Legacy in Motion: MercedesâBenz Museum Stuttgart
Experience a captivating journey through 135 years of automotive history at the stunning MercedesâBenz Museum in Stuttgart. Spread over nine levels and 16,500âŻm² of exhibition space, the museum showcases over 160 original vehicles and around 1,500 exhibits. From the worldâs first motorcar by Karl Benz to the legendary Silver Arrows, from Popemobiles to futuristic hydrogen prototypes â all presented along a double-helix-inspired tour that symbolizes the DNA of the Mercedes-Benz brand.
Designed by UNStudio (van Berkel & Bos), the museumâs architecture is a masterpiece itself: shaped like a Reuleaux triangle, the building features a transparent, light-filled facade and column-free ramps that spiral through the structure â with spans up to 33âŻmeters and over 30,000âŻmÂł of interior space.
The unique twin spiral paths â “Legend” and “Collection” â begin at the top floor and descend in a flowing loop through time to the present, echoing the form of a DNA double helix.
The museum blends innovation and history with interactive elements such as the âPit Stopâ wheel challenge, kid-friendly audio guides, rotating special exhibitions (e.g., âYoungtimersâ), and a vibrant cultural calendar with open-air cinema, lantern parades, and community events on the museum hill.
