[Music] We are on our visit to lure the holy pilgrimage. You can visit lure by train from Paris Gmont Parnass on metro line 6. [Music] Welcome to Lur, France. Our Lady of Lur is a title of the blessed Virgin Mary. Recalling her apparitions in 1858 in the grotto at Lur to St. Bernardet Subaru, a 14-year-old peasant girl. Our Lady instructed Bernardet to dig in the ground nearby from which came a spring with healing properties active to this day. The sanctuary has many places of worship depicting the Holy Mother. In the sanctuary of Our Lady of Lord, you can see the grotto of Masabiel where the apparitions took place. [Music] The torch light procession is a daily tradition since 1872 at around 5:00 p.m. from April to October and visit its three basilas. the Rosary Basilica, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and the large underground basilica of St. Pas I 10th [Music] The sacred spring with healing properties. [Music] The Rosary Basilica which features beautiful mosaics. The Rosary Basilica known as the Lower Basilica was completed in 1899 and designed by architect Leupole Hardy. It was consecrated in 1901 and has a capacity of 1,500 worshippers. [Music] The style and influence of Byzantine architecture is found here. The nave is circular in shape, surrounded by a dome and is open. [Music] The outer part of the dome is heralded by a majestic gilded crown and cross glittering in the bright sunlight. [Music] The central nave is surrounded by 15 smaller side chapels with each chapel containing a small altar. Each chapel represents one of the original 15 mysteries of the rosary. Each small altar in the side chapels is decorated with six candles and features a unique mosaic illustrating its corresponding mystery. [Music] Mosaics in the side chapels depict the three traditional sets of mysteries. [Music] Joyful mysteries located on the left side of the nave. Sorrowful mysteries found in the center behind the main sanctuary. Glorious mysteries positioned on the right side of the nave. [Music] Devotees from all around the world visit the holy sanctuary of Lur to offer prayers with candle lanterns to the blessed virgin Mary. The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, a Neo Gothic church built above the grotto. [Music] The central attraction of this pilgrimage site is the sanctuary of Our Lady of Lur. It was the title by which the Virgin Mary identified herself to St. Bernardet Subaru in 1858. enjoy [Music] the grand architecture and the serene environment in the chapel. [Music] See the chapels of Saint And and St. Gan Dark. There are other chapels in the sanctuary. [Music] The Basilica of St. Pas I 10th is a large modern underground church that can hold thousands of people and is the largest of the sanctuary’s churches. [Music] It is a large underground hall that looks like an inverted boat. Next walk to the chimman droy. The stations of the cross. A path up a hill with 17 stations depicting the final days of Christ. Marked by lielike statues. It is a place for reflection and prayer, inviting visitors to follow the path and meditate at each station. The stations are marked by large gilded bronze statues created by artist Maria Defeod and the site was completed in 1912. The Chapel of Candles, also called the Chapel of Light. Lighting a candle is another religious gesture which is now part of the Lord pilgrimage. The torch light procession is a daily tradition beginning from 1872. [Music] Fuses kindness. In the 11th and 12th centuries, this impregnable fortress was the lordly residence of the count of bigor. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the castle became a prison called Bastile de Pyrenees. In the 19th century, the castle was transformed into military barracks. In 1995, it was declared a historic monument and in 2002 became a museum. Enjoy the museum in the castle and scenic beauty around. The bishop of Tarb and Lurard is responsible for the spiritual governance of the sanctuary. February 11th is the feast of our lady of Lured and world day of the sick. This date commemorates the first apparition of the Virgin Mary to St. Bernardet Subaru in 1858. The annual international military pilgrimage in Lurard, France, is typically held in May, although specific dates can vary slightly each year. The international military pilgrimage, IMP, was created by the French armed forces after the Second World War in a gesture of reconciliation to their German counterparts.
