Iceland’s Ring Road
Europe’s ultimate road trip is the 800-mile loop around Iceland on Highway 1 — the Ring Road. We visit the geothermal hot zone of Lake Mývatn, the rugged Eastfjords, the glacier lagoons of the Southeast, the waterfalls and beaches of the South Coast, and side trip to the Westman Islands to see puffins. Beautiful Iceland

Iceland always feels like a place where the road is just as unforgettable as the stops.
I still don't get why Greenland is covered in ice and Iceland is covered in green. Great show anyway.
These are stunning pictures but travelers should keep in mind that, like in Ireland and Scotland, Iceland's mossy green fields are a product of rain and rain and rain and rain. Rick's team definitely got lucky to shoot on some beautiful sunny clear days, but travelers should be prepared for rain and wind.
Little tip for future Iceland travelers: Seydisfjördur has one of the best authentic lopapeysa (Icelandic wool sweater) shops, where you can meet the knitting grannies and try on as many as you like. 🙂
