14 Reasons Why We Chose to Live in Da Nang Vietnam

[Music] Hey everyone, welcome back to another video. So,
a little bit different than our other videos and   more of an informational video for you
guys as to why we chose Da Nang. Yes, we have put together a list of our top 14 reasons
why we chose to live in Da Nang as a family. Uh, also with dogs, we have four Chihuahua. So, we had
to find the perfect place that was a good mix for us as a family with teenage boys and also places
that were pet friendly that we could find to live, of course, and the best balance of everything
for us as far as a place to stay long term. Yeah, exactly. And these aren’t in any specific
order. We just kind of put it together. I mean,   obviously, one of the first one’s going to be our
top pick, which we’re going to get into, but it’s just Yeah, in no necessary order as far as like
top reasons why. It’s just kind of the reasons   we came up with and reasons we chose here. Yeah,
there are a lot of reasons. So, we had to narrow it down. We could probably think of another 20 or
30, but we don’t want to bore you with that. So,   yeah, we came up with 14 that are very important
to us when it comes to a place that we’re going to settle down and call home long term. Yeah,
exactly. So, yeah, let’s get into the video. All right. So, number one is the perfect
balance of beach and city life. So, some of you know our past history. We lived in
Costa Rica for 7 years in an area called Playa Samara. We lived on the beach basically almost
every single day. And just having that type of beach life and being able to explore around a
tropical country with many beautiful beaches, that has been a big part of our life. So, we knew
that if we were going to settle somewhere over in   Southeast Asia, we were probably going to need a
beach eventually. So, after we left Costa Rica, we ended up in Bangkok, Thailand, we needed a big
city fix. Uh the beach town that we were from in   Costa Rica is very small. It’s beautiful,
but after being there for 7 years, we got a little bit bored. Our two boys became teenagers.
There wasn’t as much for them to do. So going to Bangkok and living there for a year before we
came to Vietnam was what we needed in order to   get a big city fix, go to some malls, uh movie
theaters, go-karts, bowling, all that kind of stuff that families love to do together. But after
living there and only having the river in Bangkok, which we could go and, you know, look at and it
was beautiful and we could sit by it and stuff,   we definitely needed a place with a beach and
we needed to get that ocean breeze again and some waves to play in and actually water that
we could swim in. So, we thought, you know,   when we go to Vietnam and we find a place that we
want to settle down long term for at least a year, if not probably more, uh, we need to have the
perfect mix of city life with amenities, lots of things to do, and a beautiful beach nearby. So,
yeah. And then that’s the thing. We didn’t really   realize that until we got to Bangkok, and we were
drawn to the river. We’re drawn to water. And then we did a couple trips to the islands, Pattaya,
Jomtien, Hua Hin, and we’re like realized, okay, yeah, we still need the beach. Yeah, we were
missing it. We’re like, okay, when when can we   go and leave Bangkok and go to another island or
somewhere near a beach? Yeah, exactly. But I mean, even 2 years ago when we first started planning
our move to Southeast Asia, Dong was our top   pick. We just wanted to go to Bangkok for that
big city fix. Also, just uh YouTube wise, wanted to create content there and stuff, but we just
knew like after 6 months that, you know, it was   enough’s enough. We ended up staying longer, but
we knew that Da Nang was going to be the spot just because of that city beach life as well as there’s
modern and traditional here as well. So, you get a mix of like the modern buildings and the modern
restaurants and stuff like that, but then you can   go down the street and get a coffee in a little
traditional coffee shop in a old traditional building. That’s a great thing. It’s amazing the
the and the European architecture here mixed with the Vietnamese charm and everything like that. So
depending on what type of environment you want to   be in that day. If you want to do something in
a modern area or you want to do something really really traditional with the locals, you have
options and everything’s really close. Yeah, you   guys are going to see for us that’s really great.
Yeah, see that in our videos coming up where we we go to both sides of the city and different
areas of the city also beach and riverside. So   that’s the great thing. So yeah, that’s basically
our number one reason why we chose Da Nang is beach and city. So exactly what we needed.
So yeah, let’s get into the next one. All right. So, the next big thing for us was just
the natural beauty. Coming from Costa Rica and   British Columbia before that in Canada, we just
love nature. Whether it’s mountains, the trees, the lakes, the ocean, no matter what it is,
we just love having that nearby so that we can   escape the city and then go to those places as
well. And it’s really easy here in Da Nang. You have the mountains nearby. You can go up to like
the mountains here in Son Tra Peninsula and just   hike around there. You’ve got the beach, you’ve
got um Yeah, there’s even like uh lakes nearby if you want to do that. There’s camping if you want
to do that stuff as well. Islands. Exactly. So,   there’s a good mix of all the nature and beauty
around here. Not to mention historic cities. So, you got Hoi An to the south, which we’ve done
videos on. You guys have seen that already.   Yeah. Such an amazing place. We can’t wait to go
back. We’re going to be going back all the time. Uh then you got Hui to the north, which is the
old capital of Vietnam. We haven’t been there   yet. We’re going to be going soon and those videos
will be coming out after this. But you just have that and then the river. The river. Exactly. So,
you have the river as well. So, if you want to   do a river cruise or just sit down by the river,
you have that diff different uh feel as well. So, we we are going to do a video kind of showing
the different vibe of the beach area to the   river area because it does have a different feel
to it and we’ll try to capture it on video. But, yeah, it was just another beautiful aspect of
Da Nang is just having the mountains, the beach,   the river, all that stuff here. Easy to get get
around to and just enjoy it. Just options. Yeah, it depends like what what do I want to
do today? Where do I want to go? Okay,   I have so many different options. cuz I’m not
just limited to only in a city or only a beach or only a river. So or having to travel real far
to get to those things. So it’s it’s really easy   to get to to everything within Da Nang and you can
just get a Grab or you know hire a driver or get a motorbike if you can if you have international
license and you can ride one here. But yeah,   it’s just easy easy to get to that stuff. Sorry,
here I am giggling on the side. If you hear any noises in the background that sound like gremlins,
it’s our Chihuahua. They’re running around having   a little Wrestlemania session. They tend to do
this anytime we are filming a video like this. Uh they just got to, you know, get their two cents
in as well or when we’ve been on very important uh video calls with some of our sponsors for
the channel. Uh yeah, they like to just do this in the background. So, you’re going to meet
them later. So, stay tuned. I’m going to do   a little introduction of each dog for you guys
for some of you that don’t know them yet. But, uh yeah, if you hear that noise, um nothing
serious. It’s just the land piranhas. Don’t   worry. Land piranhas. Yes, exactly. All
right, so let’s get on to the next one. All right. So, the next major deciding
factor for us as a family living here in   Da Nang was safety. And that’s going to be most
people’s deciding factor as well. Of course, no matter where you’re living in the
world, Southeast Asia in general is very,   very safe. And there is no exception when it
comes to Vietnam. Vietnam is one of the safest countries in the entire world. And you feel it
instantly when you’re there. We’ve been around   quite a few different areas of the country
as we travel up the coastline, couple other. Uh but Da Nang especially being a big city with
such a mix of people from all over the world, uh along with locals of course, safety is
huge here. Like there is such a sense of security everywhere you go. It doesn’t matter
where you are, what you’re doing. Obviously, every part of every city in the world is
going to have its bad parts. You know,   you’re not going to go there. But in general,
the amount of safety that we feel here as a family is amazing. We have two teenage boys, as
we have mentioned, and some of you already know. And they can come and go as they please from
our condo where we live into the tourist area, An Thuong area. They can go to the beach. They can
go meet up with their friends at a gaming cafe,   go bowling. They can do whatever they want. and
they can take a grab or they can walk around and stuff and and there’s no we’re not we’re never
concerned. We’re never worried and it doesn’t   matter what time of day either. Yeah. Even late
at night, we we’ll walk around in all sorts of different areas of the city and uh by the beach
and stuff like that and there’s never a problem. We always feel fine. Same with letting our boys
do that, too. They walk around with their friends   and they go to and from different places. Yeah.
And when it’s dark and it’s fine. Yeah. They’ve done it quite a few times. Even in Bangkok was
like that. So again, Southeast Asia being that   way. I mean obviously just like anywhere you’re
going to have petty theft, petty crime which is very common all over the world. So basically
anything above petty theft and petty crime is   going to be from foreigners which we absolutely
hate. People come in here and they just completely act like fools and they make their countries look
bad. They make us expats look bad or foreigners   look bad when we’re not all like that. So it’s
it’s just terrible. But the thing about here is um there’s been stuff that happened like a couple
months ago with the guy that broke into the   jewelry store. The police found him right away.
The the public got like were like trying to get him right away. Like the people in the community
care about their community that much that they’re   not going to let anything like that stand. So
it’s nice that when the community comes together, I mean they have like cameras all over so they’re
able to track the guy down right away. So it is   nice knowing that I mean yeah people there’s
cameras around but it is a safety thing. I mean if something happens then get on there and find
whoever did that to you or whatever right away.   police don’t don’t take things lightly here. They
don’t put up with crap. And the last thing that someone wants is to be put in a Vietnamese jail.
I think more people have are more fearful of doing something bad. But when it comes to any of the
petty theft, like Chris was mentioning, be smart   about your belongings. Don’t leave your stuff on
the beach unattended. Don’t leave your stuff at a restaurant unattended. It is safe. Uh there is
little to no theft, but it does happen. Use your common sense. Yeah, that’s anywhere you travel,
even in your hometown. you just don’t do that. We   are on the local expat Facebook groups here in Da
Nang and quite often there are people posting that something of theirs got stolen. Uh a lot of times
like someone said that their bag went missing or something and once people start asking questions,
it always seems to come back to the fact that that person left their stuff unattended. They went
to the beach. They left their stuff at a table   or on one of the one of the lounger chairs that
you can rent and then they went into the water or they decided to leave their bags somewhere and
they went on like a full beach walk for an hour,   you know. So, it shouldn’t happen, but that’s
when it’s going to happen. So, you just have to be smart. Yeah. There’s desperate people that
that want to get. But other than that, I mean,   if that’s the worst of crime Yeah. that’s going
on here, it’s pretty good. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. All right, so next up is the quality of life
balance between work and fun. The overall vibe here in Da Nang. It’s a very happy vibe. Everybody
seems to be excited to be here. They’re enjoying life. They’re at the beach. They can work online.
All that stuff. You can have a beer while working like we are right now. Cheers to everyone. This
is our favorite beer actually in Vietnam. Huda. They have quite a few different ones, but who is
the best? That’s a good one. They eat it here all   the time. But yeah, just the quality of life
balance and and that’s one thing that we had in Costa Rica as well is just having that that
work live uh balance, whether it’s us having to do stuff online, but then we can go uh enjoy the pool
or whatever like that. The same thing here. So,   if you do work online, just know that you can
have that work fun uh vibe no matter what. So like there’s like different activities which
we’re going to go over and stuff like that.   But it’s just a really good upbeat vibe here in
Da Nang compared to other places we visited. So that’s another reason we like as soon as we
got here like hey we love how this feels. So   again another reason that we chose Da Nang. Yeah
it’s just yeah like Chris said like a very happy joyful place like everybody most people are in a
good mood and I think a lot of that has to do with um just the friendliness of the local people
as well. all people that have lived here long   term that have really integrated into living in
a place like this or into the local culture and uh they’re just really happy and grateful to be
here. Uh the local people are always so friendly which is just typical Vietnamese. Uh but here
everybody is very very happy and welcoming and I think just having the beach nearby too.
I mean the beach and the ocean and all the sunlight and vitamin D is very therapeutic for
people. So when you live somewhere with a beach naturally it’s going to be overall good for your
mental health your well-being and everything. So   yeah exactly. So that’s what brings Dong
into our list was just that overall feel. So next on the list is weather. We left Canada
where we’re originally from in 2017 and we have been living in tropical climate ever since. So,
we are very used to this weather. We can adapt to heat, high levels of humidity and stuff. So, it
wasn’t a big change for us. Our bodies are used to this. We’re climatized. Uh some days obviously
it gets really hot and the humidity gets really thick and sometimes like nobody can get used to
that but it it was an easy transition for us. So having so much you know sunlight and vitamin D
all the time which has always been important to us really really was a deciding factor of where we
were going to live. Now, yes, of course, Vietnam in general and specifically Da Nang being on the
ocean and where it’s located gets a rainy season or what they call the typhoon season because
there are typhoons that go through here. So,   uh, everywhere in the world has weather. Weather
happens. You can’t change it. You can’t control it. So, there are some months here, which we’re in
now actually, where it does rain off and on. It’s not all day every single day for months and months
and months on end. That doesn’t happen anywhere in   the world. Um, but yeah, I’m sure we’re going to
get some. We’re already in the middle of October here, and we’ve had sun and blue sky, little bit
of rain here and there, but nothing major. But   we’re going into the rainy season. We’re used to
that. We actually embrace it. We enjoy the rain. It makes everything really fresh. It cools things
off. Um, you know, sometimes when you have too   many days of it and you’ve made some plans and
stuff, you might not appreciate it that much, but when it comes like filming certain videos
and stuff, then it’s a bit of a pain, but but   you just change things up. You can’t control it.
And uh like I said, we’re we’re used to this kind of weather and I think it’s beautiful. I’d rather
have warm rain than freezing cold snow. Yeah, me too. Exactly. And it forces us to stay away from
the beach. So then we stay home and we watch a   movie or we play games with the boys and get more
productive or get more productive, whatever. Maybe or we just come up with other video ideas or we
just find things to do indoors. Especially living   in a place like Da Nang, which is a big city with
lots of indoor activities to do. on a rainy day, there’s plenty of things that you can go out and
do if you don’t want to be stuck in the house. So,   yeah. So, again, don’t be commenting below, “Oh,
what’s the weather going to be like in November?” It’s like, you don’t know. It’s what’s the weather
going to be like where you live? Nobody knows.   It’s not raining all day every day. If you’re
booking a trip, just book it. Come embrace it. There’s things to do. It’s still warm and yeah,
it’s just I mean, obviously, if you don’t want   any rain, then don’t book during the season. But
if it’s fits your budget cuz it is less expensive, then definitely do it. You’re still going to have
some days where it’s it could be sunny and blue   sky the whole day. Yeah. Take that and just know
that like the weather is unpredictable. No matter where you are in the world, there’s no set it’s
October 16th, it’s going to rain for 2 months. It doesn’t happen like that. So, last year we had
four typhoons. So, this year we’re going to have,   you know, six. Every year’s different. We
experienced that in the tropics before. We had years where it was completely dry the whole
time. Then we had years where it rained more. So   the rainy season though generally when it is
going to rain is between like September and January kind of thing. Exactly. So just keep that
in mind cuz that’s when it it can rain more and if   you don’t want that on your vacation then then
definitely keep that in mind. But yeah, don’t let the weather ruin your plans because there’s
lots of stuff you can do even when it’s raining. All right. So, another big deciding factor, not
only for us, but for any of you that are looking   to come to Da Nang or you’re already here, is
the cost of living. That’s just in Vietnam in general. Da Nang is getting slightly a bit more
expensive in certain areas like rent and stuff   like that. But that’s just because more people
are coming here. There’s high demand. There’s less availability of stuff like that. And uh
yeah, that’s just how the world works. That’s   unavoidable. Yeah. Unavoidable. But overall,
the cost of living is really good here. Uh I would People say cheap. It’s not cheap. It’s
inexpensive. Don’t don’t use the word cheap when   you’re describing people’s economy and stuff like
that. It’s not not cool to say like that. But we are going to be having a full video of our cost of
living. We’re going to break it down um like rent and food and all that stuff. And uh so that video
will be coming up. We’re going to start keeping   track in November. And then come December, we’ll
put that video together so you guys can know what the cost of living is. We’re also going to do a
comparison between Thailand and Vietnam. We lived   in Bangkok. So again, city Da Nang city. So we’re
going to have a comparison between Thailand and Da Nang or Bangkok and Da Nang. So that’ll be coming
up as well in the future. So full videos on that.   So yeah, just know that uh depending on what your
budget is, whether it’s really high, medium, or low, you can come and live here comfortably. It’s
just whatever your budget fits. So just know that   you can have a roof over your head and eat every
day at a reasonable cost. Very affordable. And we thought that with the amount that we were paying
that was so much less in Bangkok compared to Costa Rica, that was a huge savings. And now after
living here for 2 and a half months in Da Nang, I still can’t believe how much more we’re saving
on top of that even from Bangkok to here. Yeah, it’s crazy. It’s insane. Like just daily things
that you wouldn’t realize would be so cost reasonable. Or you look at your bank account at
the end of the month after you’ve paid your bills   and all that kind of stuff and you think, “Wow,
like I actually have, you know, a few pennies left over.” Yeah. Exactly. I have some savings.
Yeah. Or you have you have travel money for in the country. So that’s a nice thing go around. Yeah.
It’s common knowledge that it’s very affordable   here, but honestly it’s it’s already surprised me
how much further ahead we are living here as well. So uh that was a top reason why we moved here. Of
course it wasn’t the main reason because there’s lots of places in Southeast Asia or just Asia
in general that we could go and live and live comfortably. But yeah, wow. Yeah, this is this is
the place to be if you want to save money. Yeah, those of you living here already know that.
Those of you coming here, be prepared to   uh be astonished by like a bowl of F or for a
dollar or a sandwich for like the just eating out in general can be very reasonable. And uh yeah,
you’ll you’ll notice when you get here is yeah,   it’s pretty impressive how they’ve been able to
keep their economy that way and not go up like everywhere else in North America and stuff like
that. So yeah, cost of living, thumbs up to that. All right. So, next one. This is a fun one. The
food scene. We are foodie people. Many people are, but we are foodie people. Whether we are filming
a food vlog for you guys or just going out daily and trying some different foods at different
places. Da Nang has an amazing abundance of food. Yeah. Like food from all over the world. So
many foreigners here that have started their own businesses and brought those recipes of what
dishes they used to make back in their home country and have made them here and actually
perfected them. Uh we have yet to have a bad meal in 2 and 1/2 months and just the overall
4 months that we’ve been in Vietnam. But yeah, it’s crazy. They have in Da Nang, they
have a Transylvanian restaurant. What is Transylvanian food? We need to go and
see what that’s about. But that’s that’s   how diverse the food scene is here. Aside
from the amazing local Vietnamese food, which we love. That is always our preference. We
like to eat the local food, but we’re not going to   eat the local food all day every day. That’s just
the reality. Like we don’t eat in back in Canada, we didn’t eat the exact same food every single
day. Sometimes we wanted sushi. Sometimes we   wanted Italian. Sometimes we wanted Vietnamese.
Vietnamese when we were in Canada, right? So, just to have the options of having different
dishes from all over the world and some western food sometimes, of course, that we might miss.
Uh, but yeah, I just uh I it’s really amazing. We we heard that this was a foodie city and
it definitely is. Yeah. I mean, coming from   Bangkok where there’s so many different types of
restaurants and different cuisines from around the world, you’re like, “Okay, I mean, is it
going to be as good as there?” It is. Like,   it’s actually in some cases even better because
it’s more condensed. So you can be walkable and there’s so much diversity with the Vietnamese
food here as well. We’re going to be doing our uh   tasting Vietnam series and we have a whole bunch
of different dishes lined up. It’s going to be a fun series that we’re doing. We’re going
to start filming that soon. And uh yeah,   there’s just like you can get bans bon f like
there’s so many different things just in Da Nang that from around the country that uh is
available. So not only like Shayna said the   the western food or the food from home, the
comfort food uh you’re going to have that as well. There’s even like cuisine from Spain,
there’s Greek restaurants. It’s like it’s   amazing how much different uh crazy cuisines are
available in Da Nang. So yeah, just so you know, if you are a picky eater, you’re going to be able
to find something to eat here very easily. or if   you’re a foodie person like we are, you are going
to be in heaven. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. And again, subscribe if you haven’t. We’re going to have
a lot of different uh restaurant videos coming   out around Da Nang, whether it’s like the
western style or the local places that in tasty Vietnam. So then you mark it on your list.
Yeah, it’s going to be fun. We can’t wait to get   filming those and show you guys different
things around here as far as food goes. All right. So, one of the biggest things when
moving abroad is having a community. And that’s   one place that Da Nang excels. There’s so many uh
expats here, foreigners, travelers, locals that all want to uh meet each other. Uh same interest.
They just want to get together and talk. A lot of Vietnamese want to actually practice their
English and people want to practice their   Vietnamese. There’s people that are into all sorts
of like crypto stuff, pickle ball, just whatever community you’re looking for, you’re going to be
able to find that here. And that’s huge for us,   especially as a family, for our kids. Um, one
thing that was uh lacking in Bangkok is it was really hard to find that community cuz it’s such
a big city and it’s kind of like pocketed where if   you don’t have those people in your neighborhood,
you’re it’s going to be a little bit harder to uh meet people. But just yeah, we’ve been walking
around and we end up just meeting friends and   talking and everybody’s again that comes down
to the overall mood of Da Nang is everybody’s happy and they just want to chat and stuff and
we’ve ended up meeting a lot of uh new friends   just that way. a lot of Australians, Canadians and
Australians. I guess we’re like two peas in a pod. We’re just upside down. Yeah, we’re like magnets
for each other and Kiwis. It’s so crazy. Like we   just keep meeting Australians and Yeah. people
from New Zealand. Yeah. Almost every single day pretty much and like we just start talking
and then all of a sudden we’re like instant   bffs. Yeah. Yeah. It’s amazing. Yeah. And then
again, even the locals like they’re very happy and they’re very they want to learn where you’re
from, why you’re here. Most of them I mean they’re   obviously you’re going to get the odd that’s out
but majority probably 99% of the people that are from Da Nang they love to share their story their
city especially a lot of the people that live   in Da Nang are from Da Nang they haven’t come in
there’s a few that have but a lot of them actually have lived here for their whole life they’re born
here raised here why would you leave it’s such   a great place you’ve got a beautiful city and a
beach and nature everywhere right yeah but that’s the thing so community wise like if you’re into
any sort of hobbies like you can do surfing pickle   ball like as far as activities go um skateboarding
um hiking and just overall uh content creation, things like that. You’re going to find a community
here and you get on the on the Facebook groups and   you’re going to find a whole bunch of people that
are into that same thing. You’re going to meet up somewhere in a coffee shop, discuss stuff. Like
you’re going to have that whole friendship of your   community. So that’s a nice thing is like you’re
not going somewhere where it’s like, oh, there’s, you know, only two people like pickle ball. So
it’s like, yeah, there’s no segregation. And   that’s the thing with it being such a melting
pot, like there’s no segregation. Like we we didn’t feel this as much in some of the other
areas of Vietnam. I’m just going to be honest,   like it was people were friendly and everyone was
great and talked a little bit and stuff like that, it didn’t have the same feel as it does here in
Da Nang. But with it being such a melting pot   here and everybody just making friends easily and
chatting no matter where we go every single day, people just start talking to us. We start talking
to them. But it’s not the segregation of like, you know, the foreigners or the expats that have
lived here for a while. they’re their own separate   group and the tourists are their own separate
group and the local Vietnamese people are their own separate group. It doesn’t matter. Like the
the Vietnamese people are becoming friends with all of the foreigners and the tourists. And a lot
of times they’re the ones that are starting the   group meetups. They’re like, “Oh, anybody else
here? Like come meet up with me. I want to talk and learn about like your whatever your history,
your culture, your story, whatever.” So it’s cool   that the the people of Da Nang, the Vietnamese
people of Da Nang are actually doing that as well. I mean, you are going to find the odd person out
that’s going to be carrying weight from wherever they came and they’re going to start stuff.
Um, but for the most part, everybody’s, yeah,   again, happy and excited to be here. Community
and again, even for us as a family, there’s a lot of families that are moving here. Our boys
have friends now from around the world. So many   friends that they’ve met in 2 and 1/2 months.
Like, that’s very a short amount of time for them to already have a handful of of friends and
friends from all over the world, too. But again, it is transient. It’s no different than anywhere
you live in the world living abroad. If you’re not   living in the same house your whole life, you’re
not going to have the same friends around. So, I mean, their friends will come and go and will
come and go as well, but overall, there’s a lot   of different families coming in. So, if you do
have kids, this is definitely a good place for that. I mean, there’s there’s schools and stuff
like that as well, but just the overall community   as as families is really huge here. Yeah. Very
important to us because when we’re going to live somewhere long term, we’re not living there
just to be friends with the other people that are   like us or from our part of the world. we are
living somewhere to meet those kind of people, but also almost more importantly to integrate with
the local culture and really get to know the local people. So, I’m glad that that’s such a good mix
here because if it wasn’t, we wouldn’t be living   here. No, exactly. And that’s that would be one
reason we wouldn’t live here. So, it’s like Yeah, just overall community feel here is amazing. You
guys are going to find out when you get here. All right. So, one of the other major deciding
factors for choosing Da Nang is the ease to travel   around Vietnam as well as other countries. Here
you have the train. So, you can take the train up and down the coast. You can go from like Ho Chi
Min to Hanoi in between. Um, you also have the international airport which you can get to a lot
of countries in Asia, Southeast Asia, and beyond.   It’s only a 20inut drive from where we are right
now and it’s right in the city. It’s super easy to get to. It’s not super busy from what we’ve heard.
We haven’t flown in or out of it yet, but yeah,   just having that that ease of being able to travel
around and again making videos for YouTube and travel content. That’s a huge deciding factor for
us is how easily can we get to Thailand again, go to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, wherever
we want to go, it’s going to be easier because of   that. And then again around the country, we do
want to show you guys a lot more of Vietnam, just different areas in the north, uh, back down
to the south and stuff like that, as well as   around here. So just having that ease of getting
around the country even as something simple as taking a grab somewhere like say you want to go
to Hoi An from Da Nang is about 45 to 50 minutes   away it’s on grab if you use the app it’s about
400,000 dong to get there or else if you have a driver we can just contact on WhatsApp like we
have it’s about 300,000 sometimes even less so   but yeah just the ease of getting from Da Nang to
other parts of the world and the country itself whether it’s a plane boat a car it’s just so
easy and that’s one reason why we picked Da Nang All right. So, next up is it being pet friendly
here for us. When we started looking for a place to rent, there was surprisingly quite a few
places that came up that we could rent long term that were pet friendly. We have four Chihuahua.
It’s not easy to find an owner of an apartment or condo that will allow you to have more than one,
sometimes two pets, but we went with an agent that knew which buildings were actually pet friendly.
There are quite a few where the entire building is   pet friendly. They even have a separate elevator
that you can take your pets in when you take them outside and stuff so you, you know, keep them
separate from the other people that are coming   and going from the building. So, yeah, I was I
didn’t think that it was going to be that easy, but because we went with an agent to find our
condo, uh we were able to actually have quite a few options. Luckily, the first place he showed
us ended up being the perfect place for us, and   that’s the condo that we live in now. But I know
that there are quite a few other buildings out there and other just standalone houses and stuff
that are very pet friendly. Actually, you have   more of a chance of renting something pet friendly
with multiple pets in a house itself instead of a building. So, there are those options as well.
We looked at a few of those. They just weren’t   suitable for us. But, yeah, I also see a lot of
people on the expat Facebook groups asking for pet friendly rental options, whether it’s short-term
or long-term. And there’s always a lot of people that contact them back and message back and say,
“Hey, I have something available for you.” I saw somebody had three dogs, um, so close to the
amount that we have. And, uh, they were able to   find a place, too. So, that was another thing we
we didn’t know for sure. Bangkok is really not pet friendly. It’s very, very difficult to find a pet
friendly place there with more than one dog, but we were very blessed to find the condo that we did
and that was a full pet friendly building as well   and we could have our four dogs there for the year
that we lived there. So, naturally coming here, we were having a little bit of an anxiety that uh
oh, we’re going to be in another city in Asia and   they’re not going to have something suitable for
us with our pets and it’s going to be hard to find a place to live. I mean, place to live is the most
important thing, right? But we found our place and there’s a lot of people in this building that
have pets. There’s a lot of people walking around Da Nang with their pets on leashes, walking down
by the beach on the promenade. Uh and around the main tourist areas with dogs and stuff. So you
can tell that this is becoming more of a a pet place and they love their dogs and pets and
stuff too. I’m sure it’s a very pet friendly city. A lot of Vietnam is as well. They’re not
eating dogs here everywhere. That’s uh that’s something in the past. I mean, it happens more in
the north still, but that’s tradition. But yeah,   just overall pet friendliness. Like Shayna said,
people are walking around with them. We’re not going to let you guys know which building we’re in
just for safety reasons, obviously. But just know,   like she said, there’s a lot of options as
far as buildings go that are pet friendly. And then if that doesn’t work out, there’s a lot
of housing options, especially in the city part.   That’s where we looked at houses. And again,
like you said, it just didn’t work out for us. Just find a good agent, a really good honest agent
that works for an actual real estate company. We went with Central Vietnam Real Estate, so CVR,
they have lots of agents. It’s actually run by uh foreigners. Uh the one guy is from the
States and the other guy is from Poland. And uh they have Vietnamese agents that speak fluent
English and know exactly what uh foreigners are looking for in a place to rent. So that is
a very good company to go with. And yeah,   they had a lot of pet friendly options as well.
So then you know that you can trust them. They’re reputable and they’ll help you find a place. Yeah.
So I think we should introduce the dogs. Yeah,   it’s time to introduce. For those of you that
haven’t met them yet, I’ll get we’ll go one by one from from oldest to youngest. They’re kind of
looking at us like when do we get our time on the   camera as well. Okay. Yeah. Come on, Ollie. Well,
yeah. We’re going to start with the oldest. So this is Olly. We call him old man Olly. He’s not
really that old. He’s eight. He’s very um anxious all the time. I know people say Chihuahua are,
but not all of them are, but he’s always he’s very stiff and he’s stern and he’s just old man
Ollie. Yeah, he’s old man Ollie. He thinks he he’s runs the house because he’s the oldest and stuff
and it’s okay. You can look at the camera. Are   you camera shy? I know. He doesn’t usually shake,
but he’s shaking right now because he knows that he’s getting the spotlight. So, that’s Ollie.
And then we have Princess Ma. So this is Ma. And she is so sweet. I mean, they all are, but
she’s like a little princess. And she kind of, even though the next two dogs we’re going to show
you are the two younger ones are not her babies, uh, by blood, she treats them like they’re her
babies. We call her Mama Mika. Are you nervous, too? No. Thank you. Thank you. Yes. Yes. She’s
very loving as you can see. Okay, Skye’s turn. Then we have little Skye. She’s almost four
years old. Look at how small she is. She weighs 1.5 kilos. So, she is a rare blue Chihuahua. So,
she’s got the gray coat that actually in the sun has like a little bit of a blue tinge. You know
how there’s blue healers and blue uh terriers and stuff like that? She is a rare blue chihuahua
that’s a mini Chihuahua. So, she is very, very sweet as well. Are you Why are you You’re camera
shy, too. What’s going on? She acts like the baby even though she’s not the youngest, but because
she’s small, she thinks she can take advantage of   that. And then there’s Enzo. This is Enzo. He is
almost three. And yeah, he’s a he’s a good little guy. It’s funny because we have two boy dogs and
two girl dogs. And even though he’s a boy dog and Ollie’s a boy dog, they have totally different
personalities just like animals do in general,   just like humans do, but he is very very snugly
and uh just a suck. He’s just always sucking up and yeah, he likes to he likes to snuggle and he
likes his belly rubs and stuff. And yeah, you’re not you’re not camera shy. You’re not shaking. No,
he’s fine with it. He’s like, “Look at me. I’m the   star of the show.” But he’s the one that has the
most energy. Yeah. and is always kind of running, jumping around, and wrestling with the other dogs.
He’s the parkour donkey. So, that is our pack of Chihuahua. Of course, one of the main reasons
why we knew it was going to be okay to travel   with them. We actually got them in Costa Rica. I
started collecting them like Pokémon. Yeah. Like, can you not get cards or something? No, there’s
another Chihuahua that’s available that it’s the color I need. Yeah, I’m cut off. Yeah, it’s like
shoes, but there Yeah, they’re they’re small.   But they’re small and we knew that it was going
to be easy to travel with them and it has been. So that’s not a problem. They’re small enough
they go in cabin with us on an airplane under the   seat in front of us in their soft crate as long
as everything meets all the requirements. Yeah, we have a link actually in the in the description
below for the actual crates that we use. It’s a   company we worked with and yeah, the crates
are they actually sleep in them every night. So if you guys are planning on traveling with
your pets, definitely check that out. They have   really good really good very good quality. We’ve
used them a lot and they’re like brand new. Yeah, they haven’t even wore out at all. So yeah,
just so you know, like that’s the ones we use   and they’ve been amazing and the dogs love them
once it’s their their den. It’s their den and they love it. So it’s funny too because when we
started or she started collecting the chihuahuas,   we planned on staying in Costa Rica and then
they would just stay there with somebody looking after them while we travel, but that changed and
we’ve still been able to make it work. So yeah,   we’re like no, we’re making a permanent move from
Costa Rica to another part of the world. They are our family. We’re taking them with us because we
don’t have any plans of returning to Costa Rica.   So, they are very well traveled Chihuahua. They’ve
been to more countries than most humans. They’re my dad. Well, your That’s That’s easy. Your dad
doesn’t do anything. He goes nowhere. He’s like a hermit. Yeah. But they’ve been to what, five
countries now? Allie’s been to six. So, yeah,   it’s pretty funny. But yeah, they’re like
pet friendly here. And if you do have pets, don’t worry about that. You can you can live here,
find a place to live, and just know that they’re   going to be loved by everyone. So, yeah. And they
also have a lot of animal hospitals, really good, reputable, knowledgeable veterinarians and stuff.
So that’s not a problem either. Lots of pet shops to buy pet food and anything that you need. So
yeah, exactly. So bring your pets, live in Don. All right. So we touched on this a little bit
in the community part about the activities. So   there’s a lot of outdoor activities you can do.
beach. So, surfing, running, walking, swimming, all the beach stuff. Volleyball, football,
all that stuff. There’s parasailing. Yeah,   parasailing if you want to spend a lot of money
on that and go a bunch of times. But, but yeah, there’s a lot of outdoor activities, things
like pickle ball, which are kind of indoor,   outdoor. It’s a huge thing here. There’s pickle
ball courts like next to pickle ball courts on top of pickle ball courts. And on the Facebook groups,
everybody’s asking every single day where they   should go play pickle ball or who wants to play
pickle ball with them. It’s huge here. Yeah. So, if you are a pickle ball player, this is a a gym
of a spot. Get your pickle ball. Yeah. And there’s   shops so you can buy all the gear and stuff if
you’re just starting out. So, there’s that. Uh we actually found a ball hockey uh community.
So, we’re actually going to be going to do that   Saturday. Not him and the boys. Me, me and Jade
are going to go play that. All right. Of course, there are indoor activities for those rainy
days when it does rain. So, you have bowling   alleys. There’s quite a few here as well. There’s
movie theaters. Again, a few of those around. So, depending on what type of movie you want to
watch, there’s different ones you can go to.   Uh there’s an indoor/outdoor water park that’s
overpass the airport near the other near Dong Bay which is the other beach here. Uh the amusement
park that was in the city is actually shut down   now but there is the Vin Pearl which is about an
hour from here so you can go do that. Um Badminton I think. Yeah, there’s badminton. There was an
ice rink and our boys absolutely love to skate. So does Chris who loves ice skating and that was
something that they really got heavily into in   Bangkok. We had an ice rink right down the road
from our place and so they were really enjoying that and then we came here and realized that it
was gone but apparently they might be renovating   it and no there’s another one that’s in another
area that they might be doing or else maybe in the new mall that’s built cuz they tend to put ice
rinks in them. So hopefully one of there might be   one showing up eventually. That’ be nice to have
that again. Uh what else for indoor? There’s a there’s an actual cafe that you can do archery
at as well. We’re going to be going to there in   our cafe video. So show you that. Gaming cafes.
Oh yeah, gaming cafe which our boys are totally into. They meet their friends all the time at the
gaming cafe. They get a coffee, a snack, and play   some games there for a while. Pretty much anything
you can think of as far as like activities. There is there’s escape rooms. That’s what I was going
to say. They just went to the escape room. Yeah,   there’s a couple different ones of those and
they’re actually really good. The one we we did, we did an hour. We only got like halfway through.
So, they’re actually quite tough. So, just so you   know, if you are into puzzles and stuff like
that, there’s some cool escape rooms. Oh, also lots of classes for kids like martial
arts, taekwondo, that kind of stuff. Um, I’ve seen a lot of people asking about that.
Dance classes for kids as well, gymnastics, uh, pretty much everything that you could art classes,
everything that you could imagine for activities back in your home country, they have here. They’re
doing a great job of that. Yeah. So, and in Hoi   An, too. You don’t have to go far. There might not
be something in Da Nang you’re looking for, but you don’t have to go far. 45 minutes to Hoi An,
and they’ve got a class there. So, yeah. So that’s   the thing. If your kids or you’re into a certain
activity where you’re from and you’re thinking of moving over here, coming here for an extended
period of time, just know that you’re going to   be able to find pretty much everything as far as
activities goes, whether it’s outdoor or indoors. So yeah, it’s another reason we picked here is
there’s just so much to do for us and our kids. All right, so next is hospitals and health care in
general. Da Nang has tons of hospitals to choose from. There are so many whether they’re smaller
or larger. Quite a few of them are the private international hospitals that you know from other
parts of the world that they’ll have for expats and foreigners. And they have top quality, top
rated doctors that are working here and taking care of people all the time. They also have
very very high technology with the equipment that they’re using. Um, the one main one here
called Vinmec is known to be able to do absolutely everything you could need. You could go there
for multiple reasons and all you have to do is   go to that one hospital and they can take care of
you for no matter what it is. There’s other ones that can only do certain things and some of them
are more of like a public hospital. They can still take care of you, but they not might not have your
needs. So there’s certain things that you can go   to some of the hospitals for if it’s just basic
needs, but if it’s a emergency or something really serious, you’ve got the main Vinmec hospital.
Yeah, it’s nice having that. It’s just uh we hope that we never have to use it, but it’s there if
we need or if anybody else needs, it’s very, very important. So uh the cost of the medical care here
is insanely affordable and also um any type of medications that you need from a pharmacy as well
is very very cost reasonable. It’s pretty much the   same pricing. Shane had asked at the one hospital,
was it family family hospital with Lakai just for a checkup and she asked the doctor there and they
said basically all pharmacies are the same price all over. So whether it’s a hospital or one of the
other private ones then you you can just go to the   corner. They’re all over here. So and yeah, you
can get most stuff. There is some things where you can get over the counter you have to get from a
doctor with a prescription. But for the most part,   you can get pretty much anything. So it’s nice
having that security knowing that if something happens, you’re going to be taken care of no
matter what. and by people that are professionals   that have a lot of experience and are very
well trained. Yeah. And even for dental work, there’s a lot of great dentists in Vietnam as well
and in so if you need to get any dental work done,   you can have that. Chiropractor here as well.
We’ve been to the chiropractor a few times. People will take vacations here just for the health
care system, just to get some medical work done,   dental work done, uh all sorts of different
things, any type of treatment because it’s actually more cost reasonable for them to come
here, have a vacation, get themselves taken care of in whatever ways they need than it is for
them to be treated in their home country. So,   yeah. So, definitely keep that in mind. You’re
going to be okay if you move here as far as keeping your health up. So, yeah, definitely
one of the top reasons we picked Da Nang. Right. So, another reason we chose Da Nang is the
ease of doing a visa run. Unfortunately, Vietnam doesn’t have a longer term visa for people yet.
They are working on one. Who knows when that’s   going to happen, but compared to other countries
like Thailand and Philippines and stuff like that, you do have to leave the country. Uh for
us, it’s every 90 days. For most people,   it’s that unless you have like a work permit or
something or work visa here. But the ease of here is you have the international airport. So, if you
want to fly out for a week and go somewhere or if   you just want to do a quick hop at to Bangkok
and back and just make sure you have your visa ready to go once you arrive, you can do that.
Or like we did, and we actually filmed a video,   so that is already out. You guys can go back and
watch that. We did a a visa run with Lin Visa and uh they just took us to the Lao border. We really
didn’t have to do anything. We just got on the   bus, ate food, drank beer, and we stopped at
the at the um customs and we never even saw customs agent. They just took our passport. They
took care of everything. Oh, easy. So simple. It was a long day, but it was very easy. We just had
to show up. That was it. And it was about what, $150, $160 per person around there. And
that includes your visa. So your Lao visa, your uh Vietnam visa, the whole transportation.
Uh yeah, basically you just get on and you ride and you come back. You guys will see in
that video. If you haven’t watched it yet,   go back and watch it. It’s a very detailed visa
run guide that we made for you guys. So definitely worth checking that out. you’ll see exactly how to
do a land border run like we did and it was super   simple. Yeah. And and again once we travel out
by flying to other countries to film and stuff, we’ll obviously be showing you that as well as far
as leaving the country. So again, every 90 days,   we’re used to that from Costa Rica. We did it for
many years. And uh it’s just part of life when you live on the road like this. It just becomes
normal. Part of routine is it’s a pain. Yeah. But   it’s just part of routine. And I’d rather live
here and have to deal with that than shovel snow back in Canada. But I think if you can make a trip
out of it and you can go to another nearby country   and you know spend a week or two or however long
you want or just a few days you know if you don’t want to do the long day hop across the land border
thing just make a trip out of it. There’s so many   great places that you can go and visit that are
nearby Vietnam and the flights the flights in Southeast Asia are very inexpensive. So it’s like
yeah a lot of people just do that like I’m going   to go to Seim Reap for a week or whatever like
go to Laos or go to Hong Kong whatever. So yeah it’s a nice thing you have options when you’re
living here as far as doing the border runs. All right. So, on that about the cheaper
flights around here, uh, transportation is   really inexpensive, whether it’s a Grab, like
a lot of places in the city are $150 to get around depending on where you’re going. Maybe
$3 max, that kind of thing. Um, shuttles. So, when we were shuttling all the way up the coast,
it was like we go five or 6 hours, it was like   $200 or something. $200 US. Yeah. So, very
inexpensive. That’s like a big shuttle for all of our stuff. private private and our dogs to come
like 5 6 hours. So really inexpensive that way. The train’s inexpensive. Even like the ferry over
to Cham Island that was pretty inexpensive or the   speedboat. So just yeah, overall transportation
in Vietnam is really inexpensive and yeah, you can explore the whole country and not worry
about like overspending on having to get there   and you can spend a little bit more on your hotel
if you want or your food wherever you are. So just keep that in mind too. You can travel the country
really easily and very inexpensively. Okay. So,   those of you that have children or teenage boys
like we do, we decided to have them join in on the video. We’re going to ask them both some specific
questions and get them to give you their honest view on their life in Da Nang and any input that
they have. It wasn’t easy to get them to come on camera. I can say that they’re really good with
being on camera and being comfortable when they’re   making their gaming videos for YouTube. But
when it comes to our travel channel, it’s not always easy. So, we picked the right day. They’re
willingly going to talk to you guys and answer some questions that we’re going to ask them and
tell you what they think about living here. So,   we’ll be right back. Okay, guys. So, this is our
oldest son, Jayden. He is 17 years old. Actually, next month, in almost exactly a month, he is
going to be 18. Turns 18 on November 18th. So, soon we’re going to have an adult. I am just mind
blown by that. Like it’s what what happened? Yeah. I don’t know. Where’ the little guy go? How’d
this happen? I don’t know. As you can see,   he’s he’s very tall and uh very handsome. So,
we want to ask you a few questions to share with our audience what your personal opinions are on
living in Da Nang. So, do you like living in Da Nang? Yes, I do. Yes. Uh, and Vietnam in general
or specifically Da Nang after some of the other places that we visited. I mean, everywhere we’ve
been in Vietnam has been great. Like, there’s no complaints at all. Every everywhere is beautiful
and I can’t wait to keep exploring more. I mean, you know, going to future places like um, Hanoi
for example, or Sa Pa or, you know, I can’t even wait to go to Bana Hills too and see what that’s
like. Yeah, that’s But there’s um, yeah, I mean, there’s there’s no complaint really. There’s no
really bad place that we’ve been to so far. We’ve   already been, you know, we’ve driven all the way
up the coast and it’s it’s it’s been it’s been amazing so far. So, yeah. So, out of the places
we’ve been so far, why is Da Nang your favorite? Um, I mean, we kind of we kind of knew that Da
Nang was going to be the best just from what other people have said. I mean, I guess it depends, you
know, it varies per person and what you like and, you know, your preferences, but just I feel like
overall for anyone, Da Nang is very great because of the, you know, diversity with things to do
and it’s just everything is the perfect mix here. It’s it’s perfect. You got the beach, you can
go, you know, they have things like, you know, occasional parks here and there. You can go
deeper into the city, you can there it’s just so much diversity. And then you have places like Hoi
An which are only like 45 minutes away and it’s   completely different. So that’s that’s why it’s
great. And you know the the mix of locals and uh tourists or expats here. It’s it’s good and that’s
why it’s perfect to me. I mean I couldn’t I can’t complain. What would you say is your most favorite
part of living in Dong? Obviously, um, for for like Lakai and I at our age and you guys feeling
comfortable enough to let us go anywhere and because it’s safe and there’s nothing really to
worry about. Um, that’s that’s the main thing for   me that I love the most, being able to go out with
friends and uh, you know, just having that freedom to go anywhere without having to, you know, be on
your toes about anything or, you know, it’s just   it’s just perfect. It’s it’s it’s perfectly
safe here when for the most part. Obviously, there’s going to be, you know, things that happen
in certain areas, but everywhere is safe here   pretty much. And that’s what I love the most about
it. And, you know, just it it’s it’s good nature, too. You know, every everywhere is nice here.
So, that’s Yeah, that’s the best part. So, out of all the things that there are to do here, what
would be some of your most favorite things to do? Um, to be honest, going to all the different
restaurants and, you know, just exploring new areas has to be my favorite thing to do. And
there’s a lot of variety of activities you can do, whether that’s going to the water park or, you
know, certain like we just did the escape room,   for example. That was that was really fun to do.
Um, there there’s just there’s just a lot to do here generally and a lot to explore. And that’s
got to be my favorite thing. And the beach is nice, too. Do I like going to the beach every now
and then? Do you think other teenagers or young adults your age would enjoy living in Da Nang?
Yes, 100%. I feel like any anyone would. I mean, you for teenagers, there’s even like the
perfect mix of things to do and you won’t   really you won’t get bored here at all. So, yeah,
I I do. I think so. Well, thank you for your part in our video today. We appreciate it. I’m sure
our audience appreciates it as well. Yep. Hey, Dork. Hi. So this is our youngest son, Lakai.
He’s 14 years old. Um, he’s spent most of his life not in Canada. So well traveled. You spent
more of your life in Costa Rica than in Canada.   But so first thing, do you like living in Da Nang?
Yeah, I do. It’s amazing. Yeah, that’s good. Yeah. Picked a good spot then. Yeah. Uh, what’s your
favorite parts about living here? um just like exploring around like the main areas and also
just like the different attractions that they have here and stuff like that and going to see
those things. It’s just it’s really fun. Yeah. So,   what are your some of your favorite things
to do? Um some of my favorite things to do uh I guess going to a water park or going bowling
or something like that. Activities kind of like   that. Uh I guess going around the like main Anton
area and stuff like that. like a tourist area, checking out all the restaurants. Yeah. Going to
Bikini Bottom, stuff like that. Do you like being by the beach again like we had in Costa Rica?
Yeah. Yeah, it’s it’s definitely amazing having   a beach nearby and it’s just really accessible to
be able to go to the beach and hang out and stuff like that. So, yeah, I think it’s a necessity
even though you guys don’t really swim much,   but it’s just nice being by the water, hearing
the waves, and hanging out there with friends. Um, do you think anybody watching that has kids
or teenagers, do you think those teenagers or   kids should move to Da Nang? They should. Yes,
they really should. Yeah. They like living here. Yeah. Yeah. For all those reasons. Yeah. Yeah. All
the same reasons. And if anybody watching that’s   moving here has kids your guys’ age, they should
DM us on Instagram so you can meet up with them. Yeah. Yeah. So, there you go. All right. Well,
thanks for answering the questions and letting   people know your thoughts on it. All right.
Yeah. All right. So, there you have it. our 14 main reasons why we chose Da Nang to call home
as a family with dogs. We hope that this video was very helpful for you guys that we provided you a
good amount of information and we’re able to let you know things that you might not have already
known or things that could help make your move   here feel smoother and more comfortable if you’re
thinking of moving here or maybe you’re going to want to move here now because of the reasons
that we love to be here as well. So yeah, that’s   the thing is like we know so many people that have
like retired and they’re living in different parts of the world. Like if you guys are watching and
you have the means to come to Vietnam and Da Nang,   definitely do that for sure. Um again, if any
of you are watching, you are families and you have kids that are our kids age, they’re always
looking forward to meeting new people. We’re   always looking forward to meeting new people as
well. So yeah, reach out. Yeah, exactly. Let us know. Maybe we’ll start start doing like a group
meeting once a month or something once more of our   videos get out there from Don. Yeah, we’ll be fun.
We love meeting everybody from around the world and stuff like that, too. So, um, but yeah, again,
subscribe if you haven’t. We have a lot of videos   coming out, more information videos, more fun
vlogs, uh, food videos. We do a mix of everything on our channel. It’s not just a certain type
of video. We have different series that we do,   walk videos and stuff like that. So, we’ll keep
you entertained as well as informed as much as we can. We’re still learning Da Nang as well. We
did this in Costa Rica. We pretty much knew that   place inside and out cuz we lived there for so
long. So, this is all new for us. All new things we’re learning. And as we learn them, we’re going
to share them with you in our videos as well. So,   if you guys did like this video, please leave
a thumbs up, share it with a friend, share it with somebody that might be coming to Vietnam or
just Da Nang in general. They’d probably love to   watch this video, get a little bit of information
as well. Comment below if you have any suggestions of things in Da Nang. Maybe you’ve been here, you
lived here for 6 months before, and you say, “Hey, go check out this. My kids love doing this.” Or
you should uh We definitely don’t know it all. No,   exactly. That’s the thing. We’re still learning.
We want to learn. There are other content creators here that do know a lot more than we do. And, you
know, thankful that there’s people like that as   well, but we want to put our spin on it as well.
things that we personally end up experiencing here. So, that’s the nice thing about having so
many different content creators in a place like   Da Nang is we all have different experiences. We
can all share things to help you guys with your move here or your travels here, no matter what
it is. Uh, but yeah, again, if you haven’t yet,   hit the subscribe button, hit the little bell icon

    1. I've considered Da Nang but wasn't sure if it would be pet friendly enough for myself and my little chi mix. Thanks for answering some of my concerns. It's the first vlog that has . I would love to see more about it! Like a day in the life kind of thing. Where can I walk? As the sidewalks are not really usable. Or are there pet sitting services for visa runs? What about the street dogs? Is that a concern? Would be so great to see some of these scenarios explained and your experience with your cute pups!

    2. Moved to Philippines nearly 3 years ago. Will start slow traveling next month. 90 days in Vietnam first. Dalat, Nha Trang then Da Nang. Have you spent time in Dalat?

    3. This was such an incredibly helpful and well-put-together video! It's great to hear about the perfect blend of modern city life and beautiful beach access in Da Nang. Your points on safety and the truly amazing cost of living really stood out as major positives. Thanks for sharing your family's experience and providing such detailed insights for anyone considering a move or long-term stay in Vietnam.

    4. Hi new viewer here, you've probably answered this question before but if you don't mind can you please explain how do your children attend school when you have to do the visa run every few months? Do that affect their studies?

    5. Greeting from Vancouver Island! We visited Danang this January and love it there so much we are coming back in December. We want to spend our winter months in Danang. Can you do a video about how to bring our dog to Vietnam? Our dog Bentley is only thing in our way to become a snow bird.😎😎

But frustrated trying to apply for Visa.
Tried all afternoon with failed payment message popping up and different credit cards used. Did you have a problem? Any help appreciated.
Is there such a thing as visa on arrival like Cambodia and Thailand? Coming from Winnipeg.
