Camping in a Motorhome in France | Part 4 | Millau Viaduct & Wild Boar
This must be the best play park I’ve ever seen on a campsite. Check this out. [Music] Welcome back to part four. Last time we met some cheeky chickens, braved a chilly swim, Becky sipped through the trees, and we hit a snag at the bottom of an elevator. Pushed air versus barrier. We even stumbled across a village dance party before landing in Malaw. Let’s see what happens next. So, make sure you stay tuned. Okay, that was really easy. I tried to speak French, which was good, and she understood. Then I had to revert to English cuz I didn’t understand. But we’re on pitch F3. It’s a short drive. Pool’s open, play area is open, shops open, restaurants are open. So, uh, let’s go get our pitch. We’ve just arrived at the Sandale Revage in Milo, part of a premium campsite chain across France. For €157 for five nights, it’s great value with river access, pools, a bar, restaurant, and loads of family fun. I’m hot. It’s hot. We’re in. This pitch is massive. Easily room for two motor homes side by side. We’re actually trying out our sun shade just from uh the sh uh from van life that we bought. Thanks, Becky. Got power just behind the bushes. This pitch is meant to have water, but actually what’s happened is you got two pitches together. And then there’s like a shared water source over there behind this one, which is frustrating, but we’ve sorted it. Um, so we’re now going to go find the pool and go swimming. Boys all settled. Sunny’s reading the map. There’s actually a river just behind these trees and you can see the mountains in the background or very high hills. You might have seen on the way in past my sweaty face that uh you can see the Malo vioaduct as well. Like you can on this site you can have premium pictures which have their own washroom facilities and sort of decked area. It’s pretty cool. There was none available for us. There’s your water source there and there’s our neighbor. Let’s go to the swimming pool. Leine. We’re heading from our pitch past reception. the play park, balls, basketball, and finally the pool. There’s a kids splash zone, an adults only section, big slides, and here comes Becky and Sunny flying down now. Well done, boys and girls. You want to go now? You want to go there, dear? So, Paul’s done, had some dinner. The heat here just makes you not hungry. I really don’t have an appetite which hopefully means I’ll come back four stone lighter unless I drink it all back up to wait. We’re going to go see what’s on at the bar if there’s anything. I don’t think there’s much entertainment at the moment in France because it’s the kids are still in school. So, we’ll see. There’s loads of adults here though, so you’d expect there to be something. These are the pictures where you get own decking and your own little washing up facility. Like premium pictures. There we go. Look. Very cool. Hey The mountains up there are amazing. There’s also quite a handy little cycle and uh pathway that leads you into Malaw. I’ll show you goes all the way past reception and then as you can see people on their bikes. This must be the best play park I’ve ever seen on a campsite. Check this out. Yeah, even the kids are enjoying it. How many slides can you get? Wee. Go on, L. Just to put it in perspective, you can see four slides, I think, in this in the scene uh in the on the screen. Good boy. But look at this. Just slides after slides after tunnels after slides. That’s pretty awesome. It’s in the shade as well cuz it’s like 35° here. And then you’ve got some more player play stuff there. And then the kids club in the background and a swimming pool next door. What happened in slow motion? [Music] So we went to the bar, but some funny of a British bloke got pulled over by his dog and ended up with an injury. Saw the bar stuff. We’re busy attending him. Gave up waiting with the kids. It’s too hot. So we’re going to go back and have a chill cuz I’m tired. But on the face of it, looks like a really good site. I can imagine in season this place is absolutely amazing as well. Especially if they got entertainment that on. There was nothing on tonight, which is a shame for a Saturday night. There’s quite a few different pictures. You can also have these statics that like shalets that are done really really nicely. And at the end of the road that we drove down to find our pictures like the beach into the river. I’ll show you now as we walk past the lodges towards the riverside beach. The evening light is stunning and it’s still around 30°. So, let’s have a quick look before we head back to the motor home and get the boys to bed. While I’m filming the beach, Becky suddenly shouts. And yep, there it is. A wild boar on the opposite riverbank. Have a look at this. So, I don’t know if you saw that, but one of my little wishes came true, which is to uh see a wild boar. And there it was. Becky spotted it. I was busy trying to dip my toe in the water and see what the water was like. and uh it was stood over the over the wall over the way. So uh a little bit wary but got got stuck in the water. So uh yeah got nice and cozy. So that was really cool. That’s uh in Malaw next to Wolf Den bear a distance. I hope not. Mom’s gone. Becky’s now promised to make me uh make us a nice drink. So uh we’re going to have that now cuz she’s my princess dolly. No, you Princess Dolly. Right, it’s 10:00. We’ve only just managed to get the boys down. We really struggled this whole day trying to get the boys to sleep. But check this out. You put the little light on. Put the little eye on the pilling. Yeah. Look. Look at these. There’s one. Look. Elijah’s doing like a scene from some sort of I don’t like operatic theater. Anyway, we’re going to watch a movie outside because it’s so cool. We got the fan on for the boys. If you haven’t got air con, rechargeable fan is the future. Just clips on our our curtain bar. We look like we’re in a horror movie. I sat outside in the awning looking like a horror movie. The light above us. Becky knows. Yeah. Now it looks like we’re spotlight. We’re in a horror movie. Uh we’re just watching a Netflix documentary and uh drinking vodka and orange and uh we’ll go to bed. But uh it’s very enjoyable. The temperature out here is beautiful, isn’t it? By How beautiful is it? Like 67. What do you reckon? 42. Yeah. 67. 67 out of four. So, yeah, it’s really good. So, we’re going to um watch this thing go to bed. And we got our little fly killer on which is just destroying every Yeah. Every single mosquito demand is getting destroyed. So, it’s not destroying us. Not destroying us, which is good. So, if you not got one, check this out. Get a moth. The savior. Moth. Go away. Day two. The sun is shining. We’ve had breakfast. Had a good night’s sleep, apart from uh lots of insects, splatting away on the fly killer. Um so we’re just going to go do a bit of exploring now and see what we can find. People are already been up and left. These guys are gone. So we’ve now got no one at the front of us. We’re going to go have a splash in the river now. Maybe even see another wild boar. Then we won’t be splashing. We’ll be hiding. So, here’s one of the riverf facing pictures which was just in front of ours. So, you can have your motor home lined up. Oh, it’s a fishy right next to the river. But because we’ve got that thing there, we can’t uh Wow, it’s really deep here. This is the fish in the middle. Because we’ve got Elijah, we uh we can’t cuz he’ll just be in here. He’s fearless at the moment. Right, I found the vioaduct on the campsite. I’m on the riverside facing pictures. Can you see that in the distance there? I’m probably going to have to go across that at some point before. It’s pretty scary up there. And we’re in here do this. Feel nice. There’s an egg. Is it dinosaur egg? Splash. The water’s uh not cold at all, which is lovely. But I’m not going to get in cuz it’s quite fastpaced and I’m not a good swimmer. [Music] Daddy. Just been for a splash in the little stream, which is lovely. The boys have had lots of fun. It was nice and cold water, lots of little fishies, so it was really nice. So, we’re now going to head into the town, have a little look around the surrounding areas. It’s Sunday, so everyone will be shut, but it’s nice to have a little explore. The boys are tired after their splishing and splashing, so hopefully they’ll go off to sleep and have a little nap. But we’re going to head into town now. Walking into Malao is super easy and just look at that view as you cross the river. Absolutely epic scenery all around. We just entered the town of Milo. Um and it took us about 5 10 minutes from the site, so pretty easy. We’re all in sunshine, so we’re now in the shade, which is lovely cuz it’s really hot. Yeah. See what Malaw has to offer us. Is it a thing in France where nobody picks up the dog poo? There’s dog poo everywhere. I won’t show you, but it’s just everywhere and there’s no bins around the place. So, do they know something we don’t? Should we be leaving it for fertilizer? Who knows? But it’s disgusting. We’re walking the streets of Malaw using the best navigation tool we’ve got, our noses. The shady little alleys are lined with bars and restaurants. We’ve just stumbled into a lovely square with a few spots serving lunch. So, let’s eat. So, we’ve picked a random restaurant in almost like a market square of Milo. It’s very pretty. It’s very busy. Cheers. So, we’re going to get a drink and something to eat. Hopefully, something light. Lucky the waiter here to speak uh good English, but I’ve tried tried to order. Elijah’s having a good little nap. On the way down here, we walked past like a big shopping center. Uh, it’s got everything like H&M and stuff like that. So, tomorrow we’ll have a little wander out and see what we can find. Cheers, M. Mixy mixy. Our lunch feast has arrived. Let me show you. So, we’ve got breads. We got a shakuterie board like tapass with different meats and cheeses. Yummy. And then Sunny’s got a kids meal. Sunny’s, look at that. Chicken Milanise. Yay. Well, that was a really nice meal. Perfect lunch. There’s a museum here. There’s some lovely little restaurants. So, I wonder what it’s like in the week or on a Saturday being it’s most closed today, but it’s hustly bustly. So, we woke up this morning and uh everyone’s gone. There’s no one really here. Have a look. No neighbor. No neighbor. No neighbor. There was vans here. And if you come down here, it’s Monday, by the way, so it’s probably leaving. Check out day. There’s only one van down there. Another one here. All that back section is all empty. So, it’ll be interesting to see who comes here later. The temperature is beautiful. The sun is uh the sun is out. The temperature is must be 28 or something like that. Look at the size of these fish down here in the stream today. Don’t if you can see him there. There’s a really big one just now coming into view in the bottom right hand corner. I don’t know what they are. If you do know there go look at him. If you do know, let me know in the comments below. Not a fish person, but it’s still fascinating to see nature. This is the or whatever is the river uh through Milo. I pronounced that completely wrong cuz I can’t remember, but I know it begins with a D. It’s the river Tan, David. And that begins with a T. So, first word that I thought it sounded like. Are we ready, boys and girls? Yeah. Yeah. You ready to go? Yeah. Let’s go. So, we’re going to walk into Malaw and uh do some shopping cuz hopefully all the shops open today. It’s Monday. It’s about 11:00 a.m. So, who knows? We might just get to uh what’s it called again? Siesta time as soon as we go there. I’ve watched a really funny Tik Tok video about that. We’re probably good pretty good in the UK because we can shop pretty much every day of the week most times. But they have a break here which is cool cuz it gets so hot. I can imagine it’s uh nice to have a bit of a chill sometimes. Some places like 3 hours 3 hours with the campsite was about 3 hours siesta gap anyway before opening and closing again. So I noticed people come out here a lot later as well. which I can understand cuz the heat the hang gliders haven’t started yet. The skies are pretty clear. There was tons yesterday as we head back from town. I spoke too soon. One’s just come over the brow of the hill. You just see them disappearing now. Looks like they go over our campsite cuz they come really low and then I guess they land there. There’s like flags in the distance. I don’t know if you can see them. I wonder how many English people in France don’t realize the other person’s English because all we do is say bonjour to each other. I swear I’ve met loads of British people and you can kind of tell by the way they pronounce it poorly like us and uh we say bonjour but actually they’re British and we’re British so it’s funny boys and nearly asleep. It’s about time for them to have like a little nap. have been struggling to go to bed on time here. We’re a little bit out of sync, a little bit out of routine. We’re doing things like swimming and activities every day. So, they’re either really knackered and overt tired, shattered and over tired, or they’ve had to sleep at some silly part of the day. But, it doesn’t matter cuz we’re on holiday and they’re having fun and we’re having fun. So, we made it to the shopping center. It’s called It’s Capel. Up we go. So, we’ve come for lunch indoors cuz they got aircom and it’s hot at almost like an American style bar just on the square where the shop is. Went for a walk around town. Um, didn’t really find anywhere that we wanted to sit and eat, but this looked like it did everything from burgers through to pizzas and pastas. So, uh, win-win. Careful. Cheers. Cheers. Yummy. So, really, really good meal here. Uh the young lady behind the bar uh knew where we were going to or the area and she spoke really good English, so she’s recommended a campsite for us on part for night. So, thank you for being great. If you’re in Milo and you want like a nice almost American style bar to eat at with great service, then check this place out. Yeah, they really tried to make an effort to speak to us England English. Um, which I thought was really nice and the food was great and it was good value, you know, and for someone to make the extra effort to actually try and talk to us is always pleasant as well. So, thank you. We’ll see you again. Having breakfast, boys? Yeah. Yeah. What you got? Cereals. This is the life, huh? That’s a candle. It’s Tuesday. The sun is shining. It’s about 9:00. Have a nice little laying. We’re going to have a coffee, which Becky’s kindly made. And uh the boys are having their breakfast. And then what we having for breakfast? Bacon and eggs. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. They don’t do actual bacon here unless you probably go to a butcher. So you have to buy a little lardon. So we got that mixed in with scrambled eggs, I think, which will be nice. So uh yeah, let’s get started for the day. And anything planned for today, Becky? Should we go see what’s local? Fun. swimming fun. Thought we could see if we can find a zoo or something locally. Yeah. Yeah. Might go to the zoo or something locally. Who knows? We could check old googs for that. Drinky drinky drinky. We got our own merch just for us to use. Right back into Malo. We’re going to do some exploring. Our neighbors are leaving, which means we’ve got a huge pitch to ourselves now. Well, until someone else arrives. I’ll quickly show you the the shop area which is next to the kids play kids club and the bins which seem to be absolutely overloaded sadly. So you got the kids club, the shop and then your motor home service point which I’ll just remind you isn’t on the map but you just come through here. So you got water. I don’t know if you can just use this and don’t use it. It looks like you could. Um and then you got your your bins for combusting and then your main bins. I don’t think they’ve got the same issues as Birmingham. But, uh, I assume it’s just waiting for collection day cuz it’s not been like that since we’ve been here. They put the kids play park in the shade, which is really decent cuz it can get so hot. Becky’s looking very summery and hot today, ain’t you? Hot mama seater. Got the kids jump arena there. Basketball courts, table tennis, and balls. Must be missing a thing with table tennis cuz it seems to be on every campsite in Europe, doesn’t it? It’s a big thing. Maybe we we’re missing a trick. Need to learn. We need to learn the ping pong. So, according to Wikipedia, Balo is known for its glove trade. There’s actually I don’t know how you pronounce it, Co Gantia. Um, as you come in, there’s lots of shops selling like premium gloves. Let me show you. I don’t know if you’ve heard of this brand before, but they look very, very swish. And there must be a little museum in here as well. Look, manufacturer here. You can see down here this maybe this is head office. And then down I spotted this yesterday, but in the middle here it looks like a steam furnace. We’ll go down to it now. It’s a very prestigious looking building. Very cool. And it looks like a furnace just here. Looks like a steam train, but like a big old furnace. If you know what that is, I don’t. Let me know in the comments below. shopping center and a whole avenue full of tacos. Just bumbling around the back alleys of Milo. You spot beautiful buildings like this hotel of the uh district. It’s a historic monument. Malaw isn’t just about nature and rivers. It’s packed with history, too. From medieval alleyways to beautiful Aglles NRAM Deles Beness, a church dating back to the 12th century. There’s plenty to admire. You’ll also spot remnants of the old city walls and historic bell towers dot around town. Milo is best known for its Roman roots and even has a museum showcasing ancient pottery for which the area was once famous. It’s a great town to just wander and soak it all in. The boys are asleep and Becky and I a bit naughty and we’ve ordered a just eat pizza or Uber Eats. Check this out. It’s 9:00. We’ve managed to get the boys to sleep for once. So, Becky and I have ordered a cheeky Uber Eats pizza. Kind of feeling peckish after our swim. Check up the boys, though. Looking all cozy with the fan on. We also got one of these candles to stop the mosquitoes. I don’t know if they work or not. Let me know if uh you’ve had any joy with these. Let’s go get our pizza. The side’s quite quiet still. There’s not as many people here as what there was. So maybe it’s tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow it’s turn up day cuz when we got here on the Thursday it was quite busy. Pizza. Pizza has arrived. Got quite quick. See if it’s any good though. Can’t what we ordered. But yummy yummy. I think we got breakfast sorted too. There’s a lot here. So, we’ve uh possibly skipped ahead to Wednesday cuz it’s been a bit of a blur. Um for the right reasons. I’ve just done the uh legendary superhero job of emptying the uh Zetford toilet cassette. Uh it’s probably about the third time. We actually really rarely ever use the on-site facilities, but bug us for it. I guess it’s like home from home. So, you got your home comforts. Um so, yeah, a glorious job of emptying the Elsan. It’s done. It’s weird. It’s here. It’s quite open, so you got people washing up right next to where you’re emptying the toilet, which I find a little bit odd, but I have no shame. So, it doesn’t matter. Uh let me know if in the comments if you’re that person that has to do the uh the That Theford toilet cassette run. Uh and if you’ve got a princess on board with you that won’t touch it. When I’m referring to the princess on board, I’m talking about that young lady there. Does a great job of filling it. does a really bad job of emptying it. Boys are asleep. No shame here. It’s hot. Check out the short side you have to wear in France. It’s 30 uh 32° 32°. It’s meant to be 26 tomorrow, which is when that will be so nice. But then we’re departing further south. And it’s definitely 35 down there. Yeah. I thought I was getting acclimatized, but yesterday and today I’ve not coped very well, have I? I just want to flake out, but it’s too hot to flake out. But it’s lovely. I shouldn’t complain. We’re now going for a little dip in the stream while the boys are sleeping. They got the right idea. The kids are fast asleep in the pushed air, so I’m sneaking in for a quick dip in the river while Becky chills in the shade on the fake grass. Peaceful, refreshing, and all part of the campsite life in Milo. He’s in. It’s cooler today. That’s cooler today before we’re in. And this as far as I’ll go. Look what we found. We found treasure on the floor down there. Found the best treasure. Yes. Nicely cooling in the sun, Daddy. Makes no sense. In the water, though. Kind of. Cold. Just boiling the drinks. Oh, it is cold. Quite nice on your toes. Quite nice on the old toesies. Just think of any sharks or anything down there. Oh yeah, I see one. So, we have decided to put our awning in because we’ve just checked the weather and there’s severe weather warnings, thunderstorms, and warning of damage to life and damage to property. So, we’ve learned our lesson from last time we were in France and having to pack everything away within 30 seconds. So, we’re putting the awning away and we were packing up tonight anyway to be honest because we’re heading to Les Meds tomorrow. So, we just had to put the awning in a bit earlier. I say we David is doing it. Might not be anything to worry about, but the wind’s been a bit high today. Not that it’s affected us. It’s actually been quite nice, but it’s just not worth risking it. We had that at that lacier site and it came out of nowhere like a rocket. So, um, yeah, pack away the awning. The rest can be replaced. So, uh, anyway, ready for tomorrow. Now, some of the facilities, you’ve got a whole baby section for kids to change and wash, nappy change. You got a outdoor wash up, your showers. Then you got your lingerette on site, which takes jetons tokens. Boys, you ready to go swimming? You going swimming? Yeah. Yeah. What have you got? Three cats. Oh yeah. Count them then. One. One. Two. Two. There’s one there. Is it? What’s there? Yeah. Fish. What’s there? Fish. Well done, baby. Well done. Here comes Sunny. Come on, Sunny. Swim. Swim. Swim. You’re swimming. Go, go, go. [Music] Armbands the future. Swimming pool done. No storm yet. Overcast, windy. And watch this. And Sunny, look for everyone. Show everyone how you bounce. No. Brill. Here comes Elijah. Go on then, son. Elijah, come do some bouncing. You got to show him how to bounce. You’re meant to be the professional. So, we are about to leave the campsite Sanda and we’re going to head about an hour and a half south uh to Beach Garden, which going to be early for us. We’re going to find an air just to pitch up in for a bit, have some chill time, and uh we’ll catch you there. Beach Garden, here we come. Yay. So, we’re leaving Malo behind and heading further south to Marai and Plage for our next stop at the Beach Garden campsite. It’s been a wild ride so far. From battling satnavs to river dips, elevator escapes, and of course, spotting that wild boar casually bathing on the riverbank. This journey just keeps surprising us, and there’s plenty more to come. Can I ask why do you pull you wipers up?
Can you tell me how many amps is the power supply in the campgrounds? Is it enough to run the air-conditioner in a van if installed? Guessing the 6amps in an Aire is not enough. Stu
I'm a solo camper so all the jobs are mine. No problem as I'm not a princess like my daughter is🤗

I am the thetford lord whenever we go away too! Like yourselves we prefer to have the creature comforts of home in our motorhome. On a separate note, we have just bought a new Pilote almost identical to yours. Can’t wait to pick it up now after watching your vids.
