I’m hoping to find some opinions about https://firesideoutdoor.com/products/campfire-defender-pro-camper-kit?srsltid=AfmBOoodA6Rp-tdu9HPo51NufYFmlz-wdZXxKLhVgz-EMb7r9-VTszlg or similar products. I like the idea of using a safe blanket for banking a fire. I thought it might also be useful for backyard fires. Something you could put on a fire to either smother it completely for safety or maybe just contain it overnight so you can be assured of completely putting it out in daylight.

This just seems unsafe to me, also I like how it has gloves for it that are not fire rated lol.
Lol wtf. Listen to red flag warnings and fire bans or high winds. Use a fire ring if available. Use some logs or rings if available. Rake all the leaves or pinestraw away.
This just seems ridiculous.
I think smoky would wholeheartedly disapprove of leaving a fire unattended. You leave the risk of the blanket shifting and exposing embers or wind flapping the blanket it causing it to throw sparks that could go under the sides or through the vent to start. It could be dangerous if children or unaware people are around, they may try to grab the blanket if they don’t know what it’s there for and burn themselves. It might be viable for smothering to some extent, but I don’t think that would be worth $90 when you can easily spread a fire out with a stick to let it die out. In general banking fires unattended is not safe unless it’s a closed environment like a wood stove. In the case of a backyard fireplace, just be safe and start up a new fire the next morning, not much of a point in risking some serious damage
This product could definitely be useful to keep a pit and fuel dry, but you can just use a normal tarp for that. I don’t see much reason to purchase this, especially for $90
