We recently spent a few days at K'Gari – we figured it would be really busy so I found a badly reviewed campsite (Ungowa) and booked that as no one else had. We had it to ourselves so it was awesome and we got a nice sunset view too. It had some facilities including a sink and drop toilet. Thought we'd see dingos as it's unfenced here but we didn't see any. They do have a cage to store food in but we kept it in our car. This spot allows four tent set ups (and behind us, two camper trailers) so it would have been a bit cramped if we had to share though. Also I did get absolutely wrecked by midges but was still worth it. There were March flies too but they went to sleep at sunset 🙂 Temperature was fine, only 28C and not very humid.

We usually use swags for camping but decided to try out our gazebo with inner tent as we are trying different set ups for a 13 week trip next year to get the balance between comfort and light weight. It was pretty good as very spacious and protection from insects but not sure how robust it would be in bad weather. Also I just slept on top of a stretcher inside but it was uncomfortable and I feel I need a mattress too. My husband found it comfortable though.
