Welcome to the highest ski area in France, Les 2 Alpes, at an altitude of up to 3,600 meters. In this video, we show you the ski area, the various slopes, the newest cable cars, the huge snow park, and at the end, we reveal who skiing here is particularly worthwhile for. Let’s go. Wow! The sun is shining and we’ve caught a dream day to present to you this special ski area in the French Alps. We’re here in Les 2 Alpes at the start of the season and we’re asking you: Who of you has already been here in the area, has had some experiences and can share them with us in the comments below? That will help us get a good overview. And now, first of all, we’re going up to the highest point of the ski area, 3,600
meters, and with the weather today, we’ll even see Mont Blanc. We’ll be going up on a special cable car, the newly built 3S Gendry cable car. Let’s take it and come up with us. An enormous structure has been built here with three stations. The cable car takes you from the valley to 3,200 meters above sea level in 17 minutes, via seven towers on a 3S-guided cable car. So it’s really quite modern and special. By comparison, the cable car from 1985 took 40 minutes to reach this point. And now it’s off to skiing. Look at these wide glacier slopes here. This morning we really let it rip, just like we did just now. Perfect carving turns, not too steep, but incredibly grippy. And here you can simply make your turns with the best panorama, just like we are right now. And up here, at the very latest, the air becomes noticeably thinner. For me, this is the second highest point I’ve ever been to in my life. And the mountain ranges that surround us are simply enormous. And this is exactly where we want to get an overview of the Lönesalp ski area. We’re talking about the largest glacier ski area in Europe and the highest ski area in France. The altitude ranges from 1,300 meters in the valley to 3,600 meters up here, giving you a vertical drop of 2,300 meters, which you can ski all the way down to the valley. Very, very impressive. The ski area has 220 kilometers of slopes and is considered particularly snow-sure, as 75% of these slopes are at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. But that all sounds very superlative. In fact, beginners in particular will get their money’s worth here, as many slopes are marked blue, and there are many great practice slopes, especially down in the valley and up on the glacier, where you can make your first turns. But not only beginners, but also athletic skiers, especially freestylers, get their money’s worth in a large park, which we ‘ll take a closer look at in a moment. And free riders can even use a connection to Lagraff, the freeride mecca, or various routes here in the area. And for those who haven’t had their money’s worth, the Grand Galaxie ski pass network allows you to access a total of five ski areas, including Alpe Dues, with the L’Hôpital and Sarennes slopes. Always an experience. And especially special up here, of course, is the view. We are surrounded by a backdrop that couldn’t be more majestic. We look out towards Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe. And now it’s time for us to get back on our skis and head to the fun park. We’ll take a closer look. Here we are now really close to the glacier. You can really see the ice. A deep crevasse, eight meters wide, of course, with caution, but it’s truly admirable to see this ice here, how blue it is. And you can even ski through the ice, at your own risk, of course. Let’s do that one, two, three, drop. Wow. Wow. Yes, and at the end this opens up: a glacial cave. The ice has formed this arch here. Incredible. You can also go in. I’d rather not, because it doesn’t exactly hold up. And now we’re off to the ski area. The sun continues to spoil us and the De Salves snow park is one of the largest and most important in France. There are easy lines, but there are also big kickers and obstacles, a wall ride, a parallel slalom, and a border cross, so there’s quite a lot on offer. It’s the start of the season, but not everything is there yet. We drive through anyway and take a look. Okay, there’s quite a lot on offer, and you can also sit in the sun on deckchairs. And speaking of sun, now it’s time for something to eat. We’re checking out one of the seven restaurants up here on the mountain. So, of course, there’s everything, from tartiflet to racklett to other local dishes, but probably also burgers and the like . Let’s take a look. Okay. Everything’s ready. We’ve got a tartiflet, then a cruziflet, I think, and one other dish. In any case, all local dishes were recommended to us and people were very friendly and polite. They helped us a lot here and now it’s time to eat and fortify ourselves. Tatie Flat, cheese, potatoes, that’s something. Enjoy your meal, guys. Well fortified. Now it’s off for another ride and then we’ll see you later down in town for apri-ski and I’ll take you to L’Hôtesal. The day of skiing is over and I’m taking you to the town here in Lüdesalp. There are a total of 70 different bars and restaurants for après-ski. We definitely have that here too. And also upscale restaurants. There’s raclette, tartiflet, of course, everything you’d expect in France, just like in the huts on the mountain. And what you can also see here is this two-kilometer-long road that makes up the town of L’Ordre-des-Alpes. As the name of the ski resort suggests, two almas have been connected, and now several accommodations, bars, restaurants, etc., and many sports shops have set up shop here. And that’s exactly how this winter sports resort came about. There are accommodations here in various price categories, although the majority are self-catering apartments, especially for groups. For example, we stayed at Udalys. I can recommend it, but it’s really very basic. The good thing about it is that it offers excellent value for money. And that’s really easy to find in L’Hôpitalp, just as in various other French ski resorts. And that brings us to the main question of this video: For whom , in my opinion, is skiing in L’Hôpitalp worthwhile ? And I would like to identify three groups. The first are beginners in skiing. Lots of blue pistes, lots of opportunities to learn to ski on blue pistes . Secondly, I would like to talk about groups in general, as groups have the opportunity to stay here, particularly in the larger apartments, for very good value for money. And thirdly, there are all those skiers among you who simply want to try something different to Austria, Switzerland or Italy, simply want to try a different approach and reach higher altitudes in a French ski resort than in any other French ski resort. Les Deux Alpes zählt zu den bekanntesten Skiorten in Frankreich – und das aus gutem Grund: Über 220 Pistenkilometer, davon rund 75 % über 2.000 Meter Seehöhe, machen das Gebiet nicht nur schneesicher, sondern auch unglaublich vielseitig. Vom breiten Gletscherhang auf 3.400 m bis zur 16 km langen Talabfahrt – hier ist für jeden etwas dabei. Freerider zieht es in die angrenzenden Hänge von La Grave, während Freestyler im riesigen Les 2 Alpes Snowpark auf ihre Kosten kommen.

Zwischendurch lohnt sich eine Pause in einem der 7 Bergrestaurants, bevor es weitergeht auf perfekt angelegten Pisten mit unglaublichem Panorama. Und wer nach dem Skitag noch Energie hat, findet im Ort über 70 Bars und Restaurants – das Après Ski in Les 2 Alpes ist legendär und trotzdem angenehm authentisch.
