Provence (part 1)

Hello and welcome back to Andian Tour. In September 2024, we have spent two weeks on holiday in Province, France. We have chosen Avenueong as a starting point for our excursions into the surrounding area. In addition to Avenue, we decided to visit the following places. Nim, Ponduga, Valos, Colorado Proal, Rosio, Gord, Liil, Tazorg, and Lei. On our way back home, we stopped off at the famous wine region of Armitage and used Tou as a base for our next excursions. Today we start with part one of my series and focus on Avenue and nearby VN Leavin with its four San Andre. Enjoy the show. Oh, some impressions of I’m in your Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Oh, heat. Hey. Hey. Heat. Heat. Who doesn’t know it? The much praised bridge of Aignon po Beni. It is one of the two landmarks of Aignon. Built in the 14th century, it has been in ruins since the 17th century. A city tour makes you really hungry. You can find all kind of food right here in the magnificent market hall. Heat. Heat. The other landmark of Ainon is a Apal palace. The seven popes and antipopes resided right here in Avenue from 1334 to 148, not in Rome. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. I don’t Ah, heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. In VN Leavin, which is located in the immediate vicinity of Avenue, you will find the four and the Abbey of Santre. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Oh yeah.

In September 2024 we’ve spent 2 weeks in the Provence in south of France. We used Avignon as our hub as we had found accommodation there. From there we made excursions on a daily base. Avignon has got two landmarks : the Pope’s palace and Pont Bénezet which most of the people in the world knows from children’s song “Sur le pont d’Avignon”.

Close to Avignon is Villeneuve-les-Avignon with its nice medieval fort and abbey of St.André.

Further excursions took us westerly to world famous roman aqueduct “Pont du Gard” and the city of Nimes with its famous roman arena.

East of Avignon we’ve found interesting places too : in the Colorado Provencale you can find ground in different shades of ocre (from yelloish to reddish). A pictoresc town with buildings coloured in ocre shades can be found on top of a hill : Roussillon – really worth to be visited !

Another beautiful village sitting on top of a hill is “Gordes”.

And just around the corner you find an abbey (“Notre dame de Sénanque”) which can be found on thousands of post cards – always surrounded by blooming lavender.

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a small town known for their channels and water wheels which once provided power for the craftsmen in town. Because of the many channels it was called “Venice of Comtat”.

Finally “Le Village des Bories” consist of a certain number of buildings from 17th and 18th century. They were made by farmers and were build only by using flat stones. No cement , no mortar has been used (reminds me of Trullis in Italy).

On our way back home we made a stopover in the famous wine region “Hermitage” in the Rhone Valley. Tournon-sur-Rhone , Tain l’Hermitage and Valence have been visited. A further must-do is a train ride with the “Train de l’Ardeche” along the river of Ardeche and beautiful landscape.

This video (part 1 of our journey) is focussing on Avignon and Villeneuve-les-Avignon only. The other spots will follow soon….
