First time solo camping and had a blast. I’ve camped a couple other places in California but this one was top tier. The redwoods and the river running through the camp is awesome. My site (#23) even had a creek running past it into the river so I got to hear that steady water stream the whole time.
And the campground itself offers so much. Bathrooms, showers, laundry (?!?), ice and all manner of last minute/forgotten items- lighters, coal, tarps. And even a teeny shop with beer and wine for sale!
I highly recommend!

Which campground is it? And there are cabins too?
Just don’t go on or near the 4th. We did, and it was a big mistake.
Are bears much of a concern? Wife spooks easily.
That part of Cali is always calling my soul
I did one of my first solo camping trips here, too! I recommend it to anyone who will listen, it’s so beautiful and they really went the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need.
It ended up raining a majority of one of the days I was there but I wasn’t even mad about hanging out in my tent reading next to the creek.
I used to camp there before it was bought out. I remember campsites were $35 a night and creek side was $55 or something like that. After they were bought the prices skyrocketed and I couldn’t justify spending a couple hundred per night to just camp. Sure the campsite is nice and has the all
The amenities but I found pfeiffer big sure state park right across the highway much better from a cost point of view. It’s just as beautiful and a fraction of what the private campground charges for campsites. I haven’t really checked what their prices are now but I can only assume they have gone up since it was bought out.
Edit. Checked September which is when I typically go to Big Sur. $105 to $170 a night for a campsite. That’s insane.
Yea the place is really nice but it’s insanely expensive for camping.
Good news is there is always availability it seems where as the state parks down the road are usually always full.
