The Real Phu Quoc, Exploring Duong Dong | Markets, Street Food & a Birthday Disaster

It’s Shayna’s birthday, she’s at the spa for three hours, and I’ve got Duong Dong β€” Phu Quoc’s oldest and most authentic town β€” all to myself. What starts as a casual solo morning wander turns into fresh seafood markets, a durian ice cream gamble, fishing with locals at a breakwater temple, and a hunt for shorts that ends in defeat. Then Shayna texts. The birthday plans just changed completely.

    1. Wow! I didn't know that Phu Quoc is similar to other cities πŸ™‚ I've never been there. But the beaches are not attractive at all, so small – can't compare to Da Nang.

Did you go to Vung Tau? It's still a hidden gem for expats but very famous for local tourists, especially people from Ho Chi Minh city.

    2. Great video Chris. I really enjoyed seeing the positive interactions with the ice cream and coconut sellers. That he was willing to help you with some Vietnamese words and genuinely wanted to have a bit of a conversation with you.
      Thanks for sharing

    3. I feel for you learning to speak Vietnamese . The different tones did my head in . The locals always respect you having a try . Many laughs over my crap pronunciation .
