VILNIUS CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND – European Christmas Capital 2025 FULL CITY TOUR

Today we’re spending a full day exploring Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and one of the most underrated city breaks in Europe, and made even more special as it is Christmas.

We begin in Vilnius Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, walking through its historic streets on a free walking tour from Guruwalks, visiting some of the city’s most famous churches and learning about Lithuania’s past. From there, we head up to Gediminas’ Tower for panoramic views over Vilnius and the River Neris.

Later in the day we explore the unique Užupis district, often described as Europe’s smallest “republic”, complete with its own constitution, flags and traditions. We also stop for local food and drinks, sharing real prices and what you can expect to pay as a visitor.

I take the funicular up to Vilnius Castle and also visit the Museum of the Grand Dukes, said to be the best museum in Lithuania.

In the evening we explore all Vilnius has to offer at Christmas by visiting the Christmas Markets, looking at the Christmas Trees and seeing all the Christmas Decorations.
