Spend A Week With Us In Sorrento | Italy
[Music] [Music] Hey. [Music] Hey guys, hope you’re all okay. Welcome back to our YouTube channel and our new series, Italy. So, we are currently at Manchester airport for a week in Italy. We are flying to Temples, but we are going to spend a whole week in Sento. My sister’s wedding. So, she gets married halfway through the holiday. So, we’re going to travel a few different areas that we’ve picked out around Sarrento to show you what you can do around the area. [Music] Oh no. [Music] Hey. Hey. [Music] managed to get on the bus. Next stop, Sarrento. [Music] [Music] After stopping off for a quick drink with family in Sarrento, we checked into our Airbnb. This one worked a little differently than other Airbnbs as it offered a free shuttle bus to the property. It’s situated down a very narrow lane which isn’t accessible with a regulariz car and so they offer the shuttle service to make your stay more enjoyable. After checking in, we went to the supermarket for some food and had a very peaceful night and we’re ready for a big day of traveling tomorrow. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Good morning. Morning. So, first full day here and today we are heading out to Capri. So, we’re going to get the ferry from Sarrento and we’re going to head over. We did pre-book our tickets. Don’t think you have to, but then you might miss out. So, we’re going to head over now. Now, I don’t think the ferry is very long. And then we’re going to spend the day on the island of Kapoor. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] So, it is a 15-minute walk from the pata to the Vilitis. It’s a loop to Vilis around to Vravis and the Tiberius lookout. So all these spots are on the Capri side of the island and Capri side is all pedestrianized. So you’ll have to walk everywhere. Uh the paths are very narrow. Well, they’re classed as roads, but not really a road at all. On this side, we do also have the natural arch. And then the other side of the island is the Anacapri part of the island. And for that, you can get around by either bus or taxi. So, we’ll show you that side a bit later on. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Between Villais and Villa Ovis, there is a 20-minute walk through the trees. It is It’s a little bit difficult to rain, so you may need walking shoes for this part. I’m wearing flip flops and George is wearing nice trainers. Slightly underprepared for this part, but hopefully we’re nearly there. It’s very up and down. So, it’s tiring in this heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] We are just sat in park asterita now just down from Villa Davis. Villa Davis is a lot of ruins and you have the Tiberia sleep within that as well. I’d plan two days if you want to do the full island and do it well. We’ve given everything a go on the Capri side that we wanted to do. There’s four major things and they are quite close together. Park was a bit of an added bonus. We didn’t really know this was here. So, there’s a few different viewpoints and lookouts here that we are enjoying and then we are going to go and walk down to the natural arch. So, that is about half an hour walk back towards Capri. [Music] So, we’re all done at the natural arch. It’s a bit of a climb down, but it’s very worth it. The arch is beautiful. You can make it out from different spots on the way down. We stopped at probably the highest point. You can meander further for different angles, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. We’re at this time. But that is us all done for today’s explorations. We’re just going to head back to Capri and get the cable car down. [Music] So, very quick turn around. We’ve come back from Capri, showered and ran out the door. We are going to go and meet some of George’s family for a meal tonight in Sar. [Music] We enjoyed a lovely meal just off the Patza Taso, which turned out to be the best lasagna that Beex had had the whole trip. After that, we walked down to Corso Italia to go and get some more gelato. Yes, this was our second of the day. However, when in Italy, we heard that Raki was the best place in STO for gelato, and so it’ be rude not to try it. Then, when our feet could take no more, we got our shuttle back up to the Airbnb. You can see just how narrow the roads are here. In the daytime, they honk to let on comers know that they are coming around the bend. They don’t at all slow down. [Music] Hey guys. So, we are on our second full day now and we’ve just been dropped off in the Sento Patza and we’re wandering now to the pickup point for our day exploring Mount Vuvius and Pompei. [Music] Just at the bus station waiting for our bus to come and collect. We have to our guide for the day and she has kind of checked us in but the bus is running a little bit late. [Music] So, we’ve just done at the studio and we are heading up now. So, they brings you 1,000 m up on the bus and then you walk 281 m the rest of the way. So, we’re just heading up now. We’re going very slowly on a cloud. Broken toes in multiple angles, but the views shore of Naples is absolutely stunning. And if you’re hungry, we’ve also spotted two pizzeras on the way up that are actually on the series themselves. [Music] The crater as well at the top is 300 m deep and about 600 m wide. So you do get to look in it and apparently you can see snow coming out. You see lava, smoke is normal. See lava, that’s when it’s running tight. Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Heat. [Music] Hey, heat. Hey, heat. [Music] Hey guys. So, we’re just on our way back down from the summit now. There are multiple vantage points to see the summit from the top. There’s actual shops as well to get some merchandise, which I didn’t think would be possible on top of the volcano. It’s not too bad of a walk. And then the it’s a little bit uneven, but it’s okay. And there’s lots of different areas where you can see the crater and the surrounding area. Yeah, the viewpoints off the volcano are spectacular as well as look into the crater. [Music] [Music] Just arrived in Pompei. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] We’re just walking through the streets of Pompei. We have our tour guide with us and we are all learning about all the different things that are still here. There’s a lot that’s still here to be honest. The thing for me was I didn’t realize it wasn’t here. It was ash which was really interesting. We’ve seen lots of different things like kitchens and pizza ovens. We’ve seen jacuzzi’s, we’ve seen brothel. We just said you need 2 or 3 days to see the whole thing because there’s just so much [Music] Italian tradition, finish off any excursion with gelatin. That has become the tradition. We’re all done in Pompei and we’re going to enjoy our gelatte before we get on the bus and head back to So, all ready. We’re out for the evening. We’re just going to go and meet the family for some drinks at our club. [Music] Hi guys. Hello. So today is our third day in Sarrento and today is the day of Georgia’s sister’s wedding. So we have the wedding this afternoon and we have this morning to chill. So, we decided to spend the day at the Airbnb and enjoy the pool. There is a hot tub, but honestly, it’s far too hot for lunch. Bacon. Absolutely not. So, we are just going to chill around here today. So, we’ll show you a bit of the pool area. I don’t think you’ve seen that yet. And then we’re going to get ready here and go down to Sarrento where the wedding is going to be held. So, very exciting day. We’re going to try and show you a bit of the wedding because the location that it’s in is the Hotel Royal which is on the clifftop of Sarrento overlooking the ocean. So, it’s beautiful. The hotel is gorgeous. So, we’ll try and show you bits, but we are going to have a semi- switched off day and just be with family and enjoy the wedding. [Music] We’re here. Got 15 minutes to the ceremony. So, we need to go and bag our seats. So, I’m ready to do my uh [Music] [Music] [Music] Hi guys. Hello. So, just back in from the wedding. It is midnight, so we’ve done pretty well. And we’ve had such a lovely day. The wedding was perfect. Went off without a hitch. And it’s been really, really special. So, that is us all done for tonight. And then we as we were running out the door for the wedding, we booked another trip to Capri for tomorrow. So, we’ll see you then. Good morning. Morning. Today, today is day 4 and we are heading back to Capri. We are up and at it early again this morning so that we can get over to Capri and spend the day there finishing off everything that we wanted to do. So last time we did the Capri side of the island. This time we’re going to do the Anakapri side. So we are aiming to do the chair lift and go to the very top for the gorgeous viewpoints. And there’s a few other bits and bobs we want to show you as well. [Music] [Music] Oh. [Music] Wonderful. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] So at the very top of the chair lift you have a lovely restaurant and beastro. So we’ve just stopped there and had a drink and you can see all across Capri and Sarrento and out to the ocean. It is absolutely gorgeous. It is breathtaking and especially on a clear day as well with full 360°ree views. You feel like you’re on top of the world. Heat. Heat. [Music] Take me. [Music] Show me. Yeah. So, [Music] so we have just made very last minute plans for George’s family to buy tea. So, we are heading back into Sarrento Center and we’re going to go somewhere anywhere and we have made minor effort tonight due to the late notice. However, I am wearing Italian lace. I’m wearing Primal Coffee. [Music] Yeah. Heat. [Music] Hey guys, so we are on day five I believe and today we are exploring the gorgeous city of Sento. So we have been staying in Sarrento but not exploring it. We’ve been very busy exploring everywhere else. So we’re really looking forward to exploring the area we’ve actually been living for the last few days. So, we have wandered through Sarrento at high speeds various different days to get to different excursions and go out for different meals. And on then we have seen beautiful little hot spots we do want to try and explore in further detail which we’re going to do today. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] One of the beautiful things about Sarrento is the little alleyways and the gorgeous little shops. So, we’re going to spend a little bit of time today exploring those. [Music] Hey guys. So this is the piaza and it’s the central point for Sarrento. Very busy at all times if you couldn’t already tell. Lots of shops and lots of beaches around as well. [Music] Heat. Hey, Heat. [Music] So we just visited the Basilica San Antonio which is a gorgeous basilica hidden in the middle of Sarrento just one of the many beautiful churches here and now we are at the monastery which is again beautiful it’s very very hidden away tucked away in the corner we’ve walked past it so many times but it’s definitely worth stopping here and coming and having a little look yeah you will pass them on the way down to the marina if you’re getting boat tours to Capri and other like the Amalfi post and things like that. Where we currently are now is right by the I love Sarrento sign uh that spray painted on the wall just in case you miss it. [Music] [Music] Just around the corner from the monastery, there also is, which you can just see behind me, the viewpoint, which is probably one of The best viewpoints of the STO coastline and Vuvius as a backdrop. If you want to go down there from the top of the cliff, there is a lift which is €120 one way, 240. If you want to come back up, just save your legs as it is a bit of a climb. The climb is an experience in itself though as you do go through the caves and it is beautiful. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] This is the bottom of Sarrento. There is a little square here. There is some beach clothes restaurants. There’s a few little shops. There’s lots of nice things to do down here, but this is the best place to access the exit. [Music] And the last stop of the day is of course for gelato. [Music] So, that is us all done for the day. We’re going to go head back to our Airbnb now and get ready for the evening. All bandmed up, ready for an evening meal. And it’s date night. Vex doesn’t know where we’re going. So, this one’s a surprise. You’re going to find out where. [Music] I will be alone. [Music] Hi guys. Hello. We have just been for our meal and come back up to our Airbnb. We’re going to spend the rest of the night in the hot tub. And that is all for today. [Music] Good morning guys. Morning. So today is day six here in Italy and we are heading to the Amalfi Coast today. So today we are meeting my family and having a tour by boat. So, we’re currently at the Pyata behind me and we are about to go meet family and go down to harbor to get our little yacht [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Just arrived for our 1 hour drop off in MLP. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Hey. Our [Music] hour in the mouth is done. So, we’re now heading back to the boat. [Music] Oh, [Music] and now we’ve We’ve arrived at our second location of Kasatano. So, we’re going to spend about 2 hours here exploring before we head back on the boat. [Music] Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music] [Music] drinking your life. What you drinking? What you drinking? [Music] What you drinking? What’s your life? What you drinking? What you drinking? You [Music] What you drinking? What’s your life? What you drinking? What you drinking? [Music] What you drinking? What’s your life? What you drinking? What you drinking? [Music] So that is us all done in the Amalfi Coast. We had the most amazing day on the boat exploring and we highly recommend it to anyone who wants to do the Amalfi Coast and doesn’t have to do it. So our last night in Sarrento and we are just heading into the main square to go and get some food for the night. [Music] Okay. Okay. [Music] We just tried to find somewhere for drinks and one place that we have continuously walked past and wondered what on earth it is is the Excelsia Hotel and that is because it’s on the main piaza and it’s a long driveway which is completely green and looks very luscious. It’s gorgeous. So, we decided to wander down it tonight and figure out what it is. And it’s the Hotel Excelsia, which we didn’t know. So, we tried to go for drinks, but because we’re not guests of the hotel, they said we had a €25 per person minimum spend, which would be fine, but we had to do that within half an hour because of when the bar shuts. So, because we don’t drink, we’re on soft drinks. That would have been very difficult to do. You never know. Coke zero in there. Could have been €50. You never know. So, unfortunately, that one didn’t work out, but it was a very lovely setting to see for all of 5 minutes. So, now we’re going to head and try and find somewhere else to end the night. [Music] That is us all finished up for the evening. We did manage to find a bar on Katza Tassel to stop for drinks and do some good people watching. So that is the last stop off before we head back see our Airbnb now and the end of our last full day in Sarrento. Hi guys. Hello. So it is our last day here in Sarrento. We have kind of half a day here today before our flight. So we are still at the Airbnb now. Just woke up. We are having a cuper in the garden and having a very slow morning before we check out at 10:00 a.m. And we are just finishing our final packing. Making sure we’ve got some watering things for the day because we are going to go and head back into Sarrento and just enjoy it for a couple of hours before we have to head to the airport. So, if you couldn’t already tell from the grumbles, the weather has turned as well. So, we’ve had glorious clear skies the whole week and now the temperatures dropped and it looks like the heavens are about to open. So, we couldn’t have picked a more perfect day to leave. Final farewells in order and the rain’s just started as us. Let’s take it all then for one last time before we head to the airport. [Music] Heat. Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music] That’s all from us. Thank you guys for watching and we’ll see you very soon for the next one. [Music]
Hey everyone! Welcome to our brand new Eighth Series! This time we will be exploring the beautiful country of Italy. For Episode 1 we will be sharing how we spent a week on the Sorrento Peninsula.
For day 1 we hopped on a ferry and explored the Island of Capri. This scenic island is beautiful. We started the day by heading straight up the funicolare and walked over to Villa Lysis before exploring Villa Jovis and Tiberius Lookout. Both these Villas offer incredible views of mainland Italy and Capri. From there we headed to the Natural Arch before finishing off the day with Becks first Italian Gelato.
Day 2 we booked on to a day tour to Mount Vesuvius Summit and Pompeii. This was really interesting to learn about the history of both the volcano and the lost city. Our tour dropped us 1km up the volcano so we had a short, albeit, steep ascent to the summit. The views at the top were breath-taking of the crater and the Gulf of Naples below.
We actually visited Italy because George’s sister was getting married which fell on our third day. After enjoying our Airbnb and all its facilities in the morning we got ready and enjoyed the beautiful wedding in an idyllic spot at the Grand Royal Hotel on the cliffs overlooking Mount Vesuvius. It truly was a special day.
For our fourth day we went back to Capri to explore the Anacapri side of the island. We found that in order to do the island justice you need longer than one day, so we headed straight up to the chairlift for the lookout at Monte Solaro overlooking Anacapri. This island is such a special place with the roads being a spectacle in themselves as they are incredibly narrow along the cliffs.
Day 5 had us exploring the beautiful coastal town of Sorrento. Lined with cobbled street, quaint cafes and eateries on every corner along with gorgeous basilicas. You cant get more traditionally Italian than Sorrento. For our first stop of the day we had breakfast along the Corso Italia while taking in our surroundings. After we fuelled up for the morning, we headed down the back streets to check out the stunning Basilica Sant’Antonio & the Chiostro di San Francesco monastery. After a day of exploring we headed back to get changed before George surprised me with a meal at The Garden.
For our sixth and final day in this slice of paradise we ended it with a boat trip to the Amalfi Coast & Positano. We hired a small yacht that departed from the Porto di Sorrento at 8:15am and headed around the peninsula and up to Amalfi. As well as exploring these hidden gems we also got to swim in the Tyrrhenian sea. The water was so clear you could see the sea bed and the blue fish swimming below you.
We truly loved our trip to Italy and are already planning our next trip there.
Let us know what you think!
