Went to Tiya the other night to kick off the holiday season. Overall, we were very impressed. The food ranged from very good to excellent. I would give the food a solid 4 out of 5 (maybe a bit higher). I felt like the cauliflower pakora fell a bit short (not crispy enough), the saag gravy on the squash and poblano dumplings could have been a bit brighter, and, overall, I wish the food was spicier. But the paneer in Malabar curry, the tandoori avocado, the chicken tikka tacos (not pictured), the butter chicken and the panna cotta with cardamom ice cream and saffron sauce were divine. The real winner here for me was the cocktails….honestly it’s worth going there just for those. Presentation, service and atmosphere were top notch. I have not been to Copra yet (it’s on the list) so can’t compare, but I felt this was a notch above Rooh (which I also love) in every category. It seems like this place is angling for a Michelin star. I think if they tighten up a few of their dishes they could get it.
