piece of
Yeah almost like flapped right over basically it was only hanging on by one side fortunately a company reached out to us and they’re called 4×2 and they wanted us to try out their luggage
we’ve received some new luggage and we wanted to show you guys an unboxing and give you an overview of our brand new luggage set from a company called 4×2
we’ll give you our first impressions show you the features of the two bags that we got we’ll do a quick overview and show you some of the features these bags have when the luggage arrived it came with dust covers on them and they were both packed with the dust covers when we opened the big one inside there was another foam packaging so everything was nicely neat packed together to keep everything safe during shipping each bag came with its own luggage tag and they also sent us a large tumbler which will explain the reason why in a minute
4×2 cases come in seven colors have a hard shell exterior that is made of 100% recycled polycarbonate material making it two times stronger and up to 20% lighter than similar cases made from ABS it has a cool wave design too which I like
the antibacterial eco-friendly lining is also made of 100% recycled materials
    kudos to for my tube
it has 360° eight silent wheels are 20% quieter glide smoothly and are super quiet even if packed up to 200 kg if you’re an avid overpacker and need extra space it has an expandable zipper that gives you an extra 35% packing space for solving any packing dilemmas and it has a top opening design to maximize storage depth one unique feature exclusive to 4×2 luggage is their patented multi-function handle that offers convenient storage options it will allow you to hang your jacket or bag display your phone or tablet and provides a secure place to store your new 4×2 tumbler they come equipped with trusty TSA locks have durable anti-burst zippers leak proof pockets and a USBA and C charging port for all your electronics the 20-in tank carry-on exterior dimensions are 21.26 in height is 13.78 wide and 10.24 in depth and when you expand it with the zipper you get about another inch in depth so a total capacity between 34 L and 42 LERs and it weighs only 3.88 kg the 27in tank trunk check-in bag the exterior including the wheels and handles measures 29.33 in high 16.93 in wide and 13.39 in deep weighs 4.91 kg and has a total capacity of 82 to 96 lers depending on whether you have the expansion zipper open
if you have concerns about returns or the warranty or you just don’t love the bag you have 100 days to return it or exchange it it has a lifetime warranty and they ship worldwide so our first impressions of the two bags were they seemed a bit niche with the cup holder handle but I’m definitely going to give it a try and I’ll keep you guys posted i do really love all the different pockets especially the waterproof one it also came with a divider panel and extra shoe cover bags those will definitely come in handy i’ve never had this style of bag before so I’m very curious to see how it’ll stack up with what I’ve used in the past i also like the adjustable straps that came on the lid having plugins for your electronics is definitely handy to have and hopefully having these external bumpers will help keep the bag safe from unnecessary damage like my last bag had i like the handle on the bottom and our backpacks still fit over the handle using the pass through strap which is super convenient but the best feature has to be the wheels they look like rollerblade wheels and are super smooth and are so quiet 4×2 has definitely put a lot of thought into this design and it seems like it’s built for durability and convenience if you’re interested in the 4×2 luggage we’ve added an affiliate link with a discount code in the description box below super excited to try it out because now I have a full-size check bag again
the 160 is not a big bike either so it doesn’t have a huge capacity for carrying weight so I think obviously between the two of us and what we’re going to have in our packs and that I think we’re probably at a at a pretty good weight range i do have a handful of tools we bring on the trips as well just some basic stuff in case we have a breakdown or a problem or whatever a tire repair kit
we do have intercom systems as well somebody had commented “Oh you need to get yourself some intercoms.” Yeah
I get all my directions turn by turn in my ears so
yeah we also have the quad lock here on Jay’s phone and then our 360 mount here as well
so that’s it we uh I know some people might be thinking you just took got your bike serviced uh uh not that long ago now you’re getting an oil change and everything else well we had put over a little over 2,000 km on it since we got it serviced and because we were doing this big trip sorry I’m getting distracted by the big stors flying around uh because we were heading out on this long trip I actually got the oil changed early so that we won’t have to worry about it the entire trip we’ll make this trip come back and we’ll still be good so just a oil change gear oil changed they checked the CVT and checked everything over and said “Gave us our blessing we’re good to go for a road trip.” We got some comments and stuff from some of our viewers um one from Sunny Young 660 said “I used to cycle the Templar Park Waterfall when I was young 50 years ago not sure if it’s still there or development took over.” Uh well Sunny thanks for the comment templar Park is still there there’s lots of development as far as housing and that when we were there but that’s basically right next door to where we were at to go to Kensing Waterfall a few weeks ago
so yeah you can still go there there’s still places to hike and roam around and
Oh yeah that’s a great place to hike and the waterfall is absolutely beautiful
and there’s so many layers to the waterfall and different areas to have picnics with your family or just kind of swim or whatever
    pretty good hike
yeah it was we had a lot of a lot of fun there it was nice and but the monkeys be forewarned
    if you know you know
    they’re little shoplifterss
    yes they are
nomad gym thanks KL Hiking uh you’ve been to Bouet Kiier that doesn’t surprise me i know you’re an avid hiker that’s funny cuz we talked about you Jim when we were on our walk thinking that you would like the walk so
that’s true so he says we should go to Bouquet Gassing
    okay yeah
which we’ve had we’ve had that comment from quite a few people so
    we’re gonna get there
hopefully we’ll get there after our uh after we get back from this little road trip we’re gonna do
yeah so big road trip we’re going to take you guys along through the whole thing do the border crossing with you guys break it down
hopefully into really simple steps it doesn’t seem like it’s that big of a thing to cross the border where we’re crossing so you just need to bring all your paperwork and
    I’m sure lots of locals
know the procedure like the back of their hand we’ve never done it but everything we’ve read we can just go to an insurance place buy the Thai insurance and they’ll fill out our forms for us for crossing the border
so we got lots of time we’ll figure it out no big deal
yeah i’m excited but part of the process
the one thing that I am disappointed at that we did find out about is that the orangutans the boat that goes over to the orangutan island Taiping
yeah in Taiping um it’s closed right now because the low level of water so the boat just closed
just closed yeah that was uh that was one of our stops on the way back
yeah so bad timing for that yeah and they just announced on their website they closed I think on the 25th that’s like today
for the next little while just because of low water levels so just
that’s a little disappointing thought maybe we’ll get a chance to go there later on before we leave Malaysia yeah maybe yeah
we did get a chance to see the orangutans when we were over on the island
    saw the big five
we did see the big five it was awesome
    it was good very good
um so that being said yeah you won’t hear from us for a couple weeks uh no won’t be any video Sunday or next Wednesday or the following Sunday
    yeah we’re we’re going to
So probably Yeah two weeks two weeks from now I guess hopefully hopefully you’ll hear from us yeah so yeah there’s going to be a pause on our channel because we’re going to be out filming for the whole time but when we get back we’ll have lots of content to share and uh we look forward to that but if you want to follow us on Instagram we’ll do daily posts on Instagram where we are what we’ve been up to that kind of thing so go head on over to Instagram and follow us watch traveling over there
cool thanks for all the likes thanks for all the uh comments and support
uh we really appreciate it we’re glad that you guys are being entertained and enjoying the content we’re putting out so
    keep it up
yeah so we will see you guys in a few weeks bye

    2. You can do the transfer from maybank to public bank account online. Its instand transfer IBG i think. No need to go to public bank to do the renting payment.

    3. 19:05 for instant transfer or post dated transfer, you not need to go to bank and do cash out and bank in at the other bank. nowadays, you can use their app on phone to transfer from Maybank to Public Bank beneficiaries. it is more simple, and can do on your couch 😁

    4. Sorry Chinese don't eat so sweet and only some like spicy not all, malay Indian like 10x sweet and spicy food, me order food in malay store need emphasize 10x less sweets

    5. You can use the Public Bank Atm for cash deposits. Just key-in your landlords account number and deposit the money to his account. You will receive a deposit slip which you can forward to your landlord.

    6. we also can use maybank apps in our phone to transfer money.. from maybnk to other bank.. so u dont have to do deposit to pay rent at bank each time..

    8. Yes, we Malay love spicy food but that small green chili we call "cili padi" is extra spicy 🔥. So you guys going for a road trip to Thailand through Betong? Gerik got many wild elephant tho, be safe👌

    9. Try using Wise for your fund transfers from overseas directly to public bank account for your rent. It's easy, and the exchange rate is the best.

    10. Cham is really old school yuppies unfamiliar wth dat beverage so anyone liking cham chances are dat ure baby boomers I do occasionally drink it I consider myself smwhre tail end of d boomers n to me cham reminisces me of good old yesteryears where people were at peace wth the world n un- rat race pace, life was one day at a time

    11. Due to the assumption that Malaysians could take the heat on varying degrees eating spicy food.

Here's some tips on ordering food. Instead of saying no pedas, resort to saying NO CHILI instead.

      See how it goes.

    12. As ADV160 owner myself, for long trips in future you may consider bringing spare CVT belt and tools to open it. Ill suggest getting a portable impact wrench from keelat. Also get 2.0ah battery to make it less bulky.

Only recommend this if you always full throttle your scooter hehe. Else have the CVT belt checked every 10k kms

    13. by george … u guys own an ADV ,,, nice …. just bought them last week …. nice bike ..great for long distance rides … best of luck on your roadtrip along the border …stay safe on the road …

    14. Withdrawal at ATM you can change the amount limit too at some of the Banks. Maybank do too. Why not you do fund transfer from Bank to Bank online at the ATM or online Apps.
