Old Belgian Bus Ride Experience & Vintage Transit Vehicles in Motion

I’m not sure that He’s a miss. [Music] What do you want? Hello everyone and welcome to the Transat Nomad family. In this video, we continue exploring Brussels Bourbon Transport Museum, also known as Brussels Trim Museum. We are about to get off this awesome old school vintage trimm and transfer to that cool looking bus to go for another ride. Before we get started, I’d like to let you know that I’m in Belgium for a couple of weeks. And at the end of this trip, I’ll be recording my final verdict video comparing Belgium with other countries to help you decide if you should visit while also saving you lots of time and money with practical tips on how to get the most out of your trip. This will be an exclusive video, but you can easily gain access to it by subscribing or donating any amount on buy me a coffee.com/transit nomad or through the link in the video description below. With that being said, let’s enjoy this awesome ride. [Music] [Music] [Music] What do you News and bridge. All right, let’s see if we can get the best seats. Wow. You don’t get to ride buses like this every day. As I was saying in my other videos, you can still kind of catch some vintage trams here and there in other places, but you don’t get to ride old school buses like this. They do not operate on any city lines that I know of anywhere in the world. So many awesome vintage transit vehicles to choose from here. Definitely this museum is a must visit destination for those who are in the Brussels area or in Belgium. Belgium is kind of a small country so you can you can certainly cover this place if you are staying here for a few days. I love these comfortable leather seats. Also bright orange color. I love bright colors and I really feel so sad why they don’t make seats as comfortable as they used to make them back in the day. I’m not sure if it’s because of saving money or maybe there are other reasons. If you know, please let me know in the comment section below. But I do feel that these seats are a lot more comfortable than uh the seats on newer transit vehicles that are operating these days in different cities across the globe. [Music] Let’s take a look at the driver’s seat area while we are waiting for the driver to come back and give us a ride. Most uh information signs are in other languages, not in English since we are in Belgium. So, unfortunately, I don’t understand what most of the stuff means. But this bus right here, you can see the information. I’ll zoom it in a little bit. It’s Vanhole 409 AU-98660. Um, and it looks like it was in service from 1973 until 1995. And right now it’s 2025. So, the last time you had a chance to ride this kind of bus in regular city service was uh 30 years ago. And it was manufactured uh in 1973. This bus should be departing just about now. We were giving given a schedule actually when we entered the museum and it says that it’s supposed to leave at 1452 which is actually right now Looks like we’re about to depart. Have some more passengers coming. That’s great. I don’t want to be lonely here. Hello. Hi. So excited. Yes. I love this bus. Love this bus. This bus is from Belgium. The from the company van between Brussels and Anor. Uh-huh. The was in it was in bankrupt last year. Oh. Uh-huh. for history families and some strateg. Mhm. This bus is on 1973. Mhm. Also on for the for the infrastructure and the super structure and Fiat. I see. And we wrote up to 1995. Mhm. In Brussels in Brussels. And it was restored in 19 in 1996. I see. Okay. And the engine is original. Maybe maybe the chassis is original. I see. Is the genuine 80 uh 8660. I see. And it was manufactured here in Belgium between Brussels and Okay. Great. We are going to Placu and return. Nice. Thank you. Very nice. We’re going to have the whole bus to ourselves. Thank you. [Music] Sorry. Jesus. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Nice. Let’s see what it feels like sitting in the back of this bus. It is a bus. You can also hear the engine back better back here. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat up Heat up here. Oh, a tram is passing us. How cool is that? A tram is passing the bus. [Music] Don’t see that every day. And now we are passing the tram. Bye-bye train. [Music] Heat up here. Mhm. No, you only have to buy Yeah, you have to buy the ticket and only come from the museum back to the museum. So, some people might feel curious, but they cannot get in. [Music] And that is actually one thing they could have done better if they wanted to. Maybe they could let people in just randomly in the street and charging them um some kind of extra fee if they wanted to ride this kind of stuff. I think that would be better. They can make more money. Yeah. Yeah. Let me try also this seat. Every seat is different. It’s interesting that of course there’s no air conditioning, but also they only have these uh little vents for air and Other than that, you cannot really open the windows except for the two windows in the back of the bus. So, it does get pretty hot here, especially in a hot day. Heat up here. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. You curious about you have to go all the way back to Yeah, you have to go all the way back because they have to follow the schedule. Take a chance. Maybe. Yeah, but usually it wouldn’t be worth it because you paid to ride different kinds of trams and buses. And if you get off here, then you have to come back to the museum later and you’ll miss out on something. Maybe you missed another bus and missed another swim. So, if you want to go sightseeing, it’s kind of like a separate thing. But yeah, this arch looks pretty cool to to get off and look at it, right? It’s very impressive. Looks like we might be turning around somewhere soon. Yeah, this arch is very impressive. They want to get in, but they can’t. Yeah, a lot of people outside, they are curious. They want to get in, but they can’t. I feel a little bit sad for them because I mean I’m pretty sure a lot of these people would be happy to pay a little extra to ride this old bus. But you can only board it at the museum, I believe. Maybe there is a reason why they decided to do it that way, but I’m not sure why. When we were riding the train, somebody was asking to get in and the the conductor did not let the person to get in even though they were willing to go. Yeah, maybe they didn’t want to pay extra. Heat. Heat. I feel this city is so green. Lots of trees everywhere. building. Yeah. So, you can see the city too a little bit. How many? Um, I’m not sure exactly, but it looked like there were at least three of them, maybe more. You want to come back again tomorrow? Yeah, the seats are definitely way more comfortable than on modern buses and modern trains. Yep. Heat. Heat. [Music] Did you like that sound? [Music] Nice green area for people to play in the heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Can hear that engine in the back. Heat. Heat. So, this is the only window that opens here. That’s the only one basically. Other than that, that’s it. It’s hot. And of course, the top part also, they have these little openings. But right now, it’s 30° in Belgium, so it certainly is warm inside the bus. Although, it’s better than inside London buses cuz at London buses, the air conditioning is so weak. But uh they don’t have any openings at all for the most part. So the air conditioning is very weak. It’s barely working or it’s not working at all. And there’s no way to open the windows. So the air is not flowing except for the moment when the driver opens the doors, which is not enough. So when it gets hot in London, it’s really hot inside the buses. what they do in Thailand when the weather is hot and buses don’t have air conditioning, they they just open all the windows. They have a lot of um ways to open different windows and then it’s not that hot anymore when the air is blowing. Even on a hot day, it feels a lot more comfortable. But I guess here it also gets really cold during winter time. So that’s why they try to make the buses warm rather than cold. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat.
